BIPOLAR BATTERY PLATE ASSEMBLY AND RELATED MECHANICAL COUPLING TECHNIQUE
A battery assembly, such as a bipolar battery assembly, generally includes a first casing portion comprising an optically-absorbing region defining a first feature, and a second casing portion comprising an optically-transmissive region, the second casing portion defining a second feature, the second feature sized and shaped to mate with the first feature. The first and second features form a hermetic seal comprising a welded joint. Fabrication of such an assembly can include physically mating the first casing portion with the second casing portion, and irradiating, such as using a laser, the optically-absorbing region defining the first feature through the optically-transmissive region to form the welded joint. The first or second casing portions can include one or more casing segments that can support a battery plate, such as comprising a conductive substrate. A gasket or seal can be used such as to provide a further seal at or near a perimeter of the conductive substrate.
Bonding device and method for producing plate-shaped bonded assembly
A method for producing a bonded plate-shaped assembly includes retaining a pair of plate-shaped members facing each other by a pair of retaining base members; charging a photo-curable liquid material between the pair of plate-shaped members facing each other; causing movement of the pair of retaining base members by a retaining base member movement unit to cause the pair of plate-shaped members to draw close to each other to cause wetting spreading of the liquid material between the pair of plate-shaped members; detecting a wetting spreading state of the liquid material by a sensor; and illuminating curing light, in response to the result of detection, to the liquid material wettingly spread to the entire surfaces of the pair of plate-shaped members, to form the bonded plate-shaped assembly made up of the pair of plate-shaped members bonded together.
Collar for sealing a battery module
The present disclosure relates to a battery module that includes a housing having a first absorptive material configured to absorb a laser emission, a cover having a second absorptive material configured to absorb the laser emission, and a collar configured coupled to the housing and coupled to the cover via a laser weld. The collar includes a transparent material configured to transmit the laser emission through the collar and toward the housing or the cover.
FASTENING INSERT FOR A COMPONENT MADE OF PLASTIC, FOAM OR COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A fastening insert made of plastic with a T-shaped configuration consisting of an insert disc and a hollow cylindrical shaft fastened to the insert disc. The insert disc has a plurality of passage openings arranged off-center, at least one of which has an edge projection extending circumferentially continuously or circumferentially in sections, which is formed as toothing and extends on one side or both sides beyond the respective fastening side of the insert disc. This toothing ensures an additional form-fit connection or fixation of the fastening insert in a preferably fiber-reinforced composite material.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING A MICROFLUIDIC ROTOR DEVICE
Described herein are various embodiments directed to rotor devices, methods, and systems. Embodiments of rotors disclosed herein may be used to characterize one or more analytes of a fluid. A method may include bonding a first layer and a second layer using two-shot injection molding. The first layer coupled to the second layer may collectively define a set of wells. The first layer may be substantially transparent. The second layer may define a channel. The second layer may be substantially absorbent to infrared radiation. A third layer may be bonded to the second layer using infrared radiation. The third layer may define an opening configured to receive a fluid. The third layer may be substantially transparent. The channel may establish a fluid communication path between the opening and the set of wells.
IR tube sealer and methods sealing a tube
Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to an IR tube sealing device and method of sealing a polymer tube with infrared energy. In particular embodiments, the IR tube sealing device can be a portable, hand-held device adapted to receive and compress a polymer tube, and produce and direct infrared energy toward the compressed polymer tube to quickly form a permanent aseptic seal.
METHOD OF JOINING ADDITIVELY MANUFACTURED COMPONENTS
A method for producing a component from two or more sub-components includes the steps of: producing each of the sub-components using an additive manufacturing process in which a resin, which is radiant-energy-curable, is partially cured using a selective application of radiant energy, wherein each sub-component includes a joint surface in which the resin is partially cured which is cured to a lesser degree than the remainder of the respective sub-component, so as to leave the joint surfaces in a condition suitable for bonding; assembling the sub-components with their respective joint surfaces in mutual contact; and performing a secondary cure of the partially-cured resin at the joint surfaces using an application of radiant energy, so as to further cure the partially-cured resin and bond the sub-components to each other, thereby forming the component.
Process for plastic welding with low deformation
The present invention relates to plastic welding process comprising using a dynamic heatsink that minimize the temperature rise of the predetermined surface whereby the surface quality of plastic welding is maintained.
