Edge-gated injection molding apparatus
An edge-gated injection molding apparatus is disclosed having an injection manifold assembly for distributing a melt stream of moldable material to a plurality of mold cavities aligned on opposing sides of the injection manifold assembly. The injection manifold assembly includes a plurality of melt outlets with each melt outlet being in fluid communication with a respective mold cavity, and a plurality of biasing components disposed along a centerline of the injection manifold assembly. A nozzle seal is disposed between each injection manifold assembly melt outlet and its corresponding mold cavity, with an upstream end of the nozzle seal being slidably disposed against its respective melt outlet. Each biasing component is disposed between a pair of melt outlets and corresponding nozzle seals for biasing the melt outlets and nozzle seals outward from the centerline of the injection manifold assembly toward their respective mold cavities and applying a preload thereto.
Actuator cooling apparatus and method
An injection molding apparatus comprising a heated manifold, an actuator comprised of an actuator housing containing a drive member interconnected to a valve pin having a drive axis, one or more heat convectors each heat convector comprised of a heat conductive leg disposed within a gap disposed between the manifold and a downstream end of the actuator housing and a heat conductive arm extending distally upstream and away from the gap such that heat is conducted from the leg to the arm upstream and away from the downstream end of the actuator housing.
ACTUATOR APPARATUS AND METHOD ENABLING MULTIPLE PISTON VELOCITIES
An injection molding apparatus comprising a manifold, an actuator having a piston that divides an enclosed actuator housing into upstream and downstream actuator drive chambers, the piston having an internal piston chamber and a piston bore that communicates flow of the drive fluid between one of the upstream or downstream actuator drive chambers and the internal piston chamber, a flow rate controller adapted to enable flow of drive fluid between one of the upstream or downstream actuator drive chambers and a source of drive fluid at a first low rate of flow over a selected first portion of the stroke length of the piston and at a second high rate of flow over a selected second portion of the stroke length of the piston.
DE-AERATION CAVITIES IN A MOULD MEMBER
The present invention relates to a food product forming apparatus with a food forming member, which comprises a multitude of product cavities and a seal plate which sealingly cooperates with the surface of the mould drum.
Reduced size runner for an injection mold system
A runner system for a multi-cavity injection molding system, the runner system having runners of reduced size.
INJECTION MOLDING SYSTEM AND METHOD
An injection molding method is provided. A molding device and a runner plate over the molding device are provided. The molding device includes a first mold, a second mold over the first mold, and a mold cavity defined by the first mold and the second mold. The runner plate includes first and second runners communicable with the mold cavity and extending within the runner plate. A divider is placed within the runner plate, and the divider has a passage connectable to the first runner or the second runner. A mixture is injected into the mold cavity through the passage and the first runner, and the first mixture fails to flow into the mold cavity through the passage and the second runner. A foamed article is formed from the mixture inside the mold cavity.
GEARWHEEL WITH AN INSERT PORTION MADE OF METAL AND AN OUTER PORTION MADE OF PLASTIC, STEERING MECHANISM WITH SUCH A GEARWHEEL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SUCH A GEARWHEEL
A gearwheel has an insert portion made of metal and an outer portion made of plastic, where the outer portion has a toothed rim and the outer portion is injection-molded onto the insert portion. The outer portion has a plurality of injection-molded sections formed on a side surface of the insert portion which surface is directed transversely or perpendicularly to the central longitudinal axis. To produce the gearwheel inexpensively and with sufficiently good physical properties as regards its load-bearing capacity and its useful life. The gearwheel is characterized in having injection-molded sections spaced apart from one another on the side surface of the insert portion and side surface areas of the insert portion are left free between directly adjacent injection-molded sections.
A MELT CONDITIONER
A melt conditioner is provided. The melt conditioner includes a melt conditioning body having a plurality of melt conditioning channels. The plurality of melt conditioning channels are located upstream of at least one manifold flow channel. Each melt conditioning channel is for conveying, in use a melt sub flow and is dimensioned to provide, in use, a conditioned melt sub flow having a thermal profile that accounts for a downstream geometry of the manifold flow channel.
Drop-in hot runner system
A drop-in hot runner system includes a first runner component having a first channel aperture extending into a first runner component sliding surface, and a second runner component having a second channel aperture extending into a second runner component sliding surface. A depressible protrusion is associated with the first runner component, and a receiver is associated with the second runner component. The depressible protrusion and the receiver are positioned such that when the first runner component and the second runner component are coupled together along the first and second runner component sliding surfaces the depressible protrusion is received in the receiver, and the first and second channel apertures are misaligned.
Injection molding apparatus
An injection molding apparatus for receiving molten material from an injection nozzle and delivering the molten material to a mold cavity is disclosed. The injection molding apparatus includes a molten material conduit device for receiving the molten material and directing the molten material to a molten material receiver defined by a manifold, the manifold directing the molten material the mold cavity housed within the mold assembly of the apparatus. The molten material conduit device includes a manifold-sealed interface effector for sealing against the manifold, and a back plate engager for engaging the back plate that secures the molten material conduit device to the manifold. The manifold, the molten material conduit device and the back plate are cooperatively configured such that a discharge end of the conduit device is sandwiched between the manifold and the back plate and such that the discharge opening is disposed in alignment with the molten material-receiver.
