COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF A HIGHLY FLEXIBLE PHA SHEET
The present specification generally relates an aliphatic polyester material and a process for converting said aliphatic polyester material into a textile that is preferable for use as an artificial leather substrate. The present invention discloses: (i) a novel aliphatic polyester composition comprising a polyhydroxyalkanoate (referred to herein as PHA), an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer resin (referred to herein as EVA) or similarly functional such material, and an ester of citrate acid plasticizer or similarly functional such material; and (ii) an inventive process for converting the novel aliphatic polyester composition into a textile by (a) melt extruding the aliphatic polyester material into an aliphatic polyester sheet; (b) heating said sheet; and (c) monoaxially or biaxially orienting said sheet in the machine direction followed by orientation in the transverse direction; and/or heating the monoaxially or biaxially oriented sheet at a temperature above the Tg of both the polyhydroxyalkanoate and ethylene-vinyl acetate resin components but below the melting point of the polyhydroxyalkanoat component.

Aspects of the present invention relate to a tire tread production line and a method for manufacturing a tire tread. The production line comprises a coextruder, a THz sensor and a controller operatively connected to the coextruder and to the THz sensor. The THz sensor is configured to irradiate the multi-layer tire tread extrudate with THz electromagnetic radiation, and receive a response of the multi-layer tire tread extrudate to the THz electromagnetic radiation. The controller is configured to operate the coextruder based on the response of the multi-layer tire tread extrudate to the THz electromagnetic radiation.
Nozzle for extruding a preform tube
An extrusion nozzle for making tubular preforms has a mandrel extending along a vertical axis, an annular and stationary nozzle body spacedly radially surrounding the mandrel, and a holding ring having an upper end axially slidable in the nozzle body, braced axially downwardly against the nozzle body, and having a lower end spaced radially inward from shiftable limitedly radially relative to the nozzle body. A nozzle ring has an upper end axially slidable in the holding ring, is braced axially downwardly against the nozzle body, and has a radially deflectable lower end forming an annular extrusion gap with the mandrel. A first positioner engages the lower end of nozzle ring and is operable to radially deflect this lower end. A second positioner engages radially with the lower end of the holding ring or with the nozzle ring for radially deflecting same.

The method of the present invention is a method for improving visibility of an image display device that has an optical layered body including a light-transmitting substrate having in-plane birefringence and an optical functional layer disposed on one surface of the substrate. The method includes the step of disposing the optical layered body such that the slow axis showing a greater refractive index of the light-transmitting substrate is in parallel with the vertical direction of a display screen of the image display device.
Method for automatically regulating the size of a slot of a nozzle assembly and control and/or regulation system
The invention relates to a method for automatically regulating the size of a nozzle discharge slot of a nozzle assembly, wherein the nozzle assembly comprises a first and a second nozzle lip and a nozzle discharge slot arranged between the nozzle lips for setting in a controlled manner a thickness profile of a conveyable melt. A plurality of adjusting elements, in particular a plurality of adjusting pins, coupled to a respective thermoelement, is arranged on the first nozzle lip, the thermoelements being controllable by the regulation in such a way that the slot can be adjusted by the action of a mechanical force from the respective adjusting element on the first nozzle lip, as a result of the expansion or contraction of the thermoelements. At an initial operation of the nozzle assembly for conveying the melt, the adjusting elements for subsequent regulation of the slot size are set uniquely free from play as the initial setting. The invention further relates to a control and/or regulation system.
