A system and method are presented for producing solder paste having undercooled metallic core-shell particles. In one or more arrangements, the system includes a reconstitution assembly, a dispenser assembly, and a mixer, among other components. The reconstitution assembly is configured to place the cores of the solid core metallic core-shell particles into an undercooled liquid state to form a plurality of undercooled metallic core-shell particles. The dispenser assembly is configured to dispense one or more of a set of available flux components. The mixer assembly is configured to mix the one or more of the set of flux components dispensed by the dispenser assembly with the plurality of undercooled metallic core-shell particles formed by the reconstitution assembly to form a solder paste.

Guide wire devices include an elongate shaft member having a shapeable distal end section that is formed from a linear pseudoelastic nickel-titanium (Ni—Ti) alloy that has linear pseudoelastic behavior without a phase transformation or onset of stress-induced martensite. Linear pseudoelastic Ni—Ti alloy, which is distinct from non-linear pseudoelastic (i.e., superelastic) Ni—Ti alloy, is highly durable, corrosion resistant, and has high stiffness. The shapeable distal end section is shapeable by a user to facilitate guiding the guide wire through tortuous anatomy. In addition, linear pseudoelastic Ni—Ti alloy is more durable tip material than other shapeable tip materials such as stainless steel.

A lead-free silver-free solder alloy may comprise tin, copper, bismuth, cobalt, and antimony. Alternatively, the alloy may comprise gallium in lieu of cobalt. The alloy may further comprise nickel, germanium, or both. The copper may be present in an amount from about 0.5% to 0.9% by weight of the solder. The bismuth may be present in an amount from about 1.0% to about 3.5% by weight of the solder. The cobalt may be present in an amount from about 0.02% to about 0.08% by weight of the solder. Where gallium is used in lieu of cobalt, the gallium may be present in an amount from about 0.2% to about 0.8% by weight of the solder. The antimony may be present in an amount between about 0.0% to about 0.09% by weight of the solder. The balance of the solder is tin.

An object of the present invention is to provide an Sn—Bi—Cu—Ni solder alloy or the like which has a low melting point, excellent ductility, and high tensile strength, and in which if soldering is performed on a Cu electrode subjected to electroless Ni plating treatment, a solder joint formed through this soldering exhibits high shear strength. In addition, another object of the present invention is to provide an Sn—Bi—Cu—Ni solder alloy in which a solder joint formed through soldering exhibits high shear strength even for a Cu electrode which has not been subjected to plating treatment. Furthermore, still another object of the present invention is to provide, in addition to the above-described objects, a solder alloy or the like of which yellowish discoloration can be suppressed and in which change in viscosity of a solder paste over time can be suppressed. The solder alloy has an alloy composition consisting of, by mass %, 31% to 59% of Bi, 0.3% to 1.0% of Cu, 0.01% to 0.06% of Ni, 0.0040% to 0.025% of As, and a balance of Sn.

A flux according to the present invention is a halogen-free flux used for soldering that includes: a thixotropic agent a polyamide compound in which one endothermic peak or all of endothermic peaks obtained by differential thermal analysis are observed within a range of 130 to 200° C.; and an activator comprising an isocyanuric acid derivative, in which a content of the isocyanuric acid derivative is 5.0 mass % or less based on the entire flux.

A flux according to the present invention is a flux for soldering, the flux including: an unsaturated aliphatic alcohol having one unsaturated bond, a thixotropic agent, and a solvent, in which the unsaturated aliphatic alcohol includes oleyl alcohol, and a content of the oleyl alcohol is 2.0 mass % or more and 12.0 mass % or less based on the entire flux.

A method of making an amalgamation preform includes providing a particle-liquid mixture containing a plurality of types of solid particles and a liquid base metal. The plurality of types of solid particles at least includes reactive particles, reactable with the base metal, and non-reactive magnetic particles.
