Method of bonding fibers to form a composite structure
A method for bonding fibers includes providing a first fiber layer and a second fiber layer positioned below the first fiber layer to bond the first fiber layer with the second fiber layer. The method may also include providing a first additive layer. The first additive layer is located between the first fiber layer and the second fiber layer. Then, the method may further include activating the first additive layer by directing energy at the first additive layer.
Method of seaming carpet
A method for joining two carpet segments, each carpet segment having an underside and at least one edge, comprises abutting one edge of one carpet segment with one edge of the other carpet segment, positioning a length of seam tape under the abutting edges, and activating the adhesive to secure the seam tape to the undersides of both carpet segments. The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a transverse direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
Ergonomic Adhesive Noodle Applicator
Apparatus and methods for manually applying flexible noodles (e.g., noodles made of adhesive material) to a workpiece (e.g., a composite part) during production or construction. The noodle is fed out over a series of upright rolls and rollers to the target area. Those rolls and rollers are rotatably coupled to a platform that is designed to be worn on the forearm of the operator. In accordance with one example, the noodle applicator comprising an ergonomic handle and an ergonomic forearm brace that are positioned and attached to the platform to allow the weight of the platform to be centered higher up the forearm, protecting the wrist. The direction of application is in-line with the forearm of the operator, decreasing the strain involved.
EDGE ATTACHED FILM-FOAM SHEET
The present disclosure generally relates to devices and methods for furniture protection. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to foam-film sheets configured to protect furniture from damage. An exemplary foam-film sheet as disclosed herein includes a sheet of foam material having a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge; a sheet of film material having a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge; a first seal between a portion of the foam material proximate its first lateral edge and a portion of the film material proximate its first lateral edge; and a second seal between a portion of the foam material proximate its second lateral edge and a portion of the film material proximate its second lateral edge, wherein the film and foam are substantially unsealed along the entire transverse width between the first and second sealed portions near the lateral edges of the foam material.
Adhesive thread system
A system for forming a waterproof seam between to sewn materials. The seam is formed using an adhesive coated thread. A thin strip of adhesive is placed between the two materials at the seam line. As the coated thread is sewn into the seam heat and pressure are simultaneously applied, melting the adhesive coating thereby filling the needle punctures. The melted adhesive coating will also flow into the areas between the needle punctures and between the materials. The heat and pressure applied to the coated thread will also melt the adhesive strip, causing additional adhesive to flow into the needle punctures and the areas between needle punctures.
ADHESIVE GUIDING DEVICE, ADHESIVE APPLICATION DEVICE, AND ADHESIVE APPLICATION METHOD
In an adhesive material guiding apparatus, a nozzle configured to be disposed at a position facing an adherend as an object to be stuck is provided, and a path is configured such that a threadlike adhesive passes through a through hole formed in the nozzle. A braking member such as a top is disposed at an upstream side of the through hole of the nozzle. The braking member is configured such that at least one of the ease of sticking to the threadlike adhesive and a difficulty in slipping are superior to those of the through hole of the nozzle.
The seam tape comprises an elongated base layer being resilient in a longitudinal direction, an intervening layer applied to the base layer, and an adhesive applied to the intervening layer.
Planar structure for joining at least two components
The invention relates to a planar structure for joining, in particular for the material-uniting joining, of at least two components. According to the invention, the planar structure is flexible and formed by at least one reaction strand. The reaction strand comprises a preferably cylindrical core, which is provided, at least in some areas, with a coating, which is constructed with a plurality of coaxially applied layers with a small thickness. To produce the layers, two different materials are used, the layers being constructed alternately with one of the two materials. Because of the high degree of flexibility of the reactive planar structure and its arbitrary area extent, components with a complex geometry in the region of the joint faces as well as large-format components can be joined in a material-uniting manner without problems. The reactive planar structure can be produced here using the methods known from textile engineering with virtually any dimensions and, in addition, by a continuous industrial production process. Moreover, the invention relates to a method for providing a material-uniting connection between two components, in particular by means of the planar structure according to the invention.
COMPOSITE LAYERS FOR BONDING COMPONENTS OF A WIND TURBINE ROTOR BLADE
The present disclosure is directed to a method for bonding composite blade components of a rotor blade of a wind turbine. The method includes providing a first blade component being constructed of a first composite material. The method also includes providing a second blade component being constructed of a second composite material. Further, the method includes arranging the first and second blade components together at an interface. Another step includes placing one or more layers of a wetted composite material between the first and second blade components at the interface. The method also includes allowing the one or more layers of the wetted composite material at the interface to cure.
