CONTROLLER ARRANGEMENT FOR INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM
An injection molding apparatus (10) comprising a signal converter (1500) interconnected to a machine controller (MC) of an injection molding machine (IMM) that generates standardized signals (VPS), the signal converter (1500) receiving and converting the standardized signals (VS) to a command signal (MOPCS, PDCVS) that is compatible with a signal receptor or interface of an electrically powered actuator (940e, 941e, 942e) or a signal receptor, interface or driver of a proportional directional control valve (V, V1, V2) that drives a fluid driven actuator (940p, 941p, 942p) to respectively operate the electrically powered actuator (940e, 941e, 942e) or the proportional directional control valve (V, V1, V2) to move in a direction that operates to either begin an injection cycle and to end an injection cycle.
Techniques to mold parts with injection-formed aperture in gate area
Methods and systems for co-extruding multiple polymeric material flow streams into a mold cavity to produce a molded plastic article having an injection-formed aperture in gate region of the article are disclosed herein. A method includes providing a valve pin having a distal portion with a first diameter and a mid-portion with a second diameter smaller than the first diameter and providing a mold defining a cavity corresponding to a shape of a resulting molded plastic article. The mold has a recess aligned with a gate region of the mold, extending into the mold and configured to receive the distal portion of the valve pin when the distal portion of the valve pin extends beyond the gate region. The method includes advancing the distal portion of the valve pin into the recess until the mid-portion of the valve pin at least partially extends into the gate region, thereby establishing a flow path for a combined polymeric stream into the cavity at the gate region for forming a molded plastic article having at least one layer of a first polymeric material and at least one layer of a second polymeric material. The method also includes withdrawing the mid-portion of the valve pin from the gate region, thereby forming an injection-molded aperture in the resulting molded plastic article at the gate region.
Co-injection nozzle comprising integrated back-flow barrier
A co-injection nozzle for an injection moulding device for producing multi-layered injection-moulded products. The nozzle includes: a central bore; a valve needle for opening and closing a nozzle opening; an annular inner melt channel for the first melt; an annular central melt channel for a second melt; and an annular outer melt channel for the first melt. The inner, central and outer melt channels are fluidically combined in the region of the nozzle tip to form a concentrically-layered melt stream. The co-injection nozzle has a back-flow barrier, integrated into the central bore, for the second melt, this barrier formed by a cut-out in the valve needle and by a melt channel for the second melt, the channel penetrating the central bore. In the open position of the back-flow barrier, the cut-out is located such that the second melt can flow through the melt channel, whilst flowing in the central bore past the valve needle.
INJECTION MOLDING DEVICE
An injection molding device and related method includes a mold plate with at least one pocket having at least one discharge opening to discharge melted plastic from the pocket into at least one mold cavity interconnected to the pocket and a nozzle including a housing, which during operation is interconnected to the pocket. Per discharge opening a needle is arranged displaceable in an axial direction in the housing between a closed position and an open position. In the closed position the needle closes the thereto related discharge opening and is thereby preventing melted plastic from flowing from the pocket into the at least one mold cavity. In the open position, the needle releases the discharge opening such that melted plastic flows from the pocket into the at least one mold cavity. Furthermore, a melt channel is discharging into the pocket to supply melted plastic into the pocket.
Method and apparatus for producing hollow articles made of injection moulded plastic material
A method and apparatus for producing hollow articles made of injection moulded plastic material by a mould having a die within which there is inserted a core, and at least one injector including a pin valve displaceable between a closing position and an opening position for injecting the pressurized plastic material into a space comprised between the die and the core. During the injection, any flexural deflection of the core is detected and the pin valve of the or of each injector is displaced in a controlled fashion to adjust a pressure and a flow rate of the injected plastic material, so as to reduce or eliminate such deflection of the core.
SHUT-OFF NOZZLE, INJECTION DEVICE, AND INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE
A shut-off nozzle includes a nozzle body portion having an in-nozzle flow path formed therein, and a needle valve that is inserted into the nozzle body portion coaxially with the nozzle body portion and is configured to open and close an outlet of the in-nozzle flow path. A cylindrical portion is formed in the vicinity of a tip portion of the needle valve. A cylindrical hole portion is formed in the vicinity of a tip portion of the in-nozzle flow path, the cylindrical hole portion being a cylindrical hole. The cylindrical portion is configured to be fitted into the cylindrical hole portion in a case where the needle valve is driven in a forward direction.
Fluid channel flow disruption
An injection molding apparatus including an actuator interconnected to a rod or valve pin having a smooth continuous cylindrical outer surface and one or more discontinuous or relieved or relieved portions formed as discontinuities in the cylindrical outer surface and adapted to be disposed within a fluid flow channel, the one or more discontinuous or relieved portions being configured and arranged along the axial length of the pin or rod such that the flow of injection fluid over or past the one or more discontinuous or relieved portions is modified to flow at substantially different rates or velocities or in substantially different flow patterns relative to rate or velocity or pattern of flow of injection fluid over or past the smooth continuous cylindrical outer surface.
