System and method for bonding structural components

System includes a first object having an energy-assisted bonding (EAB) mechanism along a surface of the first object. The EAB mechanism includes a heat-activatable adhesive layer and a carbon-filled (CF) sheet material. The CF sheet material is electrically conductive for resistive heating. A control sub-system is configured to control a coupling actuator to drive an actuator body toward the first object, wherein the actuator body and the first object engage each other. The coupling actuator is configured to apply pressure to the EAB mechanism along the surface of the first object. The control sub-system is also configured to control the power source to apply a current through the CF sheet material of the EAB mechanism to provide thermal energy through resistive heating that activates the adhesive layer along the interface.

COMPONENT MOUNTING ON STORAGE TANKS

A tank (e.g., an underground storage tank), and manufacturing methods therefore, may include a tank body having an exterior surface. A component is mounted on at least a non-planar portion of the exterior surface of the tank body using an adhesive (e.g., an MMA adhesive). For example, the component may be positioned on the non-planar portion of the exterior surface of the tank body after application of adhesive and pressure may be applied to maintain the position of the component on the non-planar portion of the exterior surface of the tank body as the adhesive is cured. The pressure may be removed upon curing of the adhesive and formation of a structural bond may occur at the adhesive interface between the mounting surface of the component and the non-planar portion of the exterior surface of the tank body.

Magnetic body detection device, program for causing computer to perform magnetic body detection function, and computer-readable recording medium for recording program

In a magnetic material detection device comprising: at least two magnetic sensors; and a control device detecting a magnetic material by using output values of the magnetic sensors, the magnetic sensors are arranged at an interval of a predetermined distance from each other such that a subject is located outside a space therebetween, and the control device detects the magnetic material by comparing time change amounts of output values of the magnetic sensors resulting from a change in relative position between the subject and each of the magnetic sensors, with utilizing that an absolute value of the time change amount becomes larger in one of the magnetic sensors close to the subject as compared to another of the magnetic sensors far from the subject.

INTERMEDIATE TRANSFER MEMBER

A heat-curable tape, a kit, and a method for connecting ends of an elongate belt to form an intermediate transfer members suitable for use with indirect printing systems. The kit includes an elongate belt and the heat-curable tape. The kit can include a crimping pin. The method includes using the heat curable tape to join ends of the elongate belt at a seam. A heater is used, in a printing system, for heat-curing the heat-curable tape onto the free ends of the elongate belt so as to form the intermediate transfer member.

STORAGE BAG

A method of making a storage bag comprising the following steps performed in any order: (a) forming a composite tube having an inner surface comprising a higher melting polymer, an outer surface comprising a lower melting polymer, two ends, and a diameter; (b) flattening the tube in a direction perpendicular to the diameter; (c) forming a joint at one of the ends at a temperature between respective melting points of the higher melting polymer and the lower melting polymer; (d) providing a composite sheet having a first side comprising a higher melting polymer and a second side comprising a lower melting polymer; and (e) disposing the composite sheet over the joint such that the first side comprising a lower melting polymer engages the joint and forming a lap seam over the joint at a temperature between respective melting points of the higher melting polymer and the lower melting polymer, and a storage bag made by such method.

Independent conductive tape dispensing system for manufacturing of electrical distribution circuits in vehicles

An apparatus for applying individual tapes in layers onto a substrate includes a plurality of reels, applicators, and a guide member. A first reel holds a first tape and a second reel holds a second tape. A first applicator includes a first pressure surface that receives the first tape from the first reel and presses the first tape in a direction toward the substrate to apply the first tape to the substrate. The second applicator includes a second pressure surface that receives the second tape from the second reel. The second pressure surface is aligned to dispense the second tape over a section of the first tape applied to the substrate and to press the second tape toward the substrate to apply the second tape over the first tape. The guide member is disposed between the reels and the applicators and aligns the first and second tapes during application.

BONDING AND DE-BONDING SYSTEM AND PROCESS

Adhesive devices for use with components of various systems, in particular electrical or thermally sensitive systems. The adhesive device includes a light-sensitive adhesive disposed adjacent to a light-transmissive material. The de-bonding process includes irradiating the light-transmissive material, thereby exposing any adjacent adhesive to the light as well. Because the adhesive material can include a bonding material that is configured to de-bond when exposed to the light, the disassembly of devices without risk to neighboring components is simplified.

Conductive bonded composites

The invention relates to methods of bonding and a conductively bonded joint, provided by high loadings of conductively coated nano scale particulate fillers in a conductive adhesive in combination with a conductive intermediary structure, more particularly to a lightning strike resilient bonded joint between fibre reinforced polymer composites. A method of joining a first fibre reinforced polymer composite surface and a second fibre reinforced polymer composite surface, comprising the steps of providing a conductive intermediary structure between said first and second surfaces, filling the void between said surfaces and enveloping said intermediary structure with a conductive adhesive, curing the conductive adhesive to form a bonded first and second surface. A conductive adhesive comprising a curable binder and a high aspect ratio nanoscale carbon particulate filler present in the range of from 0.1 to 40% wt, wherein said particulate filler comprises a metal coating.

MULTI-LAYER FILM
