Planarization treatment of pressure sensitive adhesive for rigid-to-rigid substrate lamination
The present invention is a process for performing a planarization treatment of pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA). The process includes positioning a first substrate onto a support surface of a planarization tool. The process further includes placing at least one layer of PSA onto the first substrate. The process further includes positioning a second substrate onto the layer(s) of PSA. The process further includes applying a pressure to the second substrate via a flexible membrane, said pressure being applied in a generally uniform, unidirectional and localized manner. Further, the applied pressure flattens the PSA between the first substrate and the second substrate for promoting suitability of the PSA for use in rigid-to-rigid lamination processes.
System and method for manufacturing panels for use in wind turbine rotor blade components
A system for manufacturing a panel includes a support frame, a first caul plate arranged atop the support frame, a second caul plate arranged atop the first caul plate, and a heating assembly having a housing defining an inlet and an outlet. The housing includes one or more heaters. The heater(s) is configured to generate heat and the housing is configured to generate a first pressurized gas film. Thus, one or more layers of material to be consolidated may be placed between the first and second caul plates and drawn through the heating assembly as the heating assembly applies pressure to the one or more layers of material to be consolidated via the first pressurized gas film in combination with applying the heat via the one or more heaters, thereby consolidating the panel.
Molding apparatus and article manufacturing method
There is provided a molding apparatus that molds a composition on a substrate by using a mold, characterized by including a control unit configured to control a process of forming a film of the composition between a first surface of the mold and the substrate by bringing the first surface into contact with the composition, and a deforming unit configured to deform the first surface into a convex shape with respect to a substrate side by applying power to a second surface of the mold on an opposite side to the first surface, wherein the control unit controls the deforming unit in the process so as to make power applied to the second surface by the deforming unit after contact between the first surface and the composition larger than power applied to the second surface by the deforming unit before the contact between the first surface and the composition.
Curing mold for manufacturing a turbomachine component made of composite material from a preform and method for producing a component by means of such a mold
The invention relates to a curing mold (10) for manufacturing a turbomachine component made of composite material from a preform (200), comprising: a first and a second body (11, 12) defining an air gap receiving the preform; at least one primary channel (21) arranged in the first and/or the second body; an injection member (22) of a pressurized fluid in the primary channels; at least one secondary channel (23), in which a piston (24) slides, which delimits, on the one hand, a first chamber (26) in communication with the or a primary channel and, on the other hand, a second chamber (27) in communication with the air gap, and which is designed to compress thermosetting resin which has entered the second chamber from the preform in the air gap, so as to put the preform under hydrostatic pressure.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL BASED ON CHARCOAL AND POLYMER BINDER
Subject of the invention is a composite material comprising charcoal powder which is dispersed in a polymer matrix, wherein the polymer comprises polyfurfuryl alcohol (PFA). The invention also relates to shaped objects comprising the composite material, uses thereof and methods for the production.
