A die includes an upper body member and an adjustment system. The adjustment system includes an adjustment body that defines a plurality of channels, and a plurality of adjusters. An extrusion die is part of a hollow profile extruder. The extrusion die has a die housing. An extrusion annulus is inwardly defined by a mandrel and outwardly defined by a die ring. The mandrel is held and supported by a housing-side mandrel support. The mandrel support is mounted by a tilt joint tiltably relative to the tool ring by two degrees of freedom. Depending on the tilted position of the mandrel support, a distribution of a width of the extrusion annulus can be adjusted. A centering device serves to set the tilted position of the mandrel support. The result is an extrusion die, which ensures manageable adjustment of a wall width of a hollow profile in mass production.

The method of the present invention is a method for improving visibility of an image display device that has an optical layered body including a light-transmitting substrate having in-plane birefringence and an optical functional layer disposed on one surface of the substrate. The method includes the step of disposing the optical layered body such that the slow axis showing a greater refractive index of the light-transmitting substrate is in parallel with the vertical direction of a display screen of the image display device.

A die apparatus including a flexible lip integrally connected to a main body, the lip configured to adjust a gap between the flexible lip and a second lip and includes a slide bar equipped with multiple linear bearings where the slide bar and bearings are positioned in a slot of the main body, the multiple bearings further positioned in multiple pockets defined by the slide bar, the slot positioned in a spaced relation from the lip. In one aspect the slide bar includes a threaded hole to receive a fastener configured to fasten a pivot member to the slide bar, the pivot member configured to pivot in order to adjust the lip. The slide bar and bearings may be used on a variety of die apparatus having an integrally connected lip.

The invention relates to a method for producing plastic profiles, according to which a starting material is plasticated and formed in an extruder, then is cooled and calibrated in at least one dry calibration unit and at least one calibration tank and is subsequently subdivided into individual profile sections. To achieve optimal control of the extrusion line, measurements relating to the geometry and/or the weight of the plastic profile are continuously carried out downstream of the calibration tank and correction values, which are used to change settings in the extruder, the dry calibration unit and/or the calibration tank, are calculated directly from these measured values.

The invention relates to the detection and use of film topography (23) of a film web (13, 40, 51) produced in blow film or casting film methods for improving the quality of the film web (13, 40, 51). In particular, film topography (23) can be quantitatively detected using said the invention. In another aspect of the invention, the film topography (23) is analysed using a pattern recognition algorithm and is optionally allocated an error image (50). This information is used in order to improve the quality of the film web (13, 40, 51) by controlling action recommendations dependent on the error image and to quantitatively detect the flatness of a film web (13, 40, 51). The invention also relates to an influencing element (30) for influencing the properties of a film web (13, 40, 51) in the position where the film topography (23) is determined.
