PRECIPITATION-STRENGTHENED CAST PRODUCT WELDING REPAIR METHOD
A precipitation-strengthened cast product welding repair method is a method of repairing a damaged portion of a precipitation-strengthened cast product. The method includes: forming a first weld layer on a surface of the damaged portion by micro tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding using a solid-solution-strengthened welding material having higher toughness than the cast product; and forming a second weld layer on the first weld layer by building up the second weld layer by laser welding using a dual multi-phase nanostructure intermetallic compound as a welding material and being higher in heat supply rate than the micro TIG welding.
Method for producing a heating cable and heating cable produced according to this method
The invention concerns an electric heating cable intended for pipelines. Sections (11a, 12a and 13a) of three phase conductors (11, 12 are 13) are stripped respectively. These sections are intended to be installed and both secured in place and electrically connected to each other inside a box (14) having, for example, a central cavity (15) having a rectangular cross-section, the depth of which is at least equal to the length of the stripped sections (11a, 12a and 13a) and the length of which is preferably greater than the transverse cross-section of these stripped sections of the phase conductors. They are secured in the central cavity (15) with a conductive binder (16), for example a tin solder, in order to ensure they are secured in place and electrically connected to each other.

A transistor device structure may include a submount, a transistor device on the carrier submount, and a metal bonding layer between the submount and the transistor die, the metal bonding stack providing mechanical attachment of the transistor die to the submount. The metal bonding stack may include gold, tin and nickel. A weight percentage of a combination of nickel and tin in the metal bonding layer is greater than 50 percent and a weight percentage of gold in the metal bonding layer is less than 25 percent.
METHOD FOR SOLDERING HEATING ELEMENTS TO CREATE AN ELECTRIC HEATING DEVICE OR A HEATING SOURCE; CORRESPONDING ELECTRIC HEATING DEVICE
A method for creating an electric heating source, including a body equipped with one or more housings containing mineral-insulated heating cables. The housings communicate with one or more reservoirs which accept a purely metallic solder material in solid, powder or sheet form. The device is heated in a vacuum degassing plateau, followed by a casting plateau during which the solder melts and fills the housing around the heating cables, resulting in full metal contact between the cables and the body, providing a more uniform temperature and a shorter response time to heating or cooling. Also, a heating source obtained in this manner, including an infrared faired source or an immersion heater for the heating of a liquid bath of molten metal.
Multi-metallic articles of manufacture
Methods disclosed herein include using additive manufacturing to create a joint between a first metallic material and a second metallic material that is different from the first metallic material, wherein the porosity of the joint is less than about 0.1 percent by volume measured according to ASTM B-962. The additive manufacturing can be performed such that no intermetallic brittle phase forms between the first metallic material and the second metallic material.
Amorphous ductile braze alloy compositions, and related methods and articles
A nickel-based braze alloy composition includes nickel, about 1 weight % to about 5 weight % boron (B); and about 1 weight % to about 20 weight % germanium (Ge). The composition is free of any silicon. Superalloy articles having a crack or other type of void or gap may be filled with the nickel-based braze alloy composition. Methods for filling such a gap are described.
DISC CUTTER FOR TUNNEL BORING MACHINES AND A METHOD OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF
A disc cutter for a cutting unit used in a tunnel boring machine and a method of producing the same. The disc cutter includes an annular disc body made of a metal alloy or metal matrix composite having a first side, a second side arranged substantially opposite to the first side and a radially peripheral part. At least one metal alloy, metal matrix composite or cemented carbide cutting part is mounted in and substantially encircling the radially peripheral part of the disc body, which protrudes outwardly therefrom to engage with the rock during the mining operation. The at least one cutting part is made from a material having a higher wear resistance than the material used for the disc body. A metallic interlayer is disposed between at the least one disc body and the at least one cutting part, the elements of which form the diffusion bonds.
Ni-BASED ALLOY FLUX-CORED WIRE
A Ni-based alloy flux cored wire includes a Ni-based alloy outer sheath and a flux with which the Ni-based alloy outer sheath is filled, and includes, per a total mass of the wire, Ni: 45 mass % to 75 mass %, Cr: 20 mass % or less, Mo: 10 mass % to 20 mass %, Fe: 10.0 mass % or less, TiO.sub.2: 3 mass % to 11 mass %, Ca: 0.01 mass % to 2.0 mass %, F: 1.0 mass % or less (including 0 mass %), and Nb: less than 0.5 mass % (including 0 mass %).
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A WELDING WIRE, WELDING WIRE FOR PROCESSING A COMPONENT, AND COMPONENT
The invention relates to a method for producing a welding wire that includes the steps of providing a hollow wire, through at least part of which at least one cavity extends; producing the welding wire by introducing a welding material containing titanium aluminide or at least one nickel-based superalloy into the at least one cavity, the at least one cavity being evacuated or being filled with a protective gas before, during and/or after the introduction of the welding material, and the hollow wire being formed from nickel if the welding material contains the at least one nickel-based superalloy. Further aspects of the invention relate to a welding wire and to a component having at least one component region obtained by hardfacing using at least one such welding wire.
WELDED SURFACE COATING USING ELECTRO-SPARK DISCHARGE PROCESS
A welded assembly includes a first object or substrate, an interlayer, and a subsequent layer deposited on the interlayer. The interlayer is an ESD coating deposited on the first object, and the subsequent layer is deposited by ESD on the interlayer. The subsequent layer is made of a different materials from the substrate. Both the interlayer and the subsequent layer are subject to peening. In one case the interlayer has a lower either a lower thermal conductivity or a lower electrical conductivity than the substrate and the subsequent layer. In another example, the subsequent layer has a cermet content of greater than 40% by wt.
