Apparatus and techniques for coating pipeline field joints
An injection molding apparatus has a mold tool that is positioned around a field joint of a pipeline to define a mold cavity. Two or more pumping chambers communicate with the mold tool. Each chamber is expansible to draw in molten polymer and contractible to drive the polymer into the mold cavity. Expansion of one chamber is synchronized with contraction of another chamber. The operation of supply and injection valves associated with the chambers is also synchronized, both with each other and with expansion and contraction of the chambers. In the embodiment described, two pumping chambers are defined within a common pressurizing cylinder, in which the chambers are separated by a piston. The piston is movable within the cylinder to determine and to synchronize expansion and contraction of the chambers.
INJECTION MOLDING METHOD, USE OF A SENSOR, AND INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE
An injection-molding method is provided in which in a first injection-molding step at least one first material component (17) is injected into a mold cavity (4) of an injection mold (3). The first injection-molding step is terminated when a condition pertaining to a first material volume that has been injected in the first injection-molding step has been met. This condition can be, for example, a minimum filling level which is caused in the mold cavity (4) by a material volume from the at least one first material component (17) that in the first injection-molding step has been injected into the mold cavity (4). When the minimum filling level can be detected or confirmed, for example with the aid of a sensor (10), the first injection-molding step is terminated and a second injection-molding step can optionally be started.
FOAM MOLDING METHOD, CONTROL METHOD FOR INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE FOR FOAM MOLDING, AND INJECTION MOLDING MACHINE FOR FOAM MOLDING
A foam molding method includes: moving a screw backward to take air into a heating barrel through a nozzle part in a state in which a shut-off nozzle is opened, the shut-off nozzle that opens or closes the nozzle part for injecting the molten resin and is disposed on a heating barrel; closing the shut-off nozzle and moving the screw forward, to diffuse the air taken into the heating barrel, in the molten resin in the heating barrel; feeding the molten resin forward while dispersing the air as the air bubbles in the molten resin by moving the screw backward while rotating it in a state in which the shut-off nozzle is closed; and opening the shut-off nozzle, to inject the molten resin containing the dispersed air bubbles into the cavity.
Systems and Approaches for Manufacturing Parts
Systems and approaches for controlling a molding machine having a mold forming a mold cavity and being controlled according to a mold cycle include injecting a molten polymer into the mold cavity. A first and a second sensor are used to obtain first measurements of respective first and second variables during the injection cycle. The second sensor is positioned downstream from the first sensor. The first and second sensors are used to obtain second measurements of the respective first and second variables during the injection cycle. A first difference value is determined between the first measurements of the first and second variables. A second difference value is determined between the second measurements of the first and second variables. The first and second difference values are compared, and at least one control parameter is adjusted based on a difference between the first and the second difference values.
LARGE PART INJECTION MOLD APPARATUS AND PROCESS
A method of performing an injection cycle having a duration comprising: beginning the injection cycle with the valve pins associated with two or more nozzles in a gate closed position, selecting a first one of the two or more nozzles and controllably driving its associated valve pin from the gate closed position to a selected first axial upstream position, upon downstream flow of the injection fluid through a cavity the preselected distance, controllably driving the valve pin associated with the other of the two or more nozzles to a selected second axial position upstream, holding or controllably driving the valve pin associated with the first one of the two or more nozzles in or to one or more reduced flow axial upstream positions that are partially closed.
