An assembly for use during manufacture of a balloon envelope that includes a table having first and second levels, an indicator disposed on the first level and a sealing component. The first level is arranged to receive a first sheet portion of material. The indicator is arranged along a lengthwise axis of the table to indicate a position for attaching a tendon to the first sheet portion. The second level is arranged to receive assembled gore portions of the envelope comprising the first sheet portion, the tendon and a second sheet portion of material. The sealing component is configured to move along the table and to apply a heat seal to bond together the first and second sheet portions disposed thereon in order to form at least part of a gore portion of the envelope, such that the tendon is arranged proximate to a centerline of the gore.

A method of illumating an item is disclosed. The method includes applying adhesive to the item, interspersing a taggant in the adhesive, illuminating the item with an excitation signal, sensing luminescence emitted by the taggant in response to illumination by the excitation signal, and determining the authenticity of the item based on the sensed emitted luminescence. The item can include any item benefited by authentication, and can include a postage stamp. A method of customizing an item is disclosed. This can include the steps of preparing a substrate, applying a security feature to the substrate, printing non-customized information on the substrate, receiving image information, and printing the image information on the substrate.

Attachment method and system to install components, such as vortex generators, to a wind turbine blade

A method for installing an add-on component to a surface of a wind turbine blade includes attaching an adhesive side of strips of a double-sided adhesive tape onto either the surface of the wind turbine blade or a surface of the add-on component, the tape strips having a release liner on an opposite exposed side thereof. The tape strips having an extension tail of the release liner that extends beyond an edge of the add-on component when the add-on component is placed and held at a desired position against the surface of the wind turbine blade. With the add-on component held at the desired position, the extension tail is pulled away at an angle such that that release liner is removed along the length of the tape strip while maintaining the add-on component against the blade surface to attach the exposed adhesive under the release liner to either the surface of the wind turbine blade or the surface of the add-on component.

Method of applying adhesive coated film

An adhesive-applying method is disclosed herein. The method comprises: providing a film comprising pressure sensitive adhesive coated on a major surface thereof; heating the film to a softening point of the film; and pressing the film against a substrate with an application device, the application device comprising a film-contacting portion, the film-contacting portion comprising a foam material and having a thermal conductivity of less than 1.8 BTU in/(hr ft.sup.2 F.); wherein the pressure sensitive adhesive on the major surface of the film adheres to the substrate. Application devices and kits that may be used in conjunction with the method are also disclosed herein.
