Injection foam molding method

In an injection foam molding method, a relationship between a flow front moving speed (cm/s) of a foamed resin material in an injection step of injecting the foamed resin material into a cavity and amount of gas generated per 1 g of a resin material (ml/g) is defined as follows: the amount of gas generated per 1 g of the resin material is 0.36 ml/g or more; and the flow front moving speed (cm/s) is 75×the amount of gas generated per 1 g of the resin material (ml/g)−35 or more and 12 cm/s or more.

Expandable foaming molds and applications thereof

Described herein are expandable foaming molds. The foaming molds described herein permit mold boundaries to expand along with the expanding polymer and thereby conform to the foaming dynamics of the polymer material. By modifying the temperature and pressure applied to the mold devices described herein, the properties of the resulting foamed polymer can be fine-tuned for specific applications.

VEHICLE SEAT PANEL WITH DISCONTINUOUS FOAM LAYER
20220227273 · 2022-07-21 ·

A method of making a vehicle seat includes molding a discontinuous layer of foam on a non-decorative side of a decorative layer of material to form a seat panel that subsequently forms part of an exterior surface of the seat. A portion of the decorative layer is positioned in a foam molding cavity, and another portion of the decorative layer is excluded from the molding cavity. The excluded portion can be temporarily folded into a loop and reside in a secondary cavity of the molding tool during molding. The discontinuous layer of foam can be wider than the molding tool with foam portions selectively positioned along the decorative layer.

MOLDING MACHINE

A molding machine includes: a tie bar connected continuously to any one of a stationary platen and a movable platen, and including an engagement groove; a first engagement member configured to engage with or move away from the engagement groove of the tie bar; a second engagement member configured to engage with or move away from the engagement groove of the tie bar, and configured to be displaceable in an axial direction of the tie bar; a force transmission member located opposite the first engagement member across the second engagement member, and including a pressure surface to press the second engagement member and a through hole in which the tie bar is inserted; and a drive mechanism configured to use the force transmission member to cause the second engagement member to be displaceable in the axial direction of the tie bar with respect to the first engagement member.

Process for producing longer fibers in injection molded solid parts by dissolving of gas during plasticizing

The disclosure is directed to a solid part, and a device and process of making the solid part. The process includes introducing a glass fiber filled polymeric material to a hopper of an injection molding machine, where the glass fibers have a pre-molding length, melting the glass fiber filled polymeric material to form a melt in a plasticizing unit, pressurizing the plasticizing unit of the injection molding machine with a blowing agent, dissolving the blowing agent into the melt, injecting the melt into a mold cavity up to 100% of volume, and forming the solid part.

Closed cell foam article and manufacturing method

Closed cell foam articles, such as sports balls, and related manufacturing methods are disclosed herein. The article includes a main body made of closed-cell elastomeric resin foam having a density ranging between about 0.050 sg and about 0.800 sg after curing. Some articles are assembled by inserting a cured core into a main body so that the core is secured in the main body via an interference fit, and the core has one or more portions extending to the exterior surface of the main body such that the an exposed surface of the one or more exposed portions of the core blend substantially with the exterior surface of the main body.
