MULTILAYER FILMS AND SEALED PACKAGES MADE FROM THESE FILMS
Multilayer Films have a first skin layer that is prepared from a high density polyethylene and a second skin layer (also referred to as the sealant layer) that is prepared from a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) having a density of from 0.90 to 0.92 g/cc and a Dilution Index, Yd, of greater than 0°. Seals can be prepared by placing two pieces of this film against each other such that the sealant layers are in contact with each other, then applying heat to at least one high density skin layer such that heat is transmitted/conducted through the multilayer film in a sufficient amount to melt the sealant layer and form a seal. The use of LLDPE having a Dilution Index of greater than 0° has been found to improve the sealing performance of multilayer films in comparison to multilayer films where the sealant layer is a conventional LLDPE having a Dilution Index of less than 0°.
POLYETHYLENE POUCH AND THE FABRICATION METHOD THEREOF
The present disclosure is concerned with a method of forming a seal with a polyethylene based film structure. The polyethylene based film structure has at least one layer formed with an oriented polyethylene having a predetermined melting temperature (T.sub.m). A conductive heat sealing device provides heat to form the seal, where a first sealing bar of the conductive heat sealing device operates at a first operating temperature of at least 10 degrees Celsius (° C.) below the T.sub.m of the oriented polyethylene in the polyethylene based film structure and a second sealing bar of the conductive heat sealing device operates at a second operating temperature of at least 15° C. higher than the operating temperature of the first sealing bar. The seal formed with the polyethylene based film structure retains at least 99 percent of its original surface area prior to forming the seal.
Apparatus and methods for fabricating tote bags
In one method, a piece of nonwoven PET or PP fabric is formed into a tote bag using a bag forming device. Seams of the tote bag are ultrasonically welded using an ultrasonic bag welding device. The ultrasonic bag welding device includes at least one sonotrode. In another method, BOPP film is received and a full-color graphic is printed on the BOPP film for each tote bag using a printer. The printed BOPP film is received from the printer and nonwoven PP or PET fabric is received from a roll of nonwoven PP or PET fabric using a laminator. The printed BOPP film is laminated to the nonwoven PP or PET fabric. The printed BOPP film laminated to nonwoven PP or PET fabric is received from the laminator and a finished version of each tote bag is produced using an ultrasonic bag welding device.
Storage bag and an apparatus and method for making the storage bag
A storage bag comprising a floor, the floor having four corners and edges, the four corners defining a planar surface; a pair of opposing triangular interstitial regions, each triangular interstitial region having a vertex, two sides, and a base, the base of the triangle co-linear with one edge of the floor; a gusset, the gusset bisecting the floor region and both opposing interstitial regions, the gusset co-linear with the vertex of both of triangular interstitial regions; a pair of opposing body regions, the lower edge of each opposing body regions co-linear with two corners of the floor region; and, an opening, the corners of the opening forming an imaginary plane, wherein the planar surface formed by the corners of the floor region and the imaginary plane formed by the opening of the body region are in parallel planes after the storage bag is opened for use.

Flexible package-forming machine for horizontal packaging by means of folding and welding a flexible band and method
A machine comprising: a flexible band (1) unwinding unit (11), a flexible band (1) folding unit (14), a drive unit (31) for moving the flexible band (1) in a forward movement direction (DA), a welding unit (16) and a laser beam cutting unit (53) for separating each individual flexible package from the flexible band (1) and for providing a fill opening in each flexible package by at least one fill opening cut, the laser beam cutting unit (53) having associated therewith a separator device, movable in a vertical direction and including an insertable separator element (41), interposed between the opposite faces of the folded flexible band (1), in an area adjacent to the fill opening (3), for separating the opposite faces of the flexible band (1) during cutting operations to prevent the fusion thereof.
CONTOUR-FORMING WELDING TOOL FOR PULSE WELDING AND CONTOUR-FORMING PULSE WELDING METHOD FOR A MEDICAL PACK FORMED AS A BAG
The invention relates to a welding tool and to a method for pulse welding of plastic films for medical packs formed as bags. In general, the invention provides that the film material which is plastified during welding and thus free-flowing is specifically displaced into a deepened, edge-side inner region of the sealing surface by increasing the sealing surface area. The film material accumulated in the recess leads to an increase in the film thickness in the inner region (25i) of the weld seam (6, 7, 8). As a result, the mechanical stability of the medical pack formed as a bag can be improved.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING BAGS
A machine and method for making bags is described and includes a web traveling from an input section to a rotary drum, to an output section.
