Tyre layer application assembly and method

A tire layer application assembly and a method for applying a tire layer around a substantially circular circumferential surface of an object. The assembly is provided with a drive which, during application, is coupled to the object for driving the object in a driven rotation about a concentric axis of rotation with respect to the circumferential surface, wherein the assembly includes a tracking device which, during application, is arranged to be fixed to a part of the tire layer that is applied to the circumferential surface, wherein the tracking device is rotatable in a tracking rotation about the axis of rotation of the object, independent of the driven rotation of the object about the same axis of rotation.

The collapse of conductive terminal rubber strips is prevented while a conductive terminal portion is formed stably to have an exposure width of 5 mm or less. The conductive terminal portion is formed by continuously winding the terminal strips formed of a conductive rubber toward an outward radial direction from a tread conductive layer to a tread ground contacting surface. The terminal strip is sequentially wound while shifting a position at a pitch D of a distance in a tire axial direction while the terminal strip goes around such that the conductive terminal portion constitutes a trapezoidal cross section in which a width (Wa) of an upper base is smaller than a width (Ws) of the terminal strip and a width (Wb) of a lower base is larger than the width (Ws) of the terminal strip. The width (Wa) of the upper base is within a range of between 2 mm and 5 mm.

The strip is formed of a single layer including a first layer arranged in a tire innermost layer or composite layers of the first layer and a second layer disposed adjacently to a carcass ply and made of a thermoplastic elastomer composition. The first layer is a thermoplastic elastomer composition containing a styrene-isobutylene-styrene block copolymer and a tackifier, a butyl-based rubber and a natural rubber. The strip has a strip main body having a thickness (T1) of 0.02 to 1.0 mm and ear portions formed on opposite sides of the strip main body. The ear portions have a thickness (T2) smaller than the thickness (T1) and a width (W2) of 0.5 mm to 5.0 mm.

Provided are a device and a method for inspecting a cylindrical member. During inspection of a cylindrical member, a degree of widthwise misalignment of a strip-shaped member wound around a molding drum is calculated by a control unit on the basis of detection data from a position sensor and position data of drum-widthwise end faces that are perpendicular to a drum axial center of the molding drum, and the widthwise misalignment of the strip-shaped member is determined to be inside or outside an allowable range on the basis of the calculation result.

PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR BUILDING TYRES

A process and an apparatus for building tyres, wherein, in the process, a carcass sleeve including at least one carcass ply and a pair of annular anchoring structures is transferred to a shaping drum including flange elements that are each engageable with one of said annular anchoring structures. The carcass sleeve is shaped according to a toroidal configuration by means of mutual axial approaching of the flange elements. Before shaping, annular grip elements respectively carried by the flange elements are radially expanded, each inside one of the annular anchoring structures, in order to engage the carcass sleeve. The annular anchoring structures are moved axially apart from each other before engaging the carcass sleeve by means of the annular grip elements.

Tire with welded thermoplastic constituent members

It is ensured the strength of a welded section in a tire that is configured by welding tire constituent members formed of a thermoplastic material. A tire has a first welded portion, in which one section of one tire constituent member and one section of another tire constituent member are both melted and welded, and a second welded portion, which is formed by welding a welding-use thermoplastic material to the surface of the first welded portion, whereby the strength of the joint section is ensured.

In a tire having a belt ply that is formed from ply strips arranged at intervals in the tire circumferential direction, in order to prevent deterioration in durability when high modulus organic fibers are used in a band cord, said tire is provided with a belt layer comprising a belt ply, and a band layer comprising a band ply positioned to the outside of the belt layer in the radial direction. The belt ply is formed by a plurality of ply strips, which are narrow and have a prescribed length, arranged side-by-side with intervals therebetween in the tire circumferential direction. The band ply is formed by a ply tape, which is narrow and long, wound spirally in the tire circumferential direction. The band cord comprises a composite cord in which first strands, which comprise high modulus organic fibers, and second strands, which comprise low modulus organic fibers and are narrower than the first strands, are twisted together.

Each of a plurality of pressure rolls is displaced around the shaft member and pressurizes the tire constituent member. Each of a plurality of supporting parts supports the pressure roll rotatably from the inside of the pressure roll and is displaced integrally with the pressure roll. A plurality of pressure holes are formed in a plurality of points of the shaft member corresponding to positions of the plurality of pressure rolls so as to extend in the pressurization direction for the tire constituent member. Each of a plurality of moving members projects in the pressurization direction from the pressure hole so as to pressurize the pressure roll. Each of a plurality of supply pipes is arranged in the inside space around the shaft member so as to each supply the pressurizing medium for pressurizing the moving member into the pressure hole.
