SEAM CONSTRUCTION USING RADIO FREQUENCY WELDING AND TAPE
A process of constructing an air tight and water tight seam, comprising cutting a sheet of selected material into two or more panels, sealing the panels at respective selected edges using an ultrasonic machine to form a seam, overlaying the seam with a tape made of the same selected material, and sealing the tape and seam using a radio frequency (RF) welding machine.
JOINING APPARATUS FOR SHEET-LIKE MATERIALS
A joining apparatus includes a fusing mechanism part that joins two thermoplastic sheet-like materials by fusing, a sticking mechanism part that sticks an adhesive tape along a joined portion of the sheet-like materials, a workbench having a placement surface on which the fusing mechanism part and the sticking mechanism part are disposed side by side, the placement surface allowing the sheet-like materials in an unfolded state to be placed thereon, and a guide that allows an end portion to be joined of one of the sheet-like materials and an end portion to be joined of the other sheet-like material to overlap each other while aligned along a plane intersecting the placement surface, each of the end portions to be joined of the sheet-like materials being placed on the placement surface, and to feed the overlapping end portions to be joined. The fusing mechanism part fuses and joins the end portions.
Method of forming a spliced joint in a handrail or other elongate article
A handrail has a thermoplastic body having a generally C-shaped cross section, a stretch inhibitor in the thermoplastic body above a T-shaped slot and a slider fabric layer. The handrail includes first and second end portions, each comprising a forward part extending from an end surface of the end portion and a rear part adjacent the forward part. A method of forming a joint can include: providing cuts to separate a top section of the thermoplastic body from a base section including shoulder portions; for each end portion, removing at least shoulder portions from the forward part thereof, to leave a central portion including a forward part at the slider fabric layer and a layer of thermoplastic; cutting the forward parts to a required shape; and assembling the first and second end portions together to form a spliced joint for moulding.
SEAM STRUCTURE OF PROTECTIVE CLOTHING THAT IS CAPABLE OF BEING FORMED QUICKLY AND HAS HIGH SEALING PERFORMANCE
A seam structure of protective clothing that is capable of being formed quickly and has high sealing performance provided includes: a first cloth including a first side surface and a second side surface opposite to each other; a second cloth welded to the first cloth and including a first surface and a second surface opposite to each other, wherein the first surface is abutted against and welded to the first side surface to form a first welding portion; a sealing cloth including a first sealing section and a third sealing section, wherein the first sealing section is abutted against and welded to the second side surface of the first cloth to form a second welding portion, and the third sealing section is abutted against and welded to the second surface of the second cloth to form a fourth welding portion.
FLUIDIC ACTUATOR SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MOBILE ROBOTS
An exoskeleton system comprising an inflatable actuator configured to be worn by a user. The inflatable actuator includes a fluid-impermeable member that defines a fluid chamber at least in part by a membrane material and a first and second interface that each define sidewalls, the membrane material is coupled to the sidewalls of the first and second interfaces.
FLUIDIC ACTUATOR MANUFACTURING METHOD
A method of constructing an inflatable fluidic actuator that includes generating a tube configuration with one or more shapes of fluid-impermeable membrane material, the tube configuration having a first tube end and a second tube end and an internal tube face and an external tube face. The method also includes coupling a first and second interface to the tube configuration at the first and second tube ends by respectively coupling each interface to the tube configuration at a respective tube end by generating at least one of: a first circumferential bond between the fluid-impermeable membrane material and one or more sidewalls of the interface; and an external face bond between fluid-impermeable membrane material at the tube end onto an external face of the interface.
PROFILE DISCONNECTION
A profile includes: a sidewall, a lumen for a fluid path, and an end, the profile including a thermoset material, wherein the profile includes a sealed end without an external bonding material, wherein the sealed end withstands a seal integrity pressure test of at least 1 psi, such as at least 5 psi, such as at least 10 psi, such as at least 15 psi, or even at least 20 psi air pressure for about 30 minutes under dry and wet conditions.
Apparatus for bonding overlapping material layers
An automatic bonding apparatus and a method for thermally induced seam bonding of weldable and/or gluable flat flexible material layers with each other which are each configured as a material web, material band and/or material piece and arranged so that they overlap at least partially wherein the bonding is performed by an electrically controlled contact heating arrangement through a heating wedge welding method. A temperature and/or a power of the heating wedge which is formed by a thin folded steel sheet blank is controlled as a function of a relative velocity between the material layers and the automatic bonding apparatus. This is performed so that a thermal energy that is transferred from the heating wedge to the material layers to be glued is kept constant. For this purpose the relative velocity is detected and the power of the heating wedge is automatically adjusted when the relative velocity changes.
WATER SPORT ARTICLE JOINT AND A METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A WATER SPORT ARTICLE JOINT
A water sport article is provided. The water sport article includes a joint formed between a first panel having a greater thickness than a second panel. The joint includes an overlapping interface between the first and second panels where one or more of adhesive bonding, blind stitching, and taping is used to attach the first and second panels at the overlapping interface.
