Provided are a rubber sheet member joining device and method. At least one opposing surface of a pair of gripping parts is provided with a contact member having a contact surface projecting toward an other opposing surface of the pair of gripping parts; the pair of gripping parts grip ranges in proximity to end surfaces in a state in which end surfaces project from the one opposing surface toward the other opposing surface; the total of end surface projection amounts of the end surfaces from the opposing surfaces is set to be a predetermined length larger than a separation distance between the opposing surfaces when the contact member is sandwiched between the opposing surfaces; and by bringing the contact member into a state of being sandwiched between the opposing surfaces, the movement of the gripping parts in proximity to each other is stopped and the end surfaces are joined together.

Laser welded body and method for manufacturing same

Provided is a laser welded body which can be manufactured without undergoing complicated steps and maintain the characteristics of a resin contained in a resin member, which exhibits high welding strength even when scanned with a laser beam at a high speed, and which can be manufactured at high production efficiency. The laser welded body 10 comprises a first resin member 1 which is a laser-irradiated subject which contains a thermoplastic resin and nigrosine sulfate and has an absorbance a.sub.1 of 0.09 to 0.9; and a second resin member 2 which contains a thermoplastic resin as the same kind as or different kind from the thermoplastic resin and a laser beam absorbent, and has an absorbance a.sub.2 of 3.0 to 15, wherein the first resin member 1 and the second resin member 2 are laser-welded at a part at which the both resin members are overlapped and/or butted.

Multi-layer metallic structure and composite-to-metal joint methods

A composite structure comprises stacked sets of laminated fiber reinforced resin plies and metal sheets. Edges of the resin plies and metal sheets are interleaved to form a composite-to-metal joint connecting the resin plies with the metal sheets.

Disclosed are embodiments of a volume control storage bag and methods of making same. The volume control storage bag may have first and second sidewalls, a double-locking closure mechanism with a first closure element extending along the first sidewall and a second closure element extending along the second sidewall, each closure element having a channel and an elongated member configured for interlocking with one another. A gusset is sealed along three sides of the first and second sidewalls, leaving an opening through the closure mechanism and defining an interior space having a specific volume. Corner seals may be formed at the corners of the first and second sidewalls, further reinforcing the double-locking closure mechanism for an airtight and hence waterproof seal. The volume control storage bag may be made of a food-grade polyethylene vinyl acetate blend, approximately 90% or less ethylene vinyl acetate and approximately 10% or less polyethylene.

Methods of joining and repairing composite components

A first thermoplastic component and a second thermoplastic component including a first joint portion and a second joint portion, respectively, are provided. A least a portion of a surface area of each of the first and second joint portions include a respective first and second mating surface. The first and second mating surfaces of the respective first and second joint portions are positioned in contact with one another. The first and second joint portions are fusion joined. Fusion joining the first and second joint portions forms a fused unitary portion of the first and second thermoplastic components.

Laser weldable compositions, products and uses thereof

Laser weldable compositions are provided which in various examples include a tricyclodecane dimethanol-modified copolymer, a terephthalate-type polyester and an inorganic filler. Compared with compositions without the tricyclodecane dimethanol-modified copolymer, the compositions of the invention have improved, uniform laser transmittance, thereby welded products including the compositions have improved bonding strength and require stronger tensile strength to be torn apart.

Laser welded body

Provided is a laser welded body which can be integrated through a laser-welding step without undergoing complicated steps even through use of the same or difference resin members each other, which has excellent welding strength between the resin members, which maintains the characteristics of a resin contained in the resin member and which exhibits the high welding strength by improving meltability of the resin members yet under a laser-welding condition of a medium and high scan speed. A laser welded body comprises a resin member(s) which contains a thermoplastic resin and nigrosine sulfate having a sulfate ion concentration of 0.3 to 5.0% by mass and has an absorbance a of 0.09 to 0.9, an adjoined part where the resin member(s) is overlapped and/or butted, and at least a part of the adjoined part is laser-welded.
