Baking Pan Device
A baking pan device is disclosed for enhancing the flavor of meatloaf and other food items cooked in a rectangular baking pan. The baking pan device comprises a pan component that is configured in a standard sizes steel loaf pan with a plurality of ventilation holes evenly spaced along the sides and bottom of the pan component. The device also includes a removable and replaceable stainless steel heat resistant moisture retaining insert component with two handles on either side, that is positioned directly within the pan component. The insert component is also lined with evenly spaced ventilation holes to allow smoke to penetrate the meat whilst cooking on a grill or smoker. The insert component is for lifting the meat out of the pan component, leaving any fat or grease in the pan component, and not saturating the meat when cut and served.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR OPEN-LOOP IGNITION OF A SMOKE GENERATOR FUEL SOURCE
In an aspect, data characterizing an instruction for an activation of an igniter and an operating mode of a smoke generator that includes the igniter can be received. A first amount of energy required for an ignition of a fuel source by the igniter can be determined based on the operating mode characterized by the received data. The igniter can be caused to activate based on the received data. A second amount of energy, output by the igniter over a period of time during which the igniter is activated, can be determined. A determination of whether the second amount of energy exceeds the first amount of energy can be made. The igniter can be caused to deactivate in response to a determination that the second amount of energy exceeds the first amount of energy. Related systems, apparatus, techniques, and articles are also described.

Dual purpose single use wood grill brush and method
A dual purpose, single use wood grill brush for cleaning a grilling surface and thereafter providing a flavor enhancing smoke. The device is a thin sheet of wood selected for the flavor enhancing characteristics of the smoke therefrom when slowly burned, which sheet is desirably soaked in water to make the wood flexible so that it may be manually used to clean the grilling surface prior to grilling, and then deposited on the heat source where it smokes rather than flames because of the absorbed water content. Exposing the food being grilled to such smoke during the grilling process provide a unique flavor to the food. One embodiment of the device includes a flat edge on one end and a plurality of longitudinally extending fingers at the other end, both useful in the cleaning process. Other embodiments of the device specifically for grilling surfaces with spaced parallel rods include a thin sheet of wood with notches for selectively cleaning the entire surface of the rods. Methods are also disclosed.
