A system and method (10) for heating objects (O) during a thermal treatment process in a production line (P) is described. The system (10) comprises a transport system (11), a minor arrangement (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206) comprising a first mirror surface (21, 21′, 21″) and a second minor surface (22, 22′, 22″) arranged at opposite sides, so that the objects (O) may be transported between the minor surfaces (21, 22, 21′, 22′, 21″, 22″) along the production line and a radiation device (30) comprising a number of lasers for generating light (L). The radiation device (30) and the mirror arrangement (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206) are constructed such that the main direction (R) of light (L) that enters the mirror arrangement (201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206) is directed towards the first mirror surface (21, 21′, 21″) at an angle to the production line (P), and the light (L) subsequently undergoes multiple reflections between the mirror surfaces (21, 22, 21′, 22′, 21″, 22″) so that a series of multiple reflections of the light (L) travels in the transport direction (OT) along at least a section of the minor surface (21, 22, 21′, 22′, 21″, 22″) or travels against the transport direction (OT) along at least a section of the minor surface (21, 22, 21′, 22′, 21″, 22″) and heats the objects (O) being transported between the minor surfaces (21, 22, 21′, 22′, 21″, 22″).

A method and system to dry crack-free and high strength skin including an inorganic binder of an average particle size (D.sub.50) in a range between 10 nm and 700 nm on a porous ceramic body. The method includes supporting the honeycomb body on an end face such that axial channels and outer periphery are substantially vertical. A gas is flowed past the honeycomb body substantially parallel to the axial channel direction, substantially equally around the outer periphery of the skin, to uniformly dry the skin to form a partially dried skin under mild conditions. Then the partially dried skin may be dried more severely resulting in rapidly dried crack-free and high strength skin.

A device configuring a user-specific hearing system includes a sound generator for generating sound events and a control unit. At least one loudspeaker at a distance from the user of the hearing system and a control unit for reproducing sound events is provided. The control unit causes the sound generator to generate sound events with different frequencies in a predetermined sequence. The generated sound events are amplified and transmitted for reproduction as sound events with the same loudness to the loudspeaker unit or reproduced directly by the hearing system. The control unit receives evaluation data representing a user-perceived loudness difference between repeated sound events adjacent in the frequency range. The control unit generates correction values which are outputted and can be used in the hearing system in order to configure its converter unit in such a manner that the perceived loudness difference is reduced or preferably eliminated.

Methods for manufacturing articles of footwear are provided. In various aspects, the methods comprise utilizing additive manufacturing methods with foam particles. In some aspects, the additive manufacturing methods comprise increasing the temperature of a plurality of foam particles with actinic radiation under conditions effective to fuse a portion of the plurality of foam particles comprising one or more thermoplastic elastomers. Increasing the temperature of the foam particles can be carried out for one or multiple iterations. The disclosed methods can be used to manufacturer articles with sub-regions that exhibit differing degrees of fusion between the foam particles, thereby resulting in sub-regions with different properties such as density, resilience, and/or flexural modulus. Also epoxy resin formulations of a mixture of a liquid epoxy resin and a solid or semi-solid epoxy resin containing a photoinitiator are used as the matrix in prepregs which are cured or partially cured by radiation to avoid the need for thermal cure in an oven. The formulation is particularly useful in the production of wind turbine blades especially in an automated process. Additionally an automated tape laying apparatus comprising compaction device, a heat source and a second radiation source.
