Method for connecting two joining elements
The present invention relates to a method for connecting two joining elements, these elements being connected by means of a thermally activatable adhesive with a flat heating element arranged therein, by suitable heating of the adhesive. The invention also relates to an assembly produced in this way from two joining elements and to an arrangement designed for carrying out a corresponding method.
Method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object, as well as cover layer suitable for the method
A method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object in a continuous process. Joining is effected with the aid of a joining material having thermoplastic properties, wherein the joining material is arranged between the cover layer and the object and is liquefied using ultrasonic vibration energy. Before application of the ultrasonic vibration energy, the joining material is preheated in a contactless manner with the aid of electromagnetic induction in the region of the glass transition temperature of the joining material or above this glass transition temperature. The object is in particular a chip board and the cover layer an edge strip to be joined to an edge of the chip board.
METHOD OF BUTT SEAMING ARTIFICIAL TURF AND RECYCLABLE BUTT SEAMED ARTIFICIAL TURF
The invention comprises a method of butt seaming artificial turf. The method comprises providing a piece of artificial turf comprising a primary backing material having an upper surface and a lower surface, a plurality of tufts of filament material formed in the primary backing material, wherein the tufts are arranged to simulate blades of grass extending outwardly from the upper surface of the primary backing material and the tufts have tuft backs formed on the lower surface of the primary backing material and a layer of a thermoplastic polymer formed on the lower surface of the primary backing material and the tuft backs such that the layer of thermoplastic polymer attaches the tuft backs to the primary backing material. The method further comprises heating a portion of the layer of thermoplastic polymer adjacent an edge of the artificial turf until the portion of the layer of thermoplastic polymer softens and pressing the softened portion of the layer of thermoplastic polymer into contact with a seaming tape.
SEAM CONSTRUCTION USING RADIO FREQUENCY WELDING AND TAPE
A process of constructing an air tight and water tight seam, comprising cutting a sheet of selected material into two or more panels, sealing the panels at respective selected edges using an ultrasonic machine to form a seam, overlaying the seam with a tape made of the same selected material, and sealing the tape and seam using a radio frequency (RF) welding machine.
Tape for producing non-quilted articles and garment using the tape
A low-cost smooth-surfaced tape is used to produce a non-quilted article. An adhesive portion is provided on the outer surface on one side of the tape, and another adhesive portion is provided on the outer surface on the reverse side of the tape. Adhesive portion-free surfaces are arranged to face each other.
PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS MADE OF FILM, SOLID ADHESIVE POLYMER, AND A POLYURETHANE LAYER
Provided herein is a process for the preparation of multilayered composite materials, and also multilayered composite materials which can be obtained according to this process.
Bonding method using a carbon nanotube structure
A bonding method utilizing carbon nanotubes provides first and second objects to be bonded and a carbon nanotube structure. The carbon nanotube structure comprises a super-aligned carbon nanotube film comprising carbon nanotubes, the carbon nanotubes extending substantially along a same direction. The carbon nanotube structure is laid on surface of first object and surface of second object is pressed onto the carbon nanotube structure. Pressure being applied to the first object and the second object bonds the two together.
SURFACE TREATMENT TO ENHANCE BONDING OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS
A method for surface preparation of composite substrates prior to adhesive bonding. A curable surface treatment layer containing blocked isocyanate compounds is applied onto a curable composite substrate, followed by co-curing. The surface treatment layer may be a resin layer without fibers or a removal peel ply composed of resin-impregnated fabric. After surface preparation, the composite substrate is provided with a chemically-active, bondable surface that can be adhesively bonded to another composite substrate to form a covalently-bonded structure.
System and method for bonding structural components
System includes a first object having an energy-assisted bonding (EAB) mechanism along a surface of the first object. The EAB mechanism includes a heat-activatable adhesive layer and a carbon-filled (CF) sheet material. The CF sheet material is electrically conductive for resistive heating. A control sub-system is configured to control a coupling actuator to drive an actuator body toward the first object, wherein the actuator body and the first object engage each other. The coupling actuator is configured to apply pressure to the EAB mechanism along the surface of the first object. The control sub-system is also configured to control the power source to apply a current through the CF sheet material of the EAB mechanism to provide thermal energy through resistive heating that activates the adhesive layer along the interface.
