20180304542 · 2018-10-25 · ·

A composite component for a vehicle has a core layer made from a theiinoplastic plastic foam and at least one cover layer which is connected to the core layer. The core layer has a higher density in one region than the density of the semi-finished core layer. The cover layer formed from a fiber-reinforced plastic is connected in the region of higher density to at least one joining element by friction welding.

Process for Producing a Flexible Container
20180244418 · 2018-08-30 ·

The present disclosure is directed to a process. In an embodiment, the process includes (A) providing a flexible container having (i) a body, and (ii) a neck. The process includes (B) positioning a fitment into the neck. The fitment is composed of a polymeric material and includes a top portion and a tapered base. The tapered base extends from the top portion to a base end. The top portion has a top inner diameter (TiD) and the base end has a base end inner diameter (BEiD). The BEiD is less than the top inner diameter, (TiD). The process includes (C) heating the tapered base to a malleable state and (D) inserting a mandrel into the fitment. The mandrel includes an expandable collar. The process includes (E) expanding the expandable collar radially outward to contact an inner surface of the tapered base. The process includes (F) increasing, with the expanding, the inner diameter of the base end to a stretched base end inner diameter (sBEiD). The sBEiD is greater than the BEiD. The process includes (G) sealing, with a pair of opposing seal bars, the tapered base to the neck.

Method for producing thermoplastic foam panels by means of at least two heating elements offset in parallel with each other

The present invention relates to a process for the production of at least two-layer thermoplastic foam sheets via thermal welding of at least two thinner thermoplastic foam sheets. In the process of the invention, at least two heating elements are conducted on mutually offset planes between the surfaces to be welded of the thinner thermoplastic foam sheets, and the foam sheets here do not touch the heating elements. The number of layers of the thermoplastic foam sheet is per se a result of the number of thinner thermoplastic foam sheets that are thermally welded to one another. If by way of example three thinner thermoplastic foam sheets are thermally welded to one another, a three-layer thermoplastic foam sheet is per se obtained, and if there are four thinner thermoplastic foam sheets the result is accordingly per se a four-layer thermoplastic foam sheet.

Plastic Component with Fastening Pieces

A plastic component (100) with a substrate (130; 230) comprised of a plastic and at least one first fastening piece (110) that is embodied for a form-fitting engagement with a complementarily formed second fastening piece (210) and has at least one anchoring element (112; 212) for being embedded and fixed in position in the substrate (130; 230); the substrate (130; 230) is comprised of soft foam with a weight per unit volume of 120 kg/m3 to 300 kg/m3 and a Shore A hardness of 5 to 100 and the fastening element (110; 210) is comprised of a thermoplastic plastic.

Bonding objects together

A method of bonding a first object to a second object includes the steps of: providing the first object including thermoplastic material in a solid state, providing the second object including a proximal surface, applying a mechanical pressing force and a mechanical excitation capable to liquefy the thermoplastic material until a flow portion of the thermoplastic material is flowable and penetrates into structures of the second object, and stopping the mechanical excitation and letting the thermoplastic material resolidify to yield a positive-fit connection between the first and the second object. The second object has a region of low density, wherein the protrusion penetrates the region of low density at least partly before the thermoplastic material is made flowable, and wherein the first object includes a protruding portion after the step of letting the thermoplastic material resolidify, the protruding portion at least partly penetrates the region of low density.

Metal-containing polymeric reinforced pipe, method for manufacturing same and pipeline produced using said pipe
09857018 · 2018-01-02 ·

The polymeric pipes reinforced with a metal casing are used for transporting oil and gas, acids, alkali products, drinking water and industrial water, and also in the transportation of aggressive and neutral pulps. A metal-containing polymeric reinforced pipe includes a welded metal casing and a polymeric matrix having an amorphous-phase-based molecular structure. The metal-containing polymeric reinforced pipe is produced by extrusion moulding with simultaneous feeding of a polymer melt and the reinforcing metal casing into the mould cavity, followed by intensive cooling of the internal and external surfaces of the pipe being moulded. The invention increases the quality and endurance limit in the radial direction of the metal-containing polymeric reinforced pipe, productivity of the process for manufacturing the pipe, and also the strength and technological effectiveness of a pipeline constructed from the pipes produced.

Method of treating a fiber cushion body

A fiber cushion body, which is formed from cross-linked fiber material and which is resiliently deformable when load is applied along a main load direction, is treated using ultrasonic energy. A portion of the fiber cushion body is displaced, for example using a sonotrode, and ultrasonic vibrations are applied to the fiber cushion body to re-shape the fiber cushion body from a first shape to a second shape different from the first shape.
