Equipment for attaching an optical fiber to a reel
An equipment is disclosed for attaching an optical fiber to a reel, the equipment including a tape supply station configured to cut and supply pieces of tape, an attachment device having a frame with a collector for collecting a piece of tape from the tape supply station for attaching the optical fiber to the reel, an actuator for moving the attachment device and for pressing the collector, having the piece of tape, against the optical fiber and the reel in order to attach the optical fiber to the reel, and a cutter for cutting the optical fiber. Such an equipment can be advantageous as manual labour can be excluded from the process of attaching an optical fiber to a reel.
PIPE WITH AN OUTER WRAP
This disclosure relates generally to corrugated pipe, and more particularly to corrugated pipe with an outer wrap. In one embodiment, a pipe includes an axially extended bore defined by a corrugated outer wall having axially adjacent, outwardly-extending corrugation crests, separated by corrugation valleys. The pipe also includes an outer wrap applied to the outer wall. The outer wrap may include fibers and plastic. The outer wrap may span the corrugation crests producing a smooth outer surface.
Systems and methods for liner braiding and resin application
A method of making a tank for storing fluid that includes generating a resinated braid layer on an elongated liner having a plurality of successively alternating rigid and flexible portions along the length of the liner. Generating the resinated braid layer on the liner includes feeding the liner into a braiding machine and applying resin to a plurality of fibers during a braiding process to generate a resinated plurality of fibers and generating, over a length of the liner, by the braiding machine, the resinated braid layer defined by the resinated plurality of fibers.
LAMINATE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME
Disclosed are a method for producing a laminate including a step of laminating a resin impregnated fiber reinforced composition layer on a metal member, wherein the method includes a step of forming a resin coating on the metal member and a step of laminating a resin impregnated fiber reinforced composition layer containing a resin impregnated fiber reinforced composition containing (I) 20 to 80% by mass of a polymer having a melting point and/or a glass transition temperature of 50 to 300° C., and (C) 20 to 80% by mass of a reinforcing fiber
(provided that the sum of the component (I) and the component (C) is taken as 100% by mass) via the above resin coating; and a laminate obtained by the method.
Anti-corrosive wrapping for metal pipes and metal pipe fittings
The present disclosure provides an anti-corrosive wrapping for a metal pipe (10) (or a metal pipe fitting). The wrapping has an innerwrap (14) including glass fibres which carries a viscoelastic thermoplastic corrosion protection material (13). The wrapping has an outerwrap (16) including glass fibres which is impregnated with an adhesive. The innerwrap (14) is wrappable around the metal pipe (10) with the viscoelastic thermoplastic corrosion protection material (13) carried by the innerwrap (14) engaging and covering an external surface of the metal pipe (10). The outerwrap (16) is wrapped around the innerwrap (13) and the adhesive impregnated in the outerwrap (16) penetrates the innerwrap (13) and thereby adheres the outerwrap (16) to the innerwrap (13).

Tape application device for helical application of a tape on a tube
A tape application device (1) comprises a tube holder (9), a roll retainer (11), guide means (35) for guiding a tape (3) from the inside (7a) of a roll (7) to the outside of a tube (5) and displacement means for rotating around an imaginary axis and translating in the direction of the imaginary axis the tube holder, roll retainer and guide means relative to each other, such that the tape is pulled out of the roll on the inside and is helically wound on the outside of the tube. The roll retainer (11) has support means (26) which support the roll only on the outside, which support means are formed by suction cups (27). The guide means (35) are formed by a resilient helical tape guide (37) which, during operation, resiliently pushes with one end (37a) against the inside (7a) of the roll (7) and with the other end (7b) is present close to the tube (5).
PRESSURE VESSEL AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A pressure vessel includes a vessel body including a cylindrical-shaped straight body portion with a spiral-shaped projection portion formed at an outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion, and a covering portion that comprises a fiber bundle wrapped onto the outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion in a spiral pattern running parallel to the projection portion so as to cover the outer peripheral surface of the straight body portion.
Machine and method for paint-roller manufacturing with integrated final cutting online
A paint roller manufacturing system and method are described. In an embodiment, an inner strip of material and an outer strip of material are wound about a mandrel in offset relation. The inner strip of material and the outer strip of material each comprise material that results in a final paint roller which shrinks by less than 2.5 percent of the final paint roller axial length, or which has shrinkage that varies by less +/0.1%, upon hardening and setting. An adhesive is applied to at least a portion of the outer strip as it is wound about the mandrel. A length of fabric is wound about at least the outer strip to form a paint roller tube, and compression is applied to the paint roller tube while advancing the paint roller tube in a direction parallel to the mandrel. A precision measuring or sensing device is used to control a cutting device causing the cutting device to cut the advancing paint roller tube into pre-selected lengths prior to the paint roller tube hardening and setting.
