METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING BULKED CONTINUOUS CARPET FILAMENT
A method of manufacturing bulked continuous carpet filament from recycled polymer. In various embodiments, the method includes: (1) reducing recycled polymer material into polymer flakes; (2) cleansing the polymer flakes; (3) melting the flakes into a polymer melt; (4) removing water and contaminants from the polymer melt by dividing the polymer melt into a plurality of polymer streams and exposing those streams to pressures below 25 millibars or another predetermined pressure; (5) recombining the streams; and (6) using the resulting purified polymer to produce bulked continuous carpet filament.
METHODS FOR PRODUCING POLYMER FIBERS AND POLYMER FIBER PRODUCTS FROM MULTICOMPONENT FIBERS
The present invention relates to methods of producing polymer fibers and polymer fiber products and materials recovery from these processes. It is an object of this invention to produce polymer fibers and products that include these fibers using selective dissolution of multicomponent fiber and to recover the dissolved polymer and solvent for subsequent use.

The present invention addresses the problem of efficiently manufacturing a recycled pulp from a used sanitary article, said recycled pulp being reusable for sanitary articles and having an ash content and antibacterial properties both meeting the standards for sanitary articles. A method for manufacturing a recycled pulp reusable for sanitary articles by recovering a pulp fiber from a used sanitary article that contains the pulp fiber and a high water-absorbing polymer, said method comprising an ozone treatment step for immersing the used sanitary article or pulp fiber in an ozone-containing aqueous solution and thus disintegrating the high water-absorbing polymer contained in the used sanitary article or sticking to the pulp fiber, characterized in that the used sanitary article or pulp fiber is treated with a cationic antibacterial agent before, after or together with the ozone treatment step.
METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING BULKED CONTINUOUS FILAMENT
A method of manufacturing bulked continuous carpet filament, in various embodiments, comprises: (A) providing an expanded surface area extruder; (B) providing a spinning machine having an inlet that is operatively coupled to an expanded surface area extruder outlet; (C) using a pressure regulation system to reduce the pressure within the expanded surface area extruder; (D) passing a plurality of flakes comprising recycled PET through the expanded surface area extruder to at least partially melt the plurality of flakes to form a polymer melt; and (E) substantially immediately after passing the plurality of flakes through the expanded surface area extruder, using the spinning machine to form the polymer melt into bulked continuous carpet filament. In some embodiments, the method may include passing the plurality of flakes comprising recycled PET through a PET crystallizer prior to extrusion.
METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING BULKED CONTINUOUS FILAMENT
A method of manufacturing bulked continuous carpet filament which, in various embodiments, comprises: (A) washing a plurality of flakes of recycled PET; (B) providing a PET crystallizer; (C) after the step of washing the plurality of flakes, passing the plurality of flakes of recycled PET through the PET crystallizer; (D) at least partially melting the plurality of flakes into a polymer melt; (E) providing a multi-rotating screw (MRS) extruder having an MRS section; and a vacuum pump in communication with the MRS section; (F) using the vacuum pump to reduce a pressure within the MRS Section; (G) after the step of passing the plurality of flakes through the PET crystallizer, passing the polymer melt through the MRS Section; and (H) after the step of passing the polymer melt through the MRS extruder, forming the polymer melt into bulked continuous carpet filament.
RECYCLABLE COATINGS AND USE THEREOF FOR PRINTING REUSABLE PLASTICS
A coating material for the production of a UV-curing primer coating. The coating material includes 60 to 80 wt.-% of at least one difunctional, alcoxylated acrylate monomer, 5 to 15 wt.-% of at least one acrylate oligomer, 5 to 15 wt.-% of at least one carbonyl-functional acrylate and/or at least one methacrylate oligomer or 5 to 15 wt.-% of at least one polyethylene glycol acrylate and/or at least one polyethylene glycol methacrylate, and 1 to 10 wt.-% of at least one photoinitiator, each based on a total weight of the coating material.
METHOD FOR SEPARATING AND RECYCLING A WASTE POLYESTER-COTTON TEXTILE BY MEANS OF A HYDROTHERMAL REACTION CATALYZED BY AN ORGANIC ACID
A method for separating and recycling a waste polyester-cotton textile by a hydrothermal reaction catalyzed by an organic acid, comprising the following steps: dividing a waste polyester-cotton textile into fragments and dispersing in an aqueous solution system of the organic acid catalyst to obtain a mixed system; in a high-pressure reactor, heating the mixed system to 110180 C. so that cotton fibers in the waste polyester-cotton textile undergo a degradation reaction for 0.53 h to obtain a mixture; and filtering the mixture by a sieve, washing to obtain a polyester fiber aggregate, and then filtering the remaining portion by a filtration membrane in vacuum so as to obtain cotton fiber fragments after washing. Embodiments of the present disclosure may provide advantages for the separation, recycling and reuse of waste polyester-cotton textiles. For example, the catalyst used during processing is derived from nature and is biodegradable.
FACILITY FOR SEPARATING LAYERS IN MULTILAYER SYSTEMS
A facility 300 for separation of layers in a multilayer system 310. The facility 300 comprises one or more baths 320a, 320b for accepting the multilayer system 310 and a dispenser 330 for providing a separation fluid 340. The separation fluid 340 comprises a nanoscale dispersion for washing the multilayer system in the baths 320a, 320b and is described in more details below. The facility 300 also includes a filtration device 350 for filtering separated undissolved components of the multilayer system 310.
METHOD FOR RECOVERING PULP FIBER FROM USED SANITARY PRODUCT AND RECYCLED PULP OBTAINED THEREBY
Pulp fiber containing little ash is effectively recovered from a used sanitary product containing the pulp fiber and a polymer absorbent. The method according to the present invention comprises: a step for treating the used sanitary product with an ozone-containing gas and thus decomposing and removing at least a portion of the polymer absorbent in the used sanitary product; and a step for stirring the used sanitary product, that has been treated with the ozone-containing gas, in water or an aqueous solution containing an antiseptic and thus decomposing the used sanitary product into constituents. If required, the method may further comprise a step for separating the pulp fiber from the decomposition product obtained by the decomposition step.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING BULKED CONTINUOUS FILAMENT
Systems for manufacturing bulked continuous carpet filament from polymer, where the systems are configured for: (1) melting polymer (e.g., derived from post-consumer PET bottles) to create a first single stream of polymer melt; (2) separating the first single stream of polymer melt into multiple streams of polymer melt; (3) exposing the multiple streams of polymer melt to a pressure of between about 0 millibars and about 5 millibars; (4) allowing the multiple streams of polymer melt to fall into a receiving section of a melt processing unit; (5) recombining the multiple streams of polymer melt into a second single stream of polymer melt; and (6) providing the second single stream of polymer melt to one or more spinning machines that are configured to form the second single stream of polymer melt into bulked continuous carpet filament.
