Apparatus and method for connecting metal workpieces
A welding tape for thermally connecting metal workpieces by fusion, wherein the welding tape in a cross section has an outwardly closing cover layer which comprises an inner cover layer and an outer cover layer, wherein in the transverse direction provision is made at least in side edge regions of the inner cover layer for adhesive layers by means of which the welding tape can be fastened to the workpieces to be connected, wherein in the interior of the cover layer provision is made for a self-combusting exothermic substance, which during ignition provides the thermal energy which is required for the welding, wherein a non-combustible heat shield is arranged exclusively between the exothermic substance and the outer cover layer, and wherein a welding additive is provided between the exothermic substance and the inner cover layer.

A welded joint is obtained by using a welding material having a composition: Cr: 15.0 to 30.0%; and Ni: 40.0 to 70.0%, including: a base material having a composition: C: 0.03 to 0.075%; Si: 0.6 to 2.0%; Mn: 0.05 to 2.5%; P: up to 0.04%; S: up to 0.015%; Cr: more than 16.0% and less than 23.0%; Ni: not less than 20.0% and less than 30.0%; Cu: 0.5 to 10.0%; Mo: less than 1%; Al: up to 0.15%; N: 0.005 to 0.20%; O: up to 0.02%; Ca: 0 to 0.1%; REM: 0 to 0.15%; V: not less than 0% and less than 0.5%; and Nb: 0 to 2%, a balance being Fe and impurities and a first-layer weld metal including Fe content from 10 to 40%, all % by mass.

Particles of beta phase brass are interspersed within the gamma phase brass layer. An oxide layer including zinc is disposed over the gamma phase brass layer.
Sinter-bonded hybrid article, method for forming hybrid article, and method for closing aperture
A hybrid article is disclosed including a coating disposed on and circumscribing the lateral surface of a core having a core material. The coating includes about 35% to about 95% of a first metallic material having a first melting point, and about 5% to about 65% of a second metallic material having a second melting point lower than the first melting point. The coating is sinter-bonded to the core. A method for forming the hybrid article is disclosed including disposing the core in a die, introducing a slurry having the metallic materials into a gap between the lateral surface and the die, and sintering the slurry, forming the coating. A method for closing an aperture of an article is disclosed including inserting the hybrid article into the aperture, and brazing the hybrid article to the article, welding the aperture with the hybrid article serving as weld filler, or both.
SYSTEM, APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR HYBRID FUNCTION MICRO WELDING
An apparatus, system and method for micro welding, wherein insulated object, such as a wire, that includes a metallic conductor that is at least partially covered by one or more layers of insulation, is positioned across a termination point. A laser beam may be applied to an area of the insulated object overlapping the termination point, wherein the applied laser beam is configured to substantially simultaneously (i) ablate the one or more layers of insulation in a first region of the area, (ii) weld the metallic conductor to the termination point in a second region of the area, and (iii) detach a portion of the object from the termination point in a third region of the area.
METHOD FOR DEPOSITING A DESIRED SUPERALLOY COMPOSITION
Processes for depositing a desired superalloy composition are provided. An elongated core member (20), such as made up of a wrought nickel-base alloy or a wrought cobalt-base alloy, may be drawn in connection with a wire drawing process. Elongated core member (20) includes at least one strengthening constituent having a reduced concentration to provide a desired level of ductility appropriate for the drawing of elongated core member (20). A coating (22) is applied to elongated core member (20). Coating (22) is configured to introduce a sufficient concentration of the strengthening constituent to form the desired superalloy composition when the coating and the elongated core member are melted together. This melting may occur during a welding process conducive to depositing the desired superalloy composition. The welding process may be performed in the context of repairing, rebuilding, and manufacturing superalloy components, such as for a gas turbine engine.

A suppressor having a body and a first connector half coupled to the body, wherein the first connector half includes a first component that includes at least one channel and a first surface; and wherein the body provides a second surface, wherein a gap between the first surface and the second surface defines at least one track; wherein the gun includes a second connector half comprising at least one protrusion, wherein the protrusion and channel have corresponding shapes that allow the protrusion to be inserted through the channel and into alignment with the track, wherein the first component may be rotated with respect to the protrusion and the body to bring the protrusion out of alignment with the channel so that the first and second surfaces clamp the protrusion to thereby secure the first connector half and second connector half with respect to each other.

HYBRID COMPONENT WITH MULTIPLE CORES AND METHOD FOR TREATING A COMPONENT
A hybrid preform component including a plurality of elongated metallic cores and a coating paste is provided. The coating paste envelops the plurality of elongated metallic cores. The coating paste includes a first material having a first melting point, a second material having a second melting point, and a binder. A method for treating a component is also provided. The method includes the step of mixing a second material, a first material, and a binder to make coating paste. The method further includes the step of coating the plurality of cores using the coating paste to form a coated rod assembly. The method further includes the step of compressing the coated rod assembly to envelop the coating paste to the plurality of cores and form a preform component having a near net shape. The method further includes the step of sintering the preform component to form a pre-sintered preform.
