A method of thawing an object (21) in a frozen state placed in an interior of a container (10), in which an AC voltage which is 10V or higher and 5 kV or lower is applied to the object (21) in the frozen state to flow a current which is 1 μA or higher and 1000 mA or lower, through the object (21) in the frozen state, includes the steps of: partially thawing the object (21) in the frozen state in such a manner that a temperature in the interior of the container (10) is controlled to cause the object (21) in the frozen state to be partially thawed while applying the AC voltage to the object (21) in the frozen state; and stopping application of the AC voltage to the object (21) and preserving the object (21) while maintaining a state in which the object (21) partially thawed.

A refrigerator has a thawing device. The thawing device includes a cylinder, having a thawing chamber with a forward opening; a device door; and a radio frequency generation module, upper and lower electrode plates electrically connected thereto generating radio frequency waves in the thawing chamber; and at least one temperature sensor is disposed on the inner wall of the thawing chamber and configured to sense the temperature of an object to be processed, thereby adjusting the power of the radio frequency generaton module to prevent the object to be processed from being excessively thawed.

The system includes a tank for holding fluid and a wash pump for creating a rolling washing action within the wash tank. The method includes placing items into the fluid so that as the fluid rolls within the wash tank, the items become deglazed or defrosted. The system further includes a discharge manifold with a plurality of discharge jets, a flow balancer for equalizing flow to multiple sections of the tank, and a diffuser plate for equalizing flow within a section of the tank. The various components of the system can be removed for cleaning, inspection, and/or replacement. The discharge manifold is accessible for removal and is configured to be easily cleaned.

A controller can be operably connected to the motor, the controller including a thickness input, the controller programmed to determine an operational time period in response to the thickness input. The controller instructs the motor to rotate the propeller for the operational time period to help thaw the frozen item. A display can be operably connected to the controller. A method of thawing a frozen item is also disclosed.

APPARATUS AND PROCESS FOR THAWING MEAT

An apparatus for thawing meat with effective air circulation has temperature control of the circulated air through sensing of the temperature by a plurality of thermal sensors as described herein chamber to thaw at least 10 metric tons of meat from a frozen internal temperature of no more than −18° C. to a thawed internal temperature of from −2° C. to 4.4° C. while maintaining the surface temperature of meat at a temperature of less than 4.4° C. throughout the thawing process. The apparatus is configured so that no new air and no added moisture is introduced to the thawing chamber during the thawing cycle. Methods for thawing meat using the apparatus are also described.
