CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING TOOL, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING MACHINED PRODUCT USING THE SAME
In a cutting insert according to an embodiment of the present invention, an upper cutting edge includes, sequentially from a first corner to a second corner, a corner cutting edge, a minor cutting edge inclined as separating from the corner cutting edge at a first inclination angle on a basis of a vertical plane perpendicular to a central axis extending between upper and lower surfaces, and a major cutting edge inclined as separating from the minor cutting edge at a second inclination angle on the basis of the vertical plane so as to become more closer to the lower surface than the minor cutting edge. A cross section of a rake surface obtained by cutting an inwardly located end portion thereof along a direction of the central axis has a straight line shape or concave shape in a region crossing over at least a minor rake surface and a major rake surface. A cutting tool with the cutting insert, and a method of manufacturing a machined product by using the cutting tool are also provided.
Cutting insert, cutting tool, and method of producing machined product using the same
A cutting insert comprises a first surface sequentially including a first and second inclined surface. The first inclined surface is inclined toward the second surface, going inward from the edge at a first inclined angle on a basis of a perpendicular plane perpendicular to a central axis extending between the first surface and a second surface. The second inclined surface, located more inward than the first inclined surface, is inclined toward the second surface at a second inclined angle different from the first inclined angle on the basis of the perpendicular plane. An intersecting part of the first inclined surface and the second inclined surface includes a first part located at a highest position in a region of the intersecting part along the second side surface. A cutting tool with the cutting insert, and a method of producing a machined product using the cutting tool are provided.
CUTTING INSERT, CUTTING TOOL, AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CUT WORKPIECE USING SAME
A cutting insert, a cutting tool and method of manufacturing a machined product. The cutting insert includes: upper and lower surfaces; a side surface; a cutting edge; and a rake portion on the upper surface. The cutting edge includes major and minor cutting edges that are convex toward outside of the main body portion. The minor cutting edge has a curvature radius smaller than a curvature radius of the major cutting edge. The rake portion is inclined and approaches the lower surface as moving from the major cutting edge toward inside of the main body portion and is located along the major cutting edge. An inclination angle of the rake portion becomes smaller as moving from a part continuous with one end of the major cutting edge toward a part continuous with center of the major cutting edge.
MILLING INSERT
A milling insert, including an upperside, an underside, and a reference plane parallel to the upperside and the underside. A plurality of indexable cutting edges are formed along a peripheral borderline in transitions between at least the upperside and a number of clearance surfaces. Each cutting edge includes a chip-removing main edge and a surface-wiping secondary edge, the secondary edge forming an obtuse angle with the main edge as viewed in planar view from the upperside. The main edge, from a first end of the main edge adjacent to the secondary edge, first declines toward the underside of the milling insert and then, from a lowest part, rises toward an opposite second end of the main edge. The secondary edge is inclined at an angle () in relation to the reference plane as viewed perpendicularly to the clearance surface of the secondary edge, such that a first end of the secondary edge connected to the main edge is situated on a lower level than the opposite, second end of the secondary edge.
Milling tool as well as a milling insert therefor
A milling tool has single sided and indexable milling inserts having a round basic shape. Each milling insert has a plurality of tangentially spaced-apart and alternately usable cutting edges, which individually fall archedly from a first end, situated closest to an upper reference plane, to a lowest point, from which it again rises toward a second end. A reinforcing chamfer surface included in the cutting edge is formed with an increasing width in a direction from the first end of the cutting edge toward the second end.
Milling insert
A milling insert, including an upperside, an underside, and a reference plane parallel thereto. A plurality of indexable cutting edges are formed along a peripheral borderline in transitions between at least the upperside and a number of clearance surfaces. Each cutting edge includes a chip-removing main edge and a surface-wiping secondary edge. The main edge, from a first end of the main edge adjacent to the secondary edge, declines toward the underside of the milling insert and then, from a lowest part, rises toward an opposite second end of the main edge. The secondary edge is inclined at an angle () in relation to the reference plane as viewed perpendicularly to the clearance surface of the secondary edge, such that a first end of the secondary edge connected to the main edge is situated on a lower level than the opposite, second end of the secondary edge.
CUTTING INSERT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting insert has an upper surface (21), a lower surface (91) and a side surface (61) that connects the two surfaces. A cutting edge is formed at an intersecting edge between the upper surface (21) and the side surface (61). The cutting edge includes at least a major cutting edge (33), a corner edge (34) connected to the major cutting edge (33), and a curved wiper edge (35) located on the opposite side of the major cutting edge (33) across the corner edge (34). A first angle made by the major cutting edge (33) and the chord of the wiper edge (35) is 155<180, and a positive land is formed in the wiper edge (35). The cutting edge may further include an inner cutting edge (36) located on an opposite side of the corner edge (34) across the wiper edge (35).

A cutting insert includes: a polygonal shaped upper surface; a lower surface; a side surface connected to each of the upper and lower surfaces; and an upper cutting edge located at the intersection of the upper surface and the side surface. The upper surface alternately includes three major corners and three minor corners. The upper cutting edge includes: a corner cutting edge; a minor cutting edge inclined toward the lower surface as separating from the corner cutting edge at a first inclination angle; and a major cutting edge inclined toward the lower surface as separating from the minor cutting edge at a second inclination angle. The corner cutting edge, the minor cutting edge and the major cutting edge are located sequentially from a first major corner to each of first and second minor corners, both of which are adjacent to the first major corner.
