Non-contact wire array tension control device
The present invention provides a non-contact wire array tension control device for controlling a plurality of tension respectively corresponding to a plurality of electrical discharge wires, including delivering spools and electromagnets. The delivering spool has a magnetic end and a wire outputting end, the wire outputting end is coupled with an electrical discharge wire for outputting the electrical discharge wire. A plurality of electromagnets are coupled to the corresponding magnetic end for controlling a spin rate of the corresponding delivering spool, wherein the spin rate of the corresponding delivering spool is controlled by adjusting a magnetic force generated by the electromagnet. Moreover, a magnetic direction of the electromagnet is parallel to an axial direction of the delivering spool. The invention uses the electromagnets to control the magnetic damping force of the delivering spools for simultaneously controlling the tension of the electrical discharge wires by non-contact method.

The wire electrode supply apparatus includes a back tension adjustment unit that adjusts a back tension of the wire electrode drawn from a source bobbin, a tension applying unit, and a constant pressure ejecting unit that ejects the wire electrode with constant pressure and rate after the transference via the tension applying unit and an electrical discharge machining unit. The tension applying unit includes a low tension applying unit that applies a tension to the wire electrode, and a high tension applying unit that can supply a higher tension. After the high tension applying unit supplies a tension, the low tension applying unit supplies a tension. Otherwise, only the low tension applying unit supplies a tension.

A tension control method or the like is provided, configured to appropriately control a wire electrode, thereby providing high-precision machining compared with control using a tension detector with feedback control. An EDM apparatus includes a correspondence relation storage unit that stores a correspondence relation between a wire electrode tension between a feed roller and a winding roller and a speed difference between the feed motor and the winding motor or the like. A setting value storage unit stores user-set wire electrode setting values for the feed speed and tension. A determination unit determines the driving speed difference between the feed motor and the winding motor or the like based on the tension setting value, etc., with reference to the correspondence relation storage unit. A motor control unit controls the feed and winding motors using the feed speed setting value, the driving speed difference determined by the determination unit, etc.

Provided is a wire electric discharge machining device and method capable of reliably terminating a short circuit between a wire electrode and a workpiece. The invention relates to a wire electric discharge machining device that starts machining of a workpiece (3) by generating an electric discharge in a machining gap formed between the workpiece and a wire electrode (2) threaded through a start hole (4) in the workpiece. The wire electric discharge machining device includes: a tension control device (56) that controls tension of the wire electrode so as to maintain the tension at a set value; a short circuit detector (57) that detects a short circuit between the wire electrode and the workpiece; and a short circuit termination system that reduces the tension of the wire electrode and vibrates the wire electrode in order to terminate a short circuit when the short circuit detector has detected the short circuit.

There is provided a wire electric discharge machine including a calibrating unit which carries out calibration for obtaining a detected deviation amount of the tensile force detector based on the set tensile force and a tensile force detected by the tensile force detector when the set tensile force is applied, the calibrating unit correcting output of the tensile force detector by the detected deviation amount which is obtained by the calibration, and the wire electric discharge machine carries out feedback control of the tensile force of the wire electrode based on a corrected detected tensile force which is obtained by correcting the detected tensile force of the tensile force detector by the calibrating unit.
