Apparatus and method for grasping a screw beneath the screw head with jaws and for releasing same
10252404 · 2019-04-09 ·

A dual chuck device with a shaft grasping assembly and a screw stem grasping assembly each with respective jaws, driving mechanism and sleeve. Upon turning a respective sleeve in one direction or the reverse direction, the respective drive mechanism moves the jaws toward or away from a grasping position. In the grasping position, the screw stem is grasped. When the sleeve is presses against a working surface being penetrated by a driven screw, the driving mechanism moves the jaws in the reverse direction to move them apart to no longer grasp the screw.

ROTARY TOOL ACCESSORY FOR INSTALLATION OF HOOD CUSHIONS
20190084055 · 2019-03-21 ·

A rotary tool accessory for installing a hood cushion in a vehicle component. The tool accessory includes a base portion structured to contact a hood cushion so as to enable rotation of the hood cushion by rotating the base portion. A hood cushion confinement portion is structured to enclose a portion of the hood cushion so as to limit or prevent radial expansion of the hood cushion during installation of the cushion into the vehicle component. The confinement portion is also structured and adjustably attachable to the base portion so as to control a movement of the base portion toward the surface of the component of the vehicle, such that a portion of the hood cushion extends past the surface of the vehicle component in a direction toward the base portion when the hood cushion has been completely installed in the vehicle component.

FASTENER HOLDER TOOL AND METHOD
20190054602 · 2019-02-21 ·

A fastener holder tool and method includes a fastener shaft having a fastener shaft distal end configured for complementary engagement with a fastener and first and second collars slidably mounted on the fastener shaft. The first collar has a base portion annularly disposed about the fastener shaft and a plurality of teeth arms extending from the base portion in a direction toward the fastener shaft distal end for resiliently holding the associated fastener. The second collar has a body portion annularly disposed about the fastener shaft and radially interposed between the fastener shaft and the plurality of teeth arms of the first collar. The fastener holder tool further includes a cam engagement between the first collar and the second collar that moves the plurality of teeth arms radially outwardly for releasing the associated fastener as the associated fastener is fully installed into an associated workpiece.

Push-off driver and method for inserting bone screws

A method and device for inserting screws into a patient, such that when the device is removed the device does not stick to the screw. The device, being a push-off driver, may have a handle, an inner driver, and a threaded driver sleeve having a button mechanism and a plurality of spheres, and an inner sleeve. The method includes the steps of assembling a push-off driver attaching a bone screw to the push-off driver inserting the bone screw and detaching the bone screw from the driver by unthreading the threaded driver sleeve from the polyaxial screw which causes the spheres in the recess of the inner driver to back up against the start of the recess and causing the threaded driver sleeve to push-off the polyaxial screw from the inner driver.

HEADLESS COMPRESSION SCREW DRIVER SYSTEM
20240325065 · 2024-10-03 ·

A compression screw driver system including a drive member having a shaft extending from a proximal end to a distal end. A drive selection member is positioned about the shaft and is axially moveable along the shaft between an engagement position and a disengaged position. A distal portion of the drive selection member defines a first engagement structure. A compression sleeve is positioned over the distal end of the shaft. The proximal end of the compression sleeve defines a second engagement structure which complements the first engagement structure and the distal end of the compression sleeve defines a contact surface. In the engagement position the first and second engagement structures are engaged and the compression sleeve rotates with the drive member and in the disengaged position the first and second engagement structures are disengaged and the compression sleeve remains stationary while the drive member rotates.

Multiple member interconnect for surgical instrument and absorbable screw fastener
10070860 · 2018-09-11 · ·

An absorbable screw fastener and a method of firing with an applicator capable of applying a surgical fastener to tissue in order to form tissue connection to secure objects to tissue, the fastener including a body portion having a helical thread, a head portion disposed at the proximal end of the body portion. The head portion includes a driver receiving configuration on its outer surface. The screw fastener further includes a cannulated center lumen with an opening extending from the head portion through the longitudinal length of the body portion.

Bolt retrieval apparatus and bolt retrieval system

A retrieval apparatus for retrieving a bolt includes a guide including an opening that passes through the guide vertically, a first plate that includes a first end, a second plate that includes a second end, the first end and the second end being arranged facing each other so as to define an adjacent region, on an upper side of the opening. When the bolt is inserted from inside the opening toward the adjacent region, the first plate and the second plate abut against the bolt and pivot upwards, and the first end and the second end abut against a side surface of the bolt and grip the bolt.

Driver/Fastener Inter-engagement System

Embodiments of the present invention provide a screw and driver system comprising a range of screws and a driver for said range. Each screw comprises a head having a driving recess in its surface for engagement by said driver. Each recess has a recess longitudinal axis. The recess of larger screws in the range has a plurality of superimposed recess-tiers of decreasing size with increasing depth from said surface, each recess-tier except the smallest having substantially parallel driving surfaces substantially parallel said recess longitudinal axis. The driving head of the driver has a driver longitudinal axis and a plurality of superimposed drive-tiers of decreasing size towards a tip of the driver, each drive-tier except the smallest having substantially parallel driving surfaces substantially parallel said longitudinal axis. The driver and recess are shaped so that, when the driver is engaged with the recess of any screw in said range, torque applied to the driver is transmitted to the screw through said driving surfaces. The smallest recess-tier of larger screws has a mouth in a floor of an adjacent recess-tier and has recess flanks that are all tapered from the mouth towards the recess longitudinal axis at a recess taper angle between 1.91 and 6.85. The smallest drive-tier of the driver has a root in a base of an adjacent drive-tier and has drive flanks that are all tapered from the root towards the driver longitudinal axis at a tier taper angle between minus 1.5 and plus 2.5 difference with respect to said recess taper angle. The diameter of the drive-tier at the root and the diameter of the recess-tier at the mouth are such that, on insertion of said driver head in the screw recess, said drive and recess flanks inter-engage to deform and stick together through frictional engagement before said base engages said floor.
