Polymer matrix composite repair
A procedure for repairing a polymer matrix composite component is provided. The procedure includes the steps of: providing a polymer matrix composite component having a site prepared for repair by removal of damaged or defective material; locating an uncured, polymer matrix composite repair patch at the site to re-build the component thereat; and curing the polymer matrix of the repair patch by heating the patch using eddy currents induced by one or more alternating current coils. The repair patch is without metallic additives, such that the repaired polymer matrix composite after the curing step is also without metallic additives in the vicinity of the repair patch.
INJECTION MOLDING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR INJECTION MOLDING
An injection molding device according to an embodiment of the present disclosure includes a first mold including a first injection port through which a raw material is injected; a second mold including a heating member; a first movable mold facing the first mold or the second mold and having a first cavity formed therein; and a second movable mold facing the first mold or the second mold and having a second cavity formed therein, wherein the position of the first movable mold and the position of the second movable mold can be changed.
SURFACE PROTRUSION FORMATIONS AND METHODS OF MANUFACTURING
Methods and systems for mechanically forming one or more surface protrusions integrally from a garment material, the one or more surface protrusions extending outwardly from a garment surface of the garment material, include pre-heating at least one selected area of the garment material; placing the at least one selected area of the garment surface that is pre-heated against a first surface of a forming die, the first surface having a plurality of openings which have a configuration and orientation corresponding with the configuration and orientation of the one or more surface protrusions of the garment material. The garment surface may be softened by application of a source of energy, at least some of the softened garment surface positioned into at least one opening of the plurality of openings.
Method and system for co-consolidation of thermoplastic composite material parts
A co-consolidation tool, including a heating assembly to receive one or more thermoplastic parts and to apply a consolidation temperature to the one or more thermoplastic parts, a pressure bladder to apply a consolidation pressure to the one or more thermoplastic parts, and a support insert shaped and configured to support and at least partially surround at least one of the one or more thermoplastic parts, wherein at least one of heating assembly and the pressure bladder is shaped to receive and support the support insert.
Processing apparatus for elongated structure and manufacturing method for elongated structure
An apparatus for processing an elongated structure includes a mold within which an uncross-linked rubber material is placed, at least one heating unit configured to heat the mold, and a pressure device configured to press the rubber material using the mold heated by the heating unit to promote shaping the rubber material by the mold while proceeding the cross-linking of the rubber material. The heating unit includes a central heating device configured to heat a longitudinal central portion of the mold, multiple cooling devices configured to cool two longitudinal end portions of the mold, multiple intermediate heating devices configured to heat two intermediate portions between the longitudinal central portion and the longitudinal end portions of the mold, heat shield plates disposed between the central heating device and the intermediate heating devices, and heat shield plates disposed between the cooling devices and the intermediate heating devices.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR HEATING A MOULD
A mold to shape a material having a polymer matrix. The mold includes a first and a second die having molding surfaces. The molding surfaces delimit a molding cavity configured to shape the material when the first and the second dies are brought in contact with each other and the mold is closed. The heating plates include a ferromagnetic material configured to be heated by induction, and to transfer heat from a heat transfer surface of the heating plate to a receiving surface of the dies, other than the molding surfaces. The heating plates include heating and cooling channels. The heating channels of the heating plates have an inductor. The cooling channels of the heating plates are configured to circulate a heat transfer fluid.
Induction Curing of Cell-Based Structural Arrays
Adhesive bondlines in a cell-based structural array are thermally cured using tooling blocks inserted into the cells. The tooling blocks have embedded susceptors that are inductively heated by an alternating electromagnetic field generated by an electromagnet.
TOOL APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING A COMPOSITE MATERIAL COMPONENT PART AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A COMPONENT PART FROM A COMPOSITE MATERIAL
The invention relates to a tool apparatus for producing a composite material component part, comprising a forming tool having a contact region for a workpiece, wherein the forming tool is made, in at least a portion thereof, of an electrically conductive material; and an induction heating apparatus having an inductive heating mat, wherein the heating mat is positioned in spaced relation to the forming tool, and wherein a positioning of the workpiece is provided between the heating mat and the forming tool, in contact with the forming tool, and wherein heating of the forming tool is provided, in at least a portion thereof, by the induction heating apparatus. The invention further relates to a method for producing a component part from a composite material by way of a forming tool.
Assembly and method for sealing a bundle of wires
A sealing assembly for sealing a bundle of wires includes a first sheet formed of a sealant material, a second sheet disposed above the first sheet, and a third sheet disposed above the second sheet formed of the sealant material. The second sheet includes a thermally conductive material. When the bundle of wires is overlaid on the assembly in a first direction, and the assembly is wrapped in a second direction that is generally perpendicular to the first to thereby surround the wires, the second sheet facilitates enhanced thermal energy distribution of applied heat throughout the assembly to thereby more uniformly melt the sealant material and thereby fill voids between the wires.
POST CURING PROCESS FOR COMPOSITE PARTS PRODUCED BY FILAMENT WINDING MANUFACTURING PROCESS
A process for post curing a composite product made from a filament winding process comprises the steps of: surrounding the composite product, that is disposed about a rotatable mandrel, with an outer jacket; and simultaneously rotating and heating the mandrel resulting in post curing of the composite product according to a process that can be referred to as being a combo-semi-centrifugal post curing process.
