METHOD OF FORMING A PACKAGE GUSSET
The present invention is directed to a method of forming a bottom-gusseted package, wherein each package includes an inwardly-extending, pleat-like gusset at the bottom of the package. To permit heat-sealing formation of each package, the sleeve from which each gusset is formed comprises a lamination of two differing polymeric materials, a sealant layer and a non-sealant layer, so that only an exterior surface of each sleeve, at which the sealant layer is positioned, exhibits the desired heat-sealing characteristics. To facilitate package formation, the sleeves from which the bottom gussets are formed are maintained in a closed or sealed configuration during package formation by providing a heat-sealed bond at the edge of each sleeve. In one embodiment, portions of the non-sealant layer are vaporized to provide sealable surface regions of the sealant layer. In an alternative embodiment, a lamination of the sealant and non-sealant layers is formed such that the sealant layer extends laterally beyond the non-sealant layer, to thereby provide sealable surface regions of the sealant layer.

Vibration absorbing device for flexbeams
A replacement vibration absorbing device for replacing a wear wrap on a flexbeam includes a sleeve having a plurality of layers of vibration absorbing material, wherein an edge of the sleeve is cut so that the sleeve may be installed around a generally central portion of a flexbeam.
Composite label and method of making
A method for making labels comprising providing a plastic substrate layer and a paper substrate layer. The paper substrate layer comprises a printed display information sheet, wherein the printed display information sheet comprises a plurality of display information tags arranged in an array. The plastic substrate layer is coupled to each of the rows of display information tags within a first portion of the display information tags to form a composite substrate row. A first line of perforations is cut into a width of the composite substrate at one or more first spaced intervals, a length of the first spaced intervals being defined by a length of the display information tags. A a second line of perforations is cut into a width of the composite substrate at one or more second spaced intervals, a length of the second spaced intervals being defined by a height of the display information tags.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CONNECTING MEMBERS FOR CONNECTING AN AIRCRAFT WING TO A CENTER WING BOX, USING PREFORMS
A method is disclosed for manufacturing connecting members for connecting an aircraft wing to a center wing box, using preforms. The method involves a step of manufacturing at least one preform made of composite material forming the connecting member, and a step of assembling the preform or preforms by heat treatment to form the connecting member. The manufacturing method makes it possible, simply and quickly, to manufacture a connecting member that contributes to the connection between a center wing box of an aircraft and a wing of the aircraft.
Pile weatherstripping and other pile and brush articles having piles or brushes exclusively of polyamide (nylon) reactively bonded to an unlike plastic material especially polypropylene
Pile articles (20,22), especially pile weatherstripping, and a method and apparatus (10) for making such articles where the backing (24) and the pile (26) are of unlike material, especially nylon yarn for the pile (26) and polypropylene containing material for the backing (24), wherein prior to the welding of the pile (26) to the backing (24) the pile is first pre-heated using ultrasonic energy to melt the pile in a region (65) thereof where the pile is ultrasonically welded to the backing and before the weld is made. The ultrasonic melting occurs upstream of the location where the pile (26) is welded to the backing (24) so that the ultrasonically pre-heated melted region (65) of the pile (26) can cool and become at least partially solidified. Then pile (26) at the pre-heated melted region (65) is welded to the backing (24) and causes a reactive or chemical weld to occur, thereby attaching the pile (26) to the backing (24).
MACHINE AND METHOD FOR PAINT-ROLLER MANUFACTURING WITH INTEGRATED FINAL CUTTING ONLINE
A paint roller manufacturing system and method are described. In an embodiment, an inner strip of material and an outer strip of material are wound about a mandrel in offset relation. The inner strip of material and the outer strip of material each comprise material that results in a final paint roller which shrinks by less than 2.5 percent of the final paint roller axial length, or which has shrinkage that varies by less +/0.1%, upon hardening and setting. An adhesive is applied to at least a portion of the outer strip as it is wound about the mandrel. A length of fabric is wound about at least the outer strip to form a paint roller tube, and compression is applied to the paint roller tube while advancing the paint roller tube in a direction parallel to the mandrel. A precision measuring or sensing device is used to control a cutting device causing the cutting device to cut the advancing paint roller tube into pre-selected lengths prior to the paint roller tube hardening and setting.
Semi-finished product for the production of connection systems for electronic components and method
A semi-finished product for the production of connection systems for electronic components comprises two groups (A, B) of alternately applied conductive layers and insulating layers, wherein outer layers (2, 2) of the two groups (A, B) are facing each other to form a separation area for the groups (A, B) to be separated from each other to yield connection systems for electronic components and the separation area is overlapped and sealed on all sides thereof at least by the two insulating layers (4, 4) following the separation area. The method for the production of connection systems for electronic components is characterized by the following steps: a) orienting two groups (A, B) of alternately applied conductive layers and insulating layers (4, 4) to face each other with outer layers to form a separation area for the groups (A, B) to be separated from each other and safeguarding that the separation area is overlapped and sealed on all sides thereof at least by the two insulating layers (4, 4) following the separation area, b) processing the groups (A, B) of alternately applied conductive layers and insulating layer, c) cutting through the separation area along the edges thereof.
Tape attaching machine and tape removing method
A tape attaching machine for attaching an adhesive tape to a frame and a wafer and cutting the adhesive tape along the frame is provided. The tape attaching machine includes a tape winding unit configured to wind a remaining part of the adhesive tape left after cutting the adhesive tape, the remaining part of the adhesive tape being not attached to the frame and the wafer. The tape winding unit includes a main shaft like a roller and a pair of jigs detachably mounted on the opposite ends of the main shaft. Each of the jigs is engageable with the main shaft so as to have a tape contact area around which the remaining part of the adhesive tape is adapted to be wound and a grip area formed axially outside the tape contact area and adapted to be gripped by an operator.
Fiber-round engineered materials formed using element scrims
A fiber-bound engineered material is provided that imparts an intended characteristic at an intended relative location. A fiber layer is entangled with additional fibers in a manner to create a non-uniform engineered material. The lack of uniformity of a fiber-bound engineered material may be accomplished through manipulation of the fibers and/or through fiber binding a scrim. The fiber layer binds with additional fibers through entanglement such that a mechanical connection between the entangled fibers is provided. This entanglement allows the fibers to bind without supplemental adhesives, interlacing, or connections. Variations in the fibers and/or inclusion of scrim materials prior to entanglement allows for an intended characteristic (e.g., a functional characteristic) at an intended relative location (e.g., a position determined by an article to be formed therefrom).
