This invention relates to a method of forming a polymer component and comprises blending polymer particles with antioxidant to form a mixture in which the antioxidant coats the polymer particles, irradiating the polymer particles to cross-link the polymer particles therein and forming the irradiated mixture into a consolidated component. The invention also relates to a method of forming an articular surface for a prosthesis and a prosthesis having a polymer articular bearing surface wherein at least one pre-determined portion of the bearing surface is provided with cross-linked polymer bonds.

A method of manufacturing a silicone ring consisting of two outer-band halves formed by compression silicone-molding in a first mold and an inner-band formed by placing half of the outer-bands of the ring in a second mold, placing a spacer-insert mold over the second mold, inserting a silicone rubber in the cavities of a spacer-insert mold, inserting the remaining outer-band halves into a fourth mold, inserting the three molds into a compression chamber to vulcanize the outer-band halves and the inner-band together, wherein the first and second outer-bands form a complete ring, and a symmetrical inner-band is formed in between the first and second outer-band halves.
MOLDING METHOD
A method of molding a composite structure having continuous fibers contained therein is disclosed. The method including the steps of compressing a first composite material in a mold; forming a cavity in the first composite material; placing a second composite material having continuous fibers contained therein in the cavity formed in the first composite material to minimize movement and distortion of the continuous fibers; compressing the first composite material such that the compression of the first composite material causes the first composite material to flow to edges of the second composite material; and allowing the first composite material to bond to the second composite material under molding temperature and pressure to form the composite structure.

Disclosed is a method for producing an automobile sound absorbing member through molding. In the method, a first fibrous layer and a second fibrous layer are bonded to each other and molded at the same time, so that a working process and a process cycle are simplified, thereby improving production speed and reducing investment for equipment and facility. The method includes (a) preparing a first fibrous layer and a second fibrous layer, (b) providing an adhesive member between the first fibrous layer and the second fibrous layer and placing an aggregate of the first fibrous layer, adhesive member, and the second fibrous layer in a molding machine, and (c) pressing an upper mold and a lower mold of the molding machine so that the first fibrous layer and the second fibrous layer are bonded and molded into a molded body.

The second press device includes a pressurizing surface formed of a metal press plate, the laminate molded article being pressurized by a driving force of a servomotor. The third press device includes a pressurizing surface formed of a metal press plate, the laminate molded article being pressurized by a driving force of a servomotor.
