PREFORMS AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING PREFORMS
20180186035 · 2018-07-05 ·

The invention relates to a preform for producing a plastic container in a 2-stage stretch blow molding method, said preform having a preform body that extends along a central axis and that comprises: a first end a second end that lies opposite the first end, wherein the first end is closed and a neck part with a pouring opening adjoins the second end; and an inner wall that delimits an interior of the preform. Along a length of at least 30 mm of the interior, every point of the inner wall is at a distance of less than 3.5 mm from the central axis. Also disclosed are a suitable method and a device for producing such a preform.

STRETCH BLOW MOLDING PROCESS
20180186056 · 2018-07-05 ·

A stretch blow molding process for producing a plastic container from a preform, having an elongated, tubular preform body, extending along a center axis. The first end of the preform body is closed by a preform bottom and the second end is adjoined by a neck part with a pouring opening. A wall, bounds an interior space of the preform. The preform body is heated and introduced into a cavity of a blow mold. A stretching mandrel enters the preform until the stretching mandrel tip reaches the preform bottom. The preform body and the preform bottom are stretched by the stretching mandrel. The preform body and the preform bottom are deformed by introducing a fluid into the preform under pressure. The stretching mandrel makes contact with the inner side of the wall in the region of the preform body.

Container preform

A preform configured to be blow-molded into a plastic bottle includes a neck section defining an opening, the neck section including a threaded portion configured to engage a closure, and a neck ring, a transition section having a first end positioned adjacent to the neck ring and a second end opposite the first end, a cylindrical body section extending from the second end of the transition section to a base, and a longitudinal axis extending from the opening through the base. The neck section, transition section, and the body section define a hollow channel positioned between the opening and the base. The transition section defines a tapered sidewall relative to the longitudinal axis, the tapered sidewall decreases a cross-sectional diameter of the hollow channel. The tapered sidewall of the transition section contains 20% to 30% of a total weight of the preform.

Preform and method for the manufacture of a PEF container using said preform by injection stretch blow-molding

A preform, which makes it possible to obtain PEF containers (bottles) having the awaited properties, notably mechanical, by an industrial injection stretch blow molding process, is of made of a thermoplastic PEF polymer of 2,5-FuranDiCarboxylic Acid (2,5-FDCA) monomer and monoethylene glycol (MEG) monomer and comprises a neck end 2, a neck support ring 3, and a closed tubular body portion 4. The preform is designed so as to produce, by injection stretch blow-molding, a container, the axial stretch ratio of which is greater than or equal to its hoop stretch ratio. Also provided is a plastic container 10, preferably a bottle, obtained by injection stretch blow-molding of PEF preform, the bottle 10 having an axial stretch ratio greater than or equal to the hoop stretch ratio. A method for manufacturing the bottle 10 is also provided.

Finish of a preform and a container formed from the preform

A finish of a preform and a container formed from the preform. The finish has a brim defining an opening of the finish. The brim is configured to provide a sealing surface with a forming and filling head for forming the container from the preform and filling the container with a product. A support flange extends from an outer side surface of the finish. The support flange includes an undersurface having an inner portion that is directly opposite to the brim. The inner portion of the undersurface of the support flange is closer to an axial center of the finish than an innermost portion of the outer side surface.
