Polycarbonate composition to produce optical quality products with high quality and good processability
A process for manufacturing a polycarbonate composition includes melt polymerizing a dihydroxy compound and a carbonate compound in the presence of a catalyst to form a polycarbonate; and adding 1 to 400 ppm of glycerol tristearate to form the polycarbonate composition, wherein the polycarbonate composition is unquenched.
PROCESS FOR PREPARING A POLYOLEFIN COMPOSITION
A process for continuously preparing a polyolefin composition made from or containing a bimodal or multimodal polyolefin and one or more additives in an extruder device equipped with at least one hopper. The process includes the steps of supplying a bimodal or multimodal polyolefin in form of a polyolefin powder to the hopper; (a) measuring the flow rate of the polyolefin powder or (b) measuring the flow rate of the prepared polyolefin pellets; supplying one or more additives to the hopper; adjusting the flow rates of the additives supplied to the hopper in response to the measured flow rate of the polyolefin powder or adjusting the flow rate of the polyolefin powder in response to the measured flow rate of the polyolefin pellets; melting and homogenizing the polyolefin powder and additives within the extruder device; and pelletizing the molten polyolefin composition into the polyolefin pellets.
PROCESS, APPARATUS AND SYSTEM FOR CREATING EXTRUDED MATERIAL HAVING COLOR EFFECTS AND PRODUCTS MADE WITH EXTRUDED MATERIAL CREATED WITH SAME
A process and associated system for creating color effects using extrudable material, such as plastic and metal for example, are presented. Flows of first and second viscous materials of respective colors are provided and then combined in a predetermined pattern to form a stream of combined viscous material. A dynamic mixer is the then used to apply a predetermined dividing, overturning and combining motion to the stream of combined viscous material to partially mix the first viscous material and the second viscous material, such that upon exiting the dynamic mixer, the first material of the first color and the second material of the second color form a color pattern in the stream of combined viscous material. The dynamic mixer has elements configured for acquiring a specific radial orientation in a range of radial orientations that may be varied during the application of the dividing, overturning and combining motion to the stream of combined viscous material to cause variations in the color pattern in the stream of combined viscous material. Sheets of extruded material may be created using such process and system and used in the manufacturing of many different products including, but not limited to, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, garden furniture and many others. In some embodiments, the sheets may be characterized by color bands extending diagonally with reference to a longitudinal extent of the sheet.
EXTRUSION FACILITY COMPRISING AN IMPROVED EXTRUSION HEAD
The facility for manufacturing a profile strip made from several elastomer mixtures with different compositions by coextrusion includes at least two extruders which feed elastomer mixtures to an extrusion head. The extruders discharge directly into the extrusion head, which is interchangeable and groups together all of the dimensional tooling.
Spectral properties-based system and method for feeding masterbatches into a plastic processing machine
A method and system for optimizing a match between the color of an in-line part manufactured by a plastic product production machine and the color of a reference part by adjusting the concentration of masterbatch in the mixture of raw material fed to the plastic product production machine. The optimization of the color is based on spectra of the in-line part and reference part obtained within a short time interval using the same spectrometer, thereby eliminating the requirement for high accuracy spectrometer calibration and allowing the method, which determines the rates at which the base masterbatches are added to the raw material, to be carried out in real time on the manufacturing floor while the plastic product production machine is being operated to manufacture in-line parts.
Conveying System for Bulk Goods, in Particular Plastic Granules, and Method for Conveying Bulk Goods, in Particular Plastic Granules
The invention relates to a conveying system for bulk goods, in particular plastic granules, which conveying system has at least two senders (A to C) and at least two receivers (I to IV), which are connected to each other by conveying lines (7 to 9) via at least one switch station (1). The switch station (1) has at least two inlets (4 to 6) and at least two outlets (10 to 12), which are each provided with a valve (13) and which are provided on a coupling tube (2) that connects the inlets (4 to 6) and the outlets (10 to 12). The switch station (1) has at least one venting valve (14, 15, 32), which is provided on the coupling tube (2).
Multi-dispenser plural component dispensing system
A plural component dispensing system individually delivers separate material components to each of a plurality of proportioners. Each of the proportioners regulates volumetric flow of each of the separate material components to produce a target ratio of the separate material components associated with the proportioner. The target ratios associated with the plurality of proportioners can be the same or different target ratios. Each proportioner delivers the separate material components at the associated target ratio to one of a plurality of dispensing devices. Each dispensing device mixes the separate components received at the corresponding target ratio and delivers the components as a mixture.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR STATUS INDICATION OF FLUID DELIVERY SYSTEMS
A fluid delivery system includes a status indicator and control system comprising a processor. The processor is configured to receive a first signal indicative of a first status of operations of a spray application system. The processor is further configured to provide to an operator of a spray gun, via a display system, a visualization representative of the first status of operations, and techniques to control the fluid delivery system, wherein the spray application system is configured to deliver at least one fluid to the spray gun during operations.
CONTINUOUS COMPOUNDING SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF USE
Continuous compounding systems include a feeding section and a compounding section. Method for compounding or mixing solid matter and liquid matter include providing a continuous compounding system, adding matter to the continuous compounding system, and mixing or compounding the matter.
Kneading method for fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin, plasticizing device, and extruding machine
The present invention provides a kneading method for a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin with which dispersibility of reinforcement fibers is enhanced and sufficient reinforcement fibers having a proper fiber length remain, and a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin plasticizing device and an extruding machine for carrying out the method. The kneading method comprises supplying a thermoplastic resin and reinforcement fibers into a cylinder of a plasticizing device, and rotating a screw to obtain a fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin, wherein the size of a clearance between the bore of the cylinder and the screw is made different between an upstream side in the vicinity of a reinforcement fiber loading port and a downstream side, so that the clearance becomes larger from the vicinity of the reinforcement fiber loading port toward the downstream side compared with the upstream side.
