A method for processing polycondensates, wherein the material in the form of granules or recyclate is processed to form a melt, the method including the following steps: a) feeding the material into a vacuum lock where the material is held below atmospheric pressure; b) conveying the material from the vacuum lock into a first extruder having a filling region and a feed zone that are held below atmospheric pressure, wherein the material is at least partially melted in the first extruder; c) conveying the melted material from the first extruder into a second, twin-screw extruder with two screws that turn in the opposite direction. The second extruder has at least one degassing zone and a metering zone that follows in the conveying direction. The melted material is degassed in the degassing zone and the melted material is pressurized in the metering zone and is output out of the second extruder.

The instant invention also concerns a system and method of dosing a polymer mixture with a first solvent into an extruder (26), a device (5), a system and a method of solvent extraction from at least one polymeric yarn, and a method and system of mechanical pre-recovery (4) of at least one liquid in at least one polymeric yarn.

A fully impregnated fiber-reinforced thermoplastic granule includes a fiber core impregnated with a thermoplastic resin and coated with the resin and subsequently polymerized to form a thermoplastic. The granule is formed in a continuous process including a continuous fiber strand being coated and impregnated with a thermoplastic resin, curing the thermoplastic resin, and cutting the fiber and thermoplastic into granules of a desired length. The continuous process results in a uniform, fully impregnated fiber core in the granule which results in a longer reinforcing fiber for added strength in subsequently produced products formed from the granules.

A foamable polymeric mixture is provided that includes a polymer composition and at least one blowing agent. The foamable polymeric mixture may further includes at least one processing aid comprising an organic phase changing material. The inventive foamable mixture is capable of processing at a pressure range of 800 to 1200 psi (5.5 to 8.3 MPa).

Systems and methods are provided for mixing parts of a thermoset resin during impregnation of a composite preform. One embodiment is a method that includes positioning a composite preform at a forming tool, flowing a first part of the thermoset resin into a mixing chamber at the forming tool, flowing a second part of the thermoset resin that is chemically distinct from the first part of the thermoset resin into the mixing chamber, mixing the first part and the second part to form the thermoset resin within the mixing chamber, and infusing the thermoset resin from the mixing chamber into the preform.
