Machining fixture positioning switch
A switch housing body has a base and a sidewall having an axis and extending from the base to a rim and having a pair of axial slots. A switch cap has: a cap body having a top web; and a sidewall extending from the top web to a rim and having a pair of holes. A shaft passes through the pair of axial slots and pair of holes. A spring biases the cap axially away from the housing from a compressed condition to an extended condition. A cap electrical contact and a housing electrical contact have an electrically closed condition at the compressed condition.
FIXTURE AND METHOD FOR RESISTANCE WELDING OF A PAD TO A SURFACE
A fixture and method for resistance welding of at least one pad to at least one surface of an article is disclosed. The method includes mounting the article in the fixture, placing the at least one pad on the at least one surface of the article, positioning a first electrode of a resistance welding apparatus to the at least one pad and a second electrode of the resistance welding apparatus to the article, and applying pressure and electric current across the at least one pad and the at least one surface. The fixture includes a first, second and third support element, which, respectively, include a first, second and third contact surface being adapted and disposed to support a first, second and third portion of the article. The first, second and third contact surfaces are each inelastic and electrically insulating. The fixture is arranged and disposed to non-rotatably cradle the article.
Device for holding a turbine engine blade for the purposes of machining
A device for holding a turbine engine blade for purposes of machining, the device including a support including at least one housing in which at least one block is removably mounted, the block including two jaws presenting an opening for mounting an airfoil of a blade. The block further includes six presser points for pressing against the airfoil, and a movable presser finger for pressing against a pressure side surface or a suction side surface of the blade, the finger being moved by an actuation mechanism such that in a blade clamping position, the presser finger presses the blade against the presser points of the block, which itself is pressed against the support.
Modular workholding apparatus
A workholding apparatus for components having complex geometries or surfaces, which components are difficult constrain for the purpose of inspection, addresses the problem of adequately constraining such components in a convenient and cost-effective manner so that they do not move during inspection, while also making all or most critical features accessible to the inspection instruments being used. A method teaches how to eliminate setup changes between different components through the use of inexpensive modular attachments. These attachments are in the form of a single piece thermoplastic part which is affixed to each component having also reference features that can be interlocked into a common base fixture for more efficient inspection operations.
