A fixture includes a supporting body configured to support a front door panel (workpiece) in an inclined state, a pad capable of being abutted to a plate surface of the front door panel, and a negative-pressure unit serving to bring the plate surface of the front door panel into an attracted state by maintaining an inside of a space enclosed by the plate surface and the pad under negative pressure, while the pad is abutted to the plate surface of the front door panel. This negative-pressure unit can switch between a shutdown state in which an attracted state is not achieved, a weakly attracted state in which the attracted state is achieved with a relatively weak negative pressure, and a firmly attracted state in which the attracted state is achieved with a relatively strong negative pressure.

Unloading a cut-free workpiece part during machining

In the method according to the disclosure for the unloading of a workpiece part from a workpiece, in parallel with processing time, by means of an unloading element, e.g. a vacuum sucker, the workpiece part is cut from an especially plate-form workpiece by means of a laser beam. The movement of the laser beam relative to the workpiece at least along a first movement axis (X) is divided into a movement of the workpiece and a movement of the laser beam. Before executing a final cut, which separates the workpiece part from the workpiece, the workpiece is decelerated until standstill and the final cut is then executed for example, by moving the laser beam. The workpiece part is being unloaded by an unloading element that operates at least partially during cutting of the workpiece. The unloading element operates according to one of three operating options.

Vacuum chuck system for a weld tool

A specialized vacuum chuck system of the present invention is capable of securing an object to a specialized welding tool in order to ensure that the object remains in a proper positional relationship with the welding tool. The system may also use springs and load stops to ensure that a proper load in maintained so the chuck base is not pulled off the object.

SUPPORTING A CONTOURED SHEET OF MATERIAL DURING MACHINING OPERATIONS
20200282525 · 2020-09-10 ·

A machining support configured to reduce spring back of a sheet following a machining operation on the sheet is presented. The machining support comprises a porous material with a plurality of surfaces including a support surface having a contour configured to contact and support the sheet; sealing material covering each of the plurality of surfaces except the support surface; and a vacuum port configured to provide a vacuum to the porous material.

METHODS AND DEVICES FOR MACHINING A CHILLED WORKPIECE
20200276655 · 2020-09-03 ·

Machining apparatus for machining a chilled workpiece include a support surface that supports the chilled workpiece during machining by a machining tool of the machining apparatus, and further include a cooling system operatively coupled to the support surface. The cooling system prevents a machining temperature of an adhesive coupled to the chilled workpiece from rising beyond a predetermined threshold temperature during machining of the chilled workpiece, such that the cooling system prevents curing of the adhesive during machining of the chilled workpiece. The cooling system includes a cooling fluid that radiantly cools the chilled workpiece via the support surface while the chilled workpiece is supported by the support surface, such that the cooling system maintains the machining temperature of the adhesive (and of the chilled workpiece) below an ambient temperature. Related methods include machining the chilled workpiece using such machining apparatus.

Spindle device

In a spindle device, a movable member is provided on a cover member, which is attached to a spindle housing and covers the outer peripheral surface of a chuck portion which is a disk-shaped rotating member. The movable member is moved by a gas flowing through a flow passage formed in the cover member and thereby brought into contact with the chuck portion. The movable member is electrically connected to a ground.

A method and apparatus. The apparatus comprises a first portion of a tool and a second portion of the tool. The first portion of the tool has a first surface. The first surface has a shape that is complementary to a first portion of a part. The second portion has at least one of a second surface configured to be recessed from a second portion of the part or a hollow portion.

METHOD FOR FABRICATING VACUUM FIXTURING USING GRANULAR MEDIA
20200238459 · 2020-07-30 ·

A method for fabricating vacuum tooling is disclosed using porous granular media. A sheet of steel webbing is affixed to a frame. A plurality of layers of fiberglass is affixed to the webbing. A vacuum port is installed through the webbing and plurality of layers of fiberglass. A granular media is mixed with epoxy to form a granular mixture. The granular mixture is layered over the plurality of layers of fiberglass to form a flat surface and machined for uniformity before sealing.

SYSTEM, FIXTURE PLATE ASSEMBLY, AND METHOD FOR INDEXING A WORKPIECE
20200206880 · 2020-07-02 ·

Disclosed herein is a system for indexing a workpiece. The system comprises a vacuum source and a fixture plate, fluidly coupled with the vacuum source. The system also comprises an indexing stop, coupled to the fixture plate and fluidly coupled with the vacuum source. The indexing stop is actuatable between an extended position and a retracted position relative to the fixture plate. The vacuum source is selectively operable to concurrently apply a suction force to a workpiece supported on the fixture plate to urge the workpiece against the fixture plate and to the indexing stop to actuate the indexing stop from the extended position to the retracted position.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SINGLE-SIDED CLAMP-UP

Methods and apparatuses for aligning a first hole in a first panel with a second hole in a second panel to define a through-hole. A wall that defines the second hole is gripped from within the through-hole to pull the second panel towards the first panel and thereby establish a clamp-up of the first panel and the second panel.
