The apparatus (100) comprises an assembly station (106) having a wall (122). The apparatus (100) comprises means for advancing the inner portion (21) along a first path (111) extending past the wall, and means for advancing the strip (50) along a second path (112) and causing the strip to encircle the wall and thereby wrap about and surround the inner portion (21). The two marginal side portions (53) are disposed in overlapping relation on the side of the wall opposed to the first path (111). The apparatus (100) further comprises a system (131) for affixing the two longitudinal marginal side portions (53) together in overlapping relation to assemble the strip (50) into a tubular configuration about the inner portion (21), whereby the strip in the tubular configuration provides the further portion (22).
TOOL FOR FIXING A TEXTILE SLEEVE ABOUT AN ELONGATE MEMBER TO BE PROTECTED AND METHOD OF USE THEREOF
A tool for fixing a protective textile sleeve about an elongate member contained therein and method of use thereof is provided. The tool includes a clamp assembly having opposed clamp members attached to one another for pivotal movement relative to one another between an open state and a closed state. The clamp members have clamping surfaces, wherein at least one of the clamping surfaces has at least one outlet. A fluid source is arranged in fluid communication with the at least one outlet, and a heat source is configured to heat fluid from the fluid source to create steam. The steam is dispensed outwardly from the at least one outlet to cause an adhesive on the sleeve to become activated to bond with an adjacent abutting surface.
Method for producing a liner hose for lining pipes and apparatus for carrying out the method
A method for producing a liner hose (2) for lining pipelines, comprising the method steps of moving a circumferentially closed inner film hose (4) over a winding mandrel (6) of a winding apparatus (8) and wrapping the inner film hose (4), which is guided on the winding mandrel (6) by means of a guide mechanism (18), with a fibrous strip (12) which has been impregnated with curable reaction resin, is characterized in that the inner film hose (4) is guided via endless pulling means (14) that circulate without a drive, and in that the inner film hose (4) that has been wrapped with the fibrous strip (12) is moved off of the winding mandrel (6) solely by a pull-off mechanism (16) which acts from the outside on the fibrous strip (12). The invention further relates to a device for carrying out the method.
Method and device for the extrusion and labeling of a packaging tube
The invention relates to a method for the extrusion and labelling of a packaging tube (14), comprising the following successive steps performed on an extrusion-labelling line, namely: a) forming a partially or fully tubular label (17) from a film (12); b) introducing the label (17) into a calibration element (22); c) extruding a tubular body (13) on the side of the concave surface of the label (17); d) bringing the external surface of the tubular body (13) into contact with the concave surface of the label (17), step (c) being performed in the calibration element (22). The invention also relates to an extrusion-labelling device and a packaging tube.
Method of manufacturing reinforced pipe
A method of manufacturing a reinforced pipe (7) comprising: wrapping a pipe (1) in reinforcing tape (2) to form a wrapped pipe having an outer circumference consisting of a first circumferential portion (4) and a second circumferential portion (6); and passing the first circumferential portion (4) over one or more heating elements (3) to fuse the reinforcing tape (2) of said first circumferential portion (4); wherein: the first circumferential portion (4) is between 1% and 50% of the outer circumference; and the second circumferential portion (6) is not passed over a heating element (3) and is not fused. The method is advantageous in that it can provide reinforced pipes (7) in a simpler and cheaper way because it is not essential that the entirety of the outer circumference of the reinforced pipe (7) is fused. A reinforced pipe (7) produced according to the method of the present invention is also provided.
Winding mandrel in a winding apparatus for producing a liner hose for lining channels and pipes
A winding mandrel (1) in a winding apparatus for producing a liner hose (2) for the lining of channels and pipelines, which comprises an inner film hose (4) and a layer arranged thereon made of at least one fibrous strip (6) wound in an overlapping manner, which is impregnated with a liquid reaction resin, with a base body (8), on which at least two guide mechanisms (10, 12) are accommodated, each comprising a continually circulating belt (14, 16), by means of which the inner film hose (4) is moved in a feed direction (A), is characterized in that the first guide mechanism (10) is coupled by fixed mounting to the base body (8), and in that the circulating belt (16) of the second guide mechanism (12) can be moved in a plane extending perpendicularly to the feed direction (A) and is forced away from the upper side of the base body (8) by means of pressing means (18; 118) with a preferably substantially constant force.
ELECTROMAGNETIC COIL
An electromagnetic coil with improved insulation properties at high temperatures. A bobbin is insulated by a thin ceramic composite layer that is produced by winding a glass or ceramic fiber over the support structure and impregnating it with a pre-ceramic polymer. The pre-ceramic polymer is then modified to form a ceramic SiO.sub.2 matrix around the fibrous layer. The ceramic matrix secures the glass or ceramic fibers in place and produces a dense layer. A ceramic coated magnet wire is then wound around the insulated support structure. The magnet wire is a conductor that is spiral-wrapped with a glass fiber impregnated with a pre-ceramic polymer.
MANUFACTURE OF PIPELINES
A method of attaching a plurality of cables such as trace heating cables to an elongate pipeline comprises bringing together the pipeline and an elongate mat along a common longitudinal direction, wrapping the mat around at least a majority of the circumference of the pipeline, and fixing the wrapped mat to the pipeline. The mat comprises at least two longitudinally-extending cables that are supported by a pliant substrate so that when the mat is wrapped around the pipeline, the cables are positioned at respective angular positions about a longitudinal axis of the pipeline. The mat may be guided from a planar configuration on exiting a reel into a configuration that is curved about the longitudinal axis. Centraliser spacers and thermal insulation may be added around the pipeline and the wrapped mat before the assembly is inserted into an outer pipe.
