LIGHTWEIGHT COMPOSITE MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR MAKING THE SAME
A lightweight composite material includes a substrate and a carbon fiber layer. The substrate has a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other, and is prepared by impregnating glass fibers with a resinous matrix which is formed by mixing hollow glass microspheres with a thermosettable resin material. The carbon fiber layer is bonded to one of the first and second surfaces of the substrate by thermosetting the thermosettable resin material.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING AUTOMOTIVE GLASS WITH MEMBER
Provided is a process for producing an automotive glass with a member in a highly efficient and space-saving manner. The process for producing an automotive glass with a member comprises bonding together an adhesion surface of an adherend and an adhesion surface of an automotive glass using an adhesive, and then curing the adhesive using a superheated steam generator, thereby attaching the adherend to the automotive glass; wherein the superheated steam generator comprises (1) a boiler part for generating steam, (2) a superheating unit for superheating the steam generated in the boiler part, and (3) a superheated steam vessel equipped internally with one or more heaters and one or more superheated steam outlets for discharging the superheated steam supplied from the superheating unit; and wherein the step of curing the adhesive is performed by covering the adherend placed on the automotive glass with the superheated steam vessel, spraying the superheated steam from the one or more superheated steam outlets to the adherend, and then spraying dry gas.
Method for assembling a box structure and structure obtained by such a method
A method for assembling a skin and a flange of a stiffener. The periphery of the contact between the skin and the flange of the stiffener is sealed by applying a bead of adhesive on the flange of the stiffener in contact with the skin. A first and second orifices are made in the skin. The orifices open at the interface between the skin and the flange of the stiffener. The adhesive is injected through the first orifice at the interface between the skin and the flange of the stiffener while keeping the skin in contact with the stiffener until the interface between the skin and the stiffener is completely filled with the adhesive.
SEALANT ARTICLES AND METHOD OF APPLYING SEALANT
A method of making an assembly is disclosed. According to the method, a curable sealant is applied to a metal surface of a first article, and the curable sealant and first article are stored under conditions to maintain the curable sealant in an at least partially uncured state. The method further includes contacting the curable sealant on the first article metal surface with an electrically conductive surface of a second article, and curing the curable sealant.
Fastening objects to each other
A method of fastening a second object to a fiber composite part including a structure of fibers embedded in a matrix material includes: providing the fiber composite part including an attachment surface, with a portion of the structure of fibers being exposed at the attachment surface; providing the second object; placing the second object relative to the fiber composite part, with a resin in a flowable state between the attachment surface and the connector; pressing the second object and the fiber composite part against each other and causing mechanical vibration to act on the second object or the fiber composite part or both, thereby causing the resin to infiltrate the exposed structure of fibers and activating the resin to cross-link; whereby the resin, after cross-linking, secures the second object to the fiber composite part.
AN ADHESIVE ASSEMBLY METHOD AND AN ADHESIVE ASSEMBLY OBTAINED BY THE METHOD
A method of adhesively bonding a first substrate on a second substrate in an adhesive bonding zone by an adhesive joint integrating a support mesh, wherein surplus adhesive joint is folded over onto one or the other of the first or second substrates so that the support mesh is present over the entire adhesively bonded zone after curing.
METAL/COMPOSITE ASSEMBLY METHOD AND DEVICE
An assembly includes a first part made of composite material including a polymer matrix and a second part made of metal. The two parts are assembled by opposite or assembly faces along an interface subjected to shear loads. The first part is made of a composite having continuous reinforcing fibers in a thermoplastic matrix. The second part includes, on its assembly face, a coupling form having a plurality of patterns. Each pattern has a closed contour in a plane parallel to the assembly face of the second part and extends along a direction normal to the assembly face of the second part. A method for making such an assembly is also provided.
Method of sealing a module and a hearing device
The present invention relates to a method of sealing a module (14) in a hearing device housing. The method comprises the steps of preparing the module (14) and the hearing device housing, and applying a sealing material (28) into a space, said space being formed between the module (14) and the hearing device housing.
Wind turbine blade comprising resistive heating means
A wind turbine blade 2 comprises a profiled contour including a leading edge 34 and a trailing edge 33 as well as a pressure side and a suction side. The profiled contour is formed by a first shell part 10 and a second shell part 15 being bonded together in a bonding region between the first and the second shell part by a curable bonding means 40. The first and the second shell part 10; 15 are formed in a fiber-reinforced polymer. The wind turbine blade further comprises resistive heating means 50 being arranged in thermal connection with the bonding means 40 such that the resistive heating means 50 supplies heat for curing of the curable bonding means 40 during assembling of the wind turbine blade.
Composite filler
A method and apparatus is presented. A layer of composite material is laid up on a forming tool. A bend is formed in the layer on the forming tool to form a bent layer. A laminate stack and the bent layer are assembled to form the composite filler.
