BELT CALENDER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING PREIMPREGNATED COMPOSITES

A belt calender for manufacturing preimpregnated composites includes a first roller, which is rotatable around its longitudinal axis, a first belt running at least partly around the first roller; and a second belt running in between the first roller and the first belt. The first belt and the second belt guide a feed of material between them. The belt calender includes auxiliary rollers which are rotatable around their longitudinal axes, and are arranged substantially parallel to the first roller around at least a part of a circumference thereof. The first and second belt run in between two adjacent ones of the plurality of auxiliary rollers, thereby defining a meandering path for the feed of material. A method for manufacturing preimpregnated composites by using such a belt calender.

A roll stack for the production of plastic sheeting uses a pneumatically-operated toggle joint, instead of a hydraulic press, to precisely separate two rollers. The pneumatically-operated toggle joint allows the rollers to be more quickly and safely further separated from each other in case there is an emergency.

According to the invention, the two extruders (200, 300) are superposed and arranged on either side of a horizontal plane P extending at the level of the guide rollers (62, 63).

Roll-molding

Discrete male touch fastener elements are molded of thermoplastic resin extending from a common, flexible base sheet, by introducing molten resin to a molding nip between two counter-rotating rolls consisting of a mold roll and a pressure roll arranged such that their rotation axes are parallel and together define a common plane containing each of the rotation axes. Solidified resin is stripped from molding cavities of the mold roll after the cavities have passed a rotating reaction roll forming a pressure nip with the mold roll. The reaction roll is spaced from the pressure roll by a distance less than an outer diameter of the mold roll, and the mold roll is simultaneously held against both the pressure roll and the reaction roll in a non-planar roll stack.

Electrode sheet manufacturing device

In an electrode sheet manufacturing device, in a state where an electric potential difference is generated between a gravure roll and a current collecting foil conveyed by a backup roll, a powder mixture made as powder of an electrode active material and powder of a binder are mixed without a solvent is continuously fed into a depressed portion on an outer peripheral surface of the gravure roll, and an electric potential difference is generated between the powder mixture fed into the depressed portion of the gravure roll, and the current collecting foil. Due to electrostatic force acting between the powder mixture and the current collecting foil, the powder mixture is moved from the gravure roll to a surface of the current collecting foil. Circumferential speed of the gravure roll is higher than circumferential speed of the backup roll.

Calender having a roll with side collars

A profiling calender includes an intermediate roll, a lower roll, and a pair of intermediate lugs. The intermediate and lower rolls are separated by a distance defining a height of a second profiling nip. The intermediate lugs are situated at ends of the intermediate and lower rolls and include two quarter-circle bearing surfaces that meet at the second profiling nip. Each end of the intermediate roll or each end of the lower roll is equipped with a collar fastened to the roll and positioned between the roll and a quarter-circle bearing surface of a corresponding intermediate lug. The collar enables a radius of the roll to be increased by a height equal to the separation distance in order to improve an appearance of edges of a profiled element produced by the calender.

Roller assembly for forming adjacent curved surfaces in a composite gap filler member includes a first roller supported by a first support member, a second roller supported by a second support member and a support including a surface. First roller and the second roller are in contact with one another and in contact with the surface. With rotation of the first roller about a third axis and with at least one of the first roller or second roller moved relative to the other such that the first roller maintains contact with the second roller and the first roller and the second roller maintain contact with the surface, such that the first roller, second roller and the surface form an aperture having a first curved side having a first radius adjacent to a second curved side having a second radius wherein the first radius and second radius are unequal.

A method for forming a multilayer plastic sheet material (1) for floor and/or wall panels, wherein a first polymer mass comprising a rigid PVC is melted under pressure and is passed through an extruder head at a specified discharge rate in the form of a plastic strand in sheet form that is provided with one or more layers so that a multilayer plastic strand is formed, which is passed to two or more rolls of a finishing stand, which processes the multilayer plastic strand into a sheet of defined thickness, which is then led away via a transport device to a sawing device to be cut to the desired length, wherein, after the plastic strand in sheet form leaves the extruder head, it is first passed between a top roll and a bottom roll of a roughing stand, wherein the speed of the rolls of the finishing stand and the rolls of the roughing stand is synchronized with the discharge rate of the plastic strand in sheet form from the extruder head, so that said plastic strand is processed without stress.

Method of compressing man-made vitreous fibre web

According to the invention, there is provided a method of compressing an uncured man-made vitreous fibre web, the web having two opposed major faces. The method comprising the steps: passing the web along a path; and subjecting the web to thickness compression by applying compression to the two major opposed faces of the web. Compression of each of said major faces of the web is applied by passing the path between converging continuous or discontinuous compression surfaces. Further, the respective major face of the web that is being compressed is in contact with one of the converging compression surfaces, and said converging compression surface is inclined towards the path. Additionally, each inclined converging compression surface applies an amount of compression to the major face of the web with which the respective inclined converging surface is in contact, wherein the amount of compression applied to at least one of the two opposing major faces of the web is adjustable.
