A welding apparatus for use in welding first and second sheets of material together includes a seal die, a platen, a control unit, and a power source adapted to provide energy to the seal die. The seal die is made of a conductive material and is configured to impart thermal-mechanical energy to the first and second sheets of material. The seal die includes a bottom surface configured to contact the first sheet, an inner edge, a chamfer extending between the bottom surface and the inner edge, a first blend radius, and a second blend radius. The first radius extends between the chamfer and the bottom surface, while the second radius extends between the chamfer and the inner edge. The platen is configured to support the second sheet, while the control unit is programmed to cause the seal die to be directed towards the platen.

A device for welding plastic tubes includes a pair of tube holders each of which has a tube clamp which includes an upper jaw and a lower jaw. The jaws in both of the tube clamps of both tube holders have smooth tube contacting walls to permit the tubing to slip through either side when the tube holders and tubes are being moved from a loading station to a stripping station to increase the length of fluid free area in the clamped tubes. A cutting/welding station provides for cutting the tubes and welding them together.

The seal is formed using ultrasound transmitted by a weld horn as both layers of material move along an anvil portion. The seal on the edge is suitably formed to protect the edge and build a weld to ensure moldable sheet molding compound flows to the edges of the carrier sheet, while providing a homogeneous mixture of glass and resin and also allowing air to escape.

The coupling means couples the first and the second fasteners to each other so that the first and the second fasteners are movable with respect to each other and their movability is at least restricted on one side. Further, the first and the second fasteners are pre-tensionable with respect to each other via at least one spring element.

The invention relates to a horizontal transverse sealing station (10a-b), in particular for a horizontal tubular bag machine (12a-b), for producing transverse sealing seams (14a-b) on at least one film tube (18a-b) transported in a continuous, at least essentially horizontal transport direction (16a-b), comprising a transverse sealing station base (20a-b) fixedly connected to a packing machine (22a-b), a transverse sealing unit (24a-b), and at least one sealing jaw pair (28a-b) movably mounted on the transverse sealing unit (24a-b) and formed by two sealing jaws (26a-b), the sealing surfaces (30a-b) of which come closer to each other during a sealing process in a sealing movement (32a-b), which relative to the transverse sealing unit (24a-b) is provided with at least one movement component (34a-b) in the transport direction (16a-b), in order to seal material layers (36a-b) of the film tube (18a-b) between the sealing surfaces (30a-b) by way of heating and/or applying pressure, and to remove again at the end of the sealing process.
