MANUFACTURE OF A DRUM FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE
A method for the manufacture of a blisk drum is described. Disc forging for inertia welding together are provided with sacrificial material whose shape and position is selectively provided such that, on completion of the inertia welding process, integral blades can be fashioned from the sacrificial material. Other components such as buckets and balancing lands may also be provided from the sacrificial material.
Process for laser-assisted tool build and repair
A tool for forming a shaped product has a support body that is fabricated from a first material, such as for instance cast iron. The first material defines a first portion of a forming surface of the tool and has a feature supported thereon. The feature has a layer of a second material that is supported on the first material of the support body, a layer of a third material that is supported on the layer of the second material and a layer of a fourth material that is supported on the layer of the third material. The layer of the fourth material, such as for instance a tool steel alloy, defines a second portion of the forming surface of the tool. During use the first portion of the forming surface and the second portion of the forming surface cooperate to form a desired shape of the shaped product.
METHOD FOR BRAZING AND USE OF A BRAZING FOIL FOR INDUCTION BRAZING
A method for brazing is provided, in which an amorphous or partially amorphous brazing foil, having a composition with a metalloid content of 10 to 30 at. %, is arranged at a joining point of two or more parts. The brazing foil is in the form of a wound ring-shaped strip which has a short-circuited current path between at least two layers lying one on top of the other. The brazing foil inductively heated, melted and a brazed connection of the parts is produced.
Welding method using special torch
Provided is a welding method using a special torch and a flux cored wire, in which the special torch has a suction nozzle between the contact tip and the shield nozzle, and the flux cored wire has a flux filled inside the steel outer casing, and a seam portion where both ends of a metal in a width direction of the steel outer casing are butted or overlapped in a longitudinal direction of the flux cored wire.
BRAZED JOINT BODY, BRAZING METHOD, AND BRAZING MATERIAL
A brazing material is interposed between an aluminum-based material and an iron-based material plated with Ni. The brazing material has a structure in which an Al—Si—Ni based alloy layer and an Al layer are bonded via a flux layer. A structure for brazing is formed such that the Al—Si—Ni based alloy layer is located on the aluminum-based material side and the Al layer is located on the iron-based material side. The structure is heated in a furnace and is thereafter cooled, thereby obtaining a brazed joint body in which the Ni plating that is a barrier layer remains and an Al—Ni layer is formed.
OVERMOLDED TUBING ASSEMBLY AND ADAPTER FOR A POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMP
A tubing assembly is provided that can comprise a plurality of tubes or lumens that can be disposed within a head of a peristaltic pump. The tubing assembly can provide a flow rate or volume capacity that is generally equal to or greater than that achieved with a comparable prior art tube while operating at higher pressures than that possible using the prior art tube. Further, in accordance with some embodiments, the tubing assembly can achieve a longer working life than a comparable prior art tube, and the load on the pump motor can be reduced such that the pump life is increased and/or a larger pump motor is not required to achieve such advantageous results.
Earth-boring tools having particle-matrix composite bodies and methods for welding particle-matrix composite bodies
Methods for welding a particle-matrix composite body to another body and repairing particle-matrix composite bodies are disclosed. Additionally, earth-boring tools having a joint that includes an overlapping root portion and a weld groove having a face portion with a first bevel portion and a second bevel portion are disclosed. In some embodiments, a particle-matrix bit body of an earth-boring tool may be repaired by removing a damaged portion, heating the particle-matrix composite bit body, and forming a built-up metallic structure thereon. In other embodiments, a particle-matrix composite body may be welded to a metallic body by forming a joint, heating the particle-matrix composite body, melting a metallic filler material forming a weld bead and cooling the welded particle-matrix composite body, metallic filler material and metallic body at a controlled rate.
Wear-resistant iron-based alloy compositions comprising chromium
An iron-based alloy composition including: boron (B): 1. 6-2.4 wt. %; carbon (C): 2.2-3.0 wt. %; chromium (Cr): 3.5-5.0 wt. %; manganese (Mn): below 0.8 wt. %; molybdenum (Mo): 16.0-19.5 wt. %; nickel (Ni): 1.0-2.0 wt. %; silicon (Si): 0.2-2.0 wt. %; vanadium (V): 10.8-13.2 wt. %; and balanced with iron (Fe). Further, an item including a substrate portion and a hardfacing coating bonded to the substrate portion, wherein the hardfacing coating is made by an overlay welding process using the iron-based alloy composition.
FLUX-CORED WIRE, WELDING METHOD, AND WELD METAL
The present invention relates to a flux-cored wire which can be used for straight-polarity gas-shielded arc welding, wherein a flux contains one or several types of metal compound powders and, when one or several metal elements constituting the metal compound powders are formed into stable compounds under a high-temperature environment, the relationship between the weighted geometric mean value (Φ) of the work functions of the stable compounds and the wire diameter (D) of the flux-cored wire satisfies the following formula: {1.00≤Φ≤−0.0908D.sup.2+0.5473D+1.547}.
Steel material composite, method for producing a component, and use
The present invention relates to a steel material composite having at least two layers (1, 2, 3, 4), comprising at least one first layer (1, 3) of a material-removable and/or shearable steel and at least one second layer (2, 4) of a formable steel, cohesively bonded to the first layer (1, 3).
