Miter saw

A miter saw includes a base, a table pivotally coupled to the base about a miter axis, and a saw unit coupled to the table for movement about the miter axis. A workpiece support is pivotable relative to the base between a first position, in which the table is permitted to pivot about the miter axis within a first range of miter angles, and a second position, in which the table is permitted to pivot about the miter axis within a second range of miter angles different than the first range. The miter saw further includes a locking mechanism for maintaining the workpiece support in at least one of the first position or the second position, wherein the locking mechanism includes an actuator supported by and moveable with the workpiece support between the first position and the second position.

A miter saw has a base assembly, a table rotatably disposed on the base assembly, a support section rotatably connected to the table, a guide bar fixedly attached to and extending forwardly from the support section, and a saw assembly sliding along the guide bar. The saw assembly is pivotable downwardly for cutting a workpiece disposed on the table. A handle is disposed adjacent to a forward end of the guide bar. The handle is movable between a first position for fixing a rotational position of the support section relative to the table, and a second position for allowing rotational movement of the support section relative to the table.

An improved cutting device with an integrated and interruptible auxiliary power supply is disclosed herein. In a preferred embodiment, the improved cutting device is a miter saw having a trigger mechanism for controlling a cutting implement, and at least one 120V or 240V auxiliary power outlet. Electrical power is only provided to the cutting implement and the auxiliary power outlet when the triggering or a similar mechanism is activated, and the release of the triggering mechanism by the user automatically shuts off electrical power to both the cutting implement and the at least one auxiliary power outlet. The auxiliary power outlet is useful for powering any number of different accessories including, without limitation, a light, vacuum source, etc., and is repositionable.

Miter saw and workpiece support therefor

A miter saw and a workpiece support are provided. The workpiece support has a circular disc-shaped turntable penetrated by a saw blade slot serving as a passage for the saw blade lowered into the working position, a holder on one side for fastening the saw unit, and a radial arm which extends the turntable and the saw blade slot in the longitudinal direction of the slot radially outwards on a side opposite the holder. A radial arm connection is provided, on which the radial arm is detachably and co-rotatably attached to the turntable, or on which a radially outer radial arm outer portion of the radial arm is detachably and co-rotatably attached to a radially inner radial arm inner portion of the radial arm formed integrally with the turntable. The miter saw has blade that can be moved transversely and lowered from a position above the workpiece support.

Miter saw

A miter saw includes a base, a table pivotally coupled to the base about a miter axis, a saw unit coupled to the table for movement with the table about the miter axis, and a fence having a stop protruding from a rear surface thereof that is engageable by the table and/or the saw unit to limit miter angle adjustment of the saw unit.

A cutting device main body with a saw blade in a tabletop cutting device, supported so as to be swingable in an up-to-down direction with respect to a table on which material to be cut is placed, aims to improve operability for attaching and detaching the battery. A sliding direction for attaching and detaching the battery is set to be a tilting direction angled with respect to an up-to-down moving direction of the cutting device main body in a surface direction of a cutting blade. Because of this configuration, all of an operation force for attaching and detaching the battery is not applied to the up-to-down moving direction of the cutting device main body. As a result, the cutting main body is not moved in an easy manner and operability for attaching and detaching the battery is improved.

Electric static discharge protection for power tools

A power tool has a housing, a motor disposed within the housing, a power supply circuit for providing power to the motor, a controller circuit for controlling the power provided to the motor, and an electric static discharge (ESD) protection circuit connected to the power supply circuit and the housing. The ESD protection circuit includes a first resistor connected to the power supply circuit and the housing. The first resistor may be a high impedance resistor. The ESD protection circuit may also have a first capacitor connected in parallel to the first resistor, a second resistor connected in series to the first resistor, and a second capacitor connected in series to the first capacitor and in parallel to the second resistor.

MITER SAW

A miter saw includes a base assembly and a saw unit pivotably coupled to the base assembly about a first axis. The saw unit includes a saw arm, a motor supported by the saw arm, and a saw blade supported by the saw arm. The saw blade is driven by the motor to rotate about a second axis. The saw blade includes a diameter. A ratio of the diameter of the saw blade to a distance between the first and second axes is between 0.4 and 0.7.

Miter saw

A miter saw includes a fence assembly having a first fence fixedly coupled to a base of the miter saw. The fence assembly includes a moveable fence having a lower portion slidably received within a channel at least partially defined by the first fence. The fence assembly includes a locking member coupled to the first fence. The locking member extends into a groove defined by the lower portion of the moveable fence. The locking member is configured to engage the lower portion of the moveable fence to selectively lock the moveable fence between a retracted position and an extended position relative to the first fence. The fence assembly includes a retaining member coupled to the first fence and extending into the groove of the moveable fence. The locking member and the retaining member collectively restrict the moveable fence from moving in a direction away from the horizontal workpiece support surfaces.

A benchtop cutting machine (1), such as a miter saw, includes: a base (2); a turntable (3), which is rotatable relative to the base; and a lock mechanism (40), which locks the rotation of the turntable relative to the base. The lock mechanism comprises a locking pin (45), which is movable along its axial direction and locks the rotation of the turntable by engaging with the base, and a manipulatable lever (41), which is pivotable in an up-down direction to release the engagement of the locking pin from the base. The manipulatable lever has a pivot point or center of rotation (42) that is located upward of the locking pin.
