In the injection compression molding mold, cooling water passages are provided between a fixed-side surface formation portion and a heater, cooling water passages are provided between a movable-side surface formation portion and a heater, and a cavity is formed by the fixed-side surface formation portion, the movable-side surface formation portion, and a looped member. When the fixed-side surface formation portion and the movable-side surface formation portion are heated to predetermined temperature, resin is injected and filled into the cavity. Next, inside of the cavity is pressurized, and then heating is stopped and cooling water is supplied to the cooling water passages to perform cooling. Then, before the resin is completely solidified, the resin in the cavity is compressed while being cooled and solidified.
METHOD FOR INJECTION MOLDING PLUS POWER LENS ELEMENTS
A method for injection molding of a plus power lens element comprises injecting a melt of thermoplastic material comprising at least one UV absorber at a temperature higher than a glass transition temperature (Tg) of the thermoplastic material in an initial molding cavity delimited by two facing mold inserts. During the injecting, the two facing mold inserts are moved toward one another to define a final molding cavity whose volume is less than that of the initial molding cavity. After cooling and opening of the mold cavity, the plus power lens element is recovered. One of the two facing mold inserts comprises a flat surface facing the initial molding cavity, thereby to form a flat surface on one side of the plus power lens element, and the other of the two facing mold inserts comprises a concave surface facing the initial molding cavity, thereby to form a convex surface on an opposite side of the plus power lens element.
METHOD FOR INJECTION MOLDING WELD LINE FREE MINUS POWER LENS ELEMENTS
A method for injection molding of a weld line free minus power lens element comprises injecting a melt of thermoplastic material at a temperature higher than a glass transition temperature (Tg) of the thermoplastic material in an initial molding cavity delimited by two facing mold inserts, wherein the melt of thermoplastic material comprises at least one UV absorber. During the injecting, the two facing mold inserts are moved toward one another to define a final molding cavity whose volume is less than that of the initial molding cavity. After cooling and disassembling of the two facing mold inserts, the weld line free minus power lens element is recovered. One of the two facing mold inserts comprises a flat surface facing the initial molding cavity, thereby to form a flat surface on one side of the weld line free minus power lens element. The other of the two facing mold inserts comprises a convex surface facing the initial molding cavity, thereby to form a concave surface on an opposite side of the weld line free minus power lens element.
Method of Making a Vehicle Interior Component Having an Integral Airbag Component
A method of making a vehicle interior component having an integral airbag component is provided. The method includes disposing a polymeric composite sheet having inner and outer surfaces onto a first surface of a mold at a molding station and compressing the sheet between the first surface and a second surface of the mold at the molding station. The method also includes injecting a molten polymer compatible with the polymeric material of the composite sheet into the mold cavity in accordance with a predetermined set of process parameters which are high enough to integrally form at least one airbag component via polymeric interfusion at the inner surface of the composite sheet but are low enough to reduce surface defects on the outer surface of the composite sheet.
MOLD INSERT AND METHOD OF MAKING A MOLD INSERT
A mold insert has at least one filament cavity and a stack of at least a first and second insert plates, wherein the first plate has a front face that closely abuts a front face of the second insert plate. A portion of the a filament cavity is provided in at least one of the front faces of the first and second insert plates such that the filament cavity is open at a top surface of the mold insert but does not extend to a bottom surface of the mold insert. A venting cavity is provided in the same front face of the insert plate in which the portion of the at least one filament cavity is provided. The venting cavity, which is in air-conducting connection with the blind-hole end of the filament cavity, has a depth between 1 m and 20 m. A method of manufacturing the mold insert includes providing first and second insert plates, forming a portion of a filament cavity into at least one of the front faces of the insert plates, forming a venting cavity into the front face with the filament cavity, and bringing the front faces of the plates into close abutment to form a filament cavity.

Method of making golf ball comprising aligning thermoformed depressions with dimpled mold cups and applying sufficient heat and suction to the thermoformed depressions without exposing any preselected subassembly to the heat and suction to soften the polymeric material of each thermoformed depression and draw air outward from a volume located between an inner surface of the dimpled mold cup and an outer surface of the thermoformed depression to form a thermoformed pre-form half-shell having an outer surface with the size, shape and contour of the inner surface of the dimpled mold cup(s) and an inner surface with the size, shape and contour of the outer surface of a preselected subassembly. Afterwards, a preselected subassembly is loaded between a pair of thermoformed pre-form half-shells and molded under sufficient short-term heat and suction to form the golf ball. The thickness of each thermoformed depression and thermoformed pre-form half-shell may be tapered.

An optical lens assembly is produced by an injection-compression molding process. The optical lens assembly includes a lens body and an injection-molded structure. The lens body includes a first lens surface and a second lens surface opposed to the first lens surface. The lens body is divided into an optically effective zone and an optically ineffective zone. The injection-molded structure has at least one gate land in response to the injection-compression molding process. At least a portion of the optically ineffective zone of the lens body is covered by the injection-molded structure, and the injection-molded structure is assembled with and positioned by an external structure. Each of the first lens surface and the second lens surface is one of a multi-aperture lens surface, a lenticular lens surface, an aspheric lens surface, a flat lens surface and a freeform lens surface.

A vehicle interior and exterior member comprises a fiber molded body and a synthetic resin member fixed to a surface of the fiber molded body. The fiber molded body has a fiber layer including thermoplastic synthetic resin as a base material layer. The base material layer has fiber layer surfaces on its both surfaces or, the base material layer has another fiber layer including the other type of thermoplastic synthetic resin on one of the fiber layer surface to form a fiber laminated body. The fiber molded body is formed by molding the fiber laminated body into a three-dimensional face shape. The synthetic resin member has a fixed portion which is fixed to the fiber molded body by solidifying it in a state that molten synthetic resin has seeped into the fiber layer of the fiber laminated body.
