Nanoparticle powders, methods for forming braze pastes, and methods for modifying articles
A nanoparticle powder is disclosed including a plurality of stabilized nanoparticles having a superalloy composition. At least about 90% of the particles have a convexity between about 0.980-1 and a circularity between about 0.850-1. A method for forming a braze paste is disclosed including mixing the plurality of stabilized nanoparticles with at least one organometallic precursor and up to about 5 wt % binder. A method for modifying an article is disclosed including applying the braze paste to a substrate including at least one crack, removing at least about 70% of the binder in the braze paste, and then applying additional braze paste over the first portion. Under vacuum or inert gas atmosphere, essentially all remaining binder is evaporated. The braze paste is brazed to the article at about 40-60% of the superalloy's bulk liquidus temperature, forming a brazed material and thereby sealing the at least one crack.
COMPOSITE WELDING WIRE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING
The present invention is a composite welding wire for fusion welding of components manufactured of superalloys. The composite weld wire includes a surface layer applied to the core wire in a green condition and bonded to the core wire. The surface layer includes alloying elements selected from among B and Si, the total bulk content of B and Si representing 0.5 to 4.0 wt. % of the composite welding wire. The boron and silicon alloying elements reduce the melting temperature and increase the solidification range of the weld pool, minimizing the incidence of weld cracking compared to welding without the coating. The green condition surface layer is comprised of more than 80 wt. % of the bulk content of the composite welding wire selected from the combination of B and Si.
Cu core ball, solder joint, solder paste and formed solder
The Cu core ball contains a Cu ball and one or more metal layer for covering a surface of the Cu ball, each layer including one or more element selected from Ni, Co, Fe and Pd. The Cu ball contains at least one element selected from Fe, Ag, and Ni in a total amount of 5.0 or more to 50.0 ppm by mass or lower, S in an amount of 0 ppm by mass or more to 1.0 ppm by mass or lower, P in an amount of 0 ppm by mass or more to less than 3.0 ppm by mass, and remainder of Cu and inevitable impurities. The Cu ball contains purity which is 99.995% by mass or higher and 99.9995% or lower, sphericity which is 0.95 or higher and a diameter of 1 m or more to 1000 m or lower.
Weld filler additive and method of welding
A method of welding using a weld filler additive and a weld filler additive are provided. The method includes the step of welding the component with a filler additive comprising a sufficient amount of each of W, Co, Cr, Al, Ti, Mo, Fe, B, C, Nb, and Ni, the component including a hard-to-weld base alloy. The method further includes the step of forming an easy-to-weld target alloy on a surface of the component from the welding.
Weld filler metal for superalloys and methods of making
A method of making a weld filler metal for a superalloy for welding is disclosed. The method includes enclosing a welding rod in a first foil layer and sintering the welding rod and the first foil layer. Related processes and articles are also disclosed.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING METALLIC WELDING WIRES AND METALLIC WELDING WIRES FORMED THEREBY
The subject matter disclosed herein relates to methods of manufacturing metallic welding wires and the metallic welding wires formed thereby. A method of manufacturing a metallic welding wire includes filling a mold with a metallic powder, the metallic powder filling one or more narrow elongated tubes within the mold, and heat treating the tubes filled with the metallic powder, thereby forming a solid metallic welding wire within each tube.
Assembly, treated article, and process of treating a turbine component
In some embodiments, a process treats a turbine component. The turbine component includes an article and a wear component brazed to the article. The process includes applying a braze tape on at least a portion of the wear component and thermal processing the turbine component while the braze tape is on the at least a portion of the wear component to treat the turbine component. In some embodiments, an assembly includes a turbine component. The turbine component includes an article and a pre-sintered preform brazed to a surface of the article. The assembly also includes a braze tape on at least a portion of the pre-sintered preform. In some embodiments, a treated turbine component includes a treated article and a pre-sintered preform brazed to a surface of the treated article. The treated turbine component has been thermally processed with the pre-sintered preform being substantially free of re-flow.
