EXTRUSION METHOD AND APPARATUS
Improvements in the extrusion of thermohardenable materials are achieved by cooling the material in the initial zone of the extruder and reducing residence time by use of a prescribed length to diameter ratio and screw speed, particularly useful for intermittent application during robotically controlled mass production.
FIBER REINFORCEMENT FOR ANISOTROPIC FOAMS
The invention relates to a molding composed of extruded foam, wherein at least one fiber (F) is present with a fiber region (FB2) within the molding and is surrounded by the extruded foam, while a fiber region (FB1) of the fiber (F) projects from a first side of the molding and a fiber region (FB3) of the fiber (F) projects from a second side of the molding, and the extruded foam is produced by an extrusion process comprising the following steps: I) providing a polymer melt in an extruder, II) introducing at least one blowing agent into the polymer melt provided in step I) to obtain a foamable polymer melt, III) extruding the foamable polymer melt obtained in step II) from the extruder through at least one die aperture into an area at lower pressure, with expansion of the foamable polymer melt to obtain an expanded foam, and IV) calibrating the expanded foam from step III) by conducting the expanded foam through a shaping tool to obtain the extruded foam.
FIBER-REINFORCEMENT OF FOAM MATERIALS, CONSISTING OF INTERCONNECTED SEGMENTS
The present invention relates to a molding made from foam, wherein at least one fiber (F) is partly within the molding, i.e. is surrounded by the foam. The two ends of the respective fibers (F) that are not surrounded by the foam thus each project from one side of the corresponding molding. The foam comprises at least two mutually bonded foam segments.

Process for Producing a Foam Film Laminate and Use Thereof
The invention relates to a process for producing a foam film laminate having at least one compact outer layer and at least one layer composed of extruded foamed polymer bound to the outer layer, wherein the production of the layer of foamed polymer is effected in such a way that a polymer material is admixed with a chemical blowing agent which is solid at room temperature and, during or after the extrusion, is heated up to or above the activation temperature of the blowing agent, in order to obtain the layer of foamed polymer, wherein the processes is characterized in that the polymer material contains 5% to 60% by weight of at least one HMS polyolefin having a in accordance with ISO 20965 (as at 15 Feb. 2005, measurement apparatus type A) of 10.sup.4 to 10.sup.7 Pa s measured at 190° C. within a range of Hencky strain rate of 0.01 s.sup.−1 to 1 s.sup.−1 at a Hencky strain of 3.0. The invention further relates to a polymer composition for the foam layer for performance of the process and to a multilayer polymer film produced by the process and to the use thereof.
POLYMER FOAM PROCESSING METHODS AND ARTICLES
Blow molding methods and related blow molded articles are described herein.
MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND COMPOSITION FOR FOAMED PVC-P ROCK SHIELDS
A plasticized PVC formulation for foam extrusion including polyvinyl chloride, at least one plasticizer, at least one nucleating agent and a chemical blowing agent, wherein the plasticized PVC formulation is a dry blend containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of one or more nucleating agents and 0.1 to 3% by weight of the chemical blowing agent, wherein the blowing agent is sodium bicarbonate and the nucleating agent is talcum, and a foam extrusion method using said formulation. The extruded plasticized PVC foam is particularly suitable for rock shield pads used for pipeline protection. The foams are lightweight and require less consumption of materials with comparable properties to corresponding solid articles.
SMOOTH MILLED POLYMERIC FOAM ARTICLE
Prepare an extruded polystyrene foam that is characterized by being a singular polymer foam that is free of halogenated blowing agents, having a milled primary surface, having a width of 750 millimeters or more, and further characterized by having a ρ(CST/CSP) value that is 50 kilograms per cubic meter or less and a milled primary surface.
