The invention provides methods and compositions for carbonation of a wet cement mix. The wet cement mix may be carbonated prior to addition of aggregates, admixture, SCM, and/or other components to produce a carbonated concrete mix. The methods and compositions may include high shear mixing of a cement or concrete mix, either during or before carbonation.

The invention relates to a metering pump having a hydraulic drive (12) for supplying a hydraulic fluid under pressure. The metering pump furthermore comprises a housing (2) and an oscillating piston (3), which is accommodated in the housing (2) in such a way that at least a first and a second hydraulic chamber (9-1, 9-2) and a first (6-1) and a second delivery chamber (6-2) are formed, wherein the oscillating piston (3) has at least a first driving surface (10-1) in the first hydraulic chamber (9-1) and at least a second driving surface (10-2) in the second hydraulic chamber (9-2), and the hydraulic chambers (9-1, 9-2) communicate with the hydraulic drive, thus enabling the oscillating piston (3) to be moved backward and forward between a first and a second position by the hydraulic fluid, wherein, during the movement from the first to the second position, the volume of the first delivery chamber (6-1) is enlarged and the volume of the second delivery chamber (6-2) is reduced and, during the movement from the second to the first position, the volume of the second delivery chamber (6-2) is enlarged and the volume of the first delivery chamber (6-1) is reduced. The invention furthermore relates to a metering system for mixing two fluids and a metering system for metering at least one fluid.

The invention relates to a method for the changing of material from a starting material to a subsequent material with an extrusion device (10) for the production of extrusion products (100) comprising the following steps: recognition of a change of material requirement, performance of at least one preparation step for the change of material, performance of the change of material after termination of at least one of the preparation steps.

A gravimetric blender has a frame, at least one material storage hopper at the top of the frame including a hopper cover, a weigh bin located within the frame, below the hopper, for receipt of material from the hopper to be weighed and being adapted for downward discharge of the material in the bin after the material received from the hopper has been weighed, at least one load cell connecting the weigh bin to the frame for sensing the weight of contents of the weigh bin, a mixer within the frame below the hopper, for mixing material weighed in the weigh bin after that material falls downwardly from the weigh bin to the mixer, and a guide adapted for vertical movement of the hopper cover therealong between positions which the cover contacts and thereby closes the hopper and at which the cover is spaced vertically but maintained in a horizontal plane above the hopper so that the hopper is open at the top.

In the production of thermoplastic granulate material, after mixing the starting materials, it is common in the state of the art for these materials to be kneaded and compressed in extruders, with subsequent granulation. According to the invention, no extruder is used, rather the starting materials for the thermoplastic granulate material are supplied directly to a double belt press after the mixing. Subsequently, the generated web-type to sheet-type body is processed into a granulate material by means of grinding, or is used as a web-type, sheet-type, strip-type or film-type intermediate product for the production of a further intermediate product or end products.

In the manufacturing method and manufacturing arrangement according to the invention for a silicone composition the mixer mixing the different subcomponents of the silicone composition are removed for the duration of downtime and cooled to a temperature, in which the chemical reaction between the different subcomponents of the silicone composition stops. In the manufacturing method of the invention the mixer is reconnected to the manufacturing apparatus arrangement after downtime without cleaning it from the silicone composition subcomponents remaining in the mixer.

A method of forming a fiber-reinforced molding compound. The method includes pre-impregnating carbon reinforcing fibers with a polymeric material to form one or more pre-impregnated continuous strands having at least 30% of the fibers protected by the polymeric material. The method further includes storing the one or more pre-impregnated continuous strands in bulk. The method also includes introducing the one or more pre-impregnated continuous strands into an extruder, forming a molding compound from the one or more pre-impregnated continuous strands, dispensing the molding compound from the extruder, and using the molding compound to produce a part.

A method of forming a fiber-reinforced molding compound. The method includes pre-impregnating reinforcing fibers with a polymeric material to form one or more pre-impregnated continuous tapes. The method further includes storing the one or more pre-impregnated continuous tapes in bulk, and introducing the one or more pre-impregnated continuous tapes into an extruder. The method further includes forming a molding compound from the one or more pre-impregnated continuous tapes, dispensing the molding compound from the extruder, and using the molding compound to produce a part.

Apparatus for producing a mixture of at least one gas and at least one liquid plastic component, includes a mixing device that is connected, via a first pipe, to an introducing device for the at least one gas and is connected, via a second pipe, to a conveying device for that at least one liquid plastic component. The introducing device and the conveying device are designed as piston pumps that have pistons.
