Drum for producing a tire, provided with mobile sectors
A drum for producing a tire casing blank comprises a support and sectors forming a circumferential face of the drum. Each sector has a circumferential outer face having a contour of general trapezoidal form and is mounted so as to be movable relative to the support in a non-radial predetermined direction relative to an axis of rotation of the drum and intercepting this axis.
Drum and method for assembling an adapter for mounting a tire on a wheel rim
A radially expandable building drum, in which is intended for manufacturing an adapter for mounting a tire on a wheel rim, includes a central shaft, a first set of segments, and a second set of segments. All of the segments are arranged circumferentially around the shaft to form a generally cylindrically shaped external face of the drum. The segments of the first set and the segments of the second set face one another axially. The drum is structured to allow a different radial expansion of the segments of the first set in relation to the segments of the second set, between two working positions.
Method of making a tire
A method of building a tire carcass is disclosed. The method of building the tire carcass includes the steps of applying one or more tire building components onto a drum forming a cylindrically shaped tire carcass. Placing a first and second bead onto the tire building components on the drum so that the tire carcass ends of the tire carcass extend laterally between the beads. Radially expanding a first and second bead lock mechanism into engagement with a respective first and second bead. Inflating the carcass under low pressure into engagement with a belt and tread package while moving the beads axially inward. Moving the beads axially inward to the axial width of the widest breaker position; Turning up the outer lateral ends of the cylindrically shaped tire carcass about a respective first and second bead.
Expandable rim for tire tread buffing apparatus and method
A machine for retreading tires includes a rotatable hub that includes a moveable conical element, and an expandable rim disposed around the rotatable hub. The expandable rim includes a plurality of shoes. Each shoe of the plurality of shoes may have a base portion and a rim portion. The base portion may have a two-piece construction that allows for replacement of a worn interface that may include a channel and a ramp. A method for assembling an expandable rim for use in a tire retreading machine, and a method for servicing a machine having an expandable rim are also disclosed.

Process and apparatus for building tyres for vehicle wheels and tyre for vehicle wheels
A process and an apparatus for building tyres and a tyre for vehicle wheels are described. A substantially cylindrical carcass sleeve, having at least one carcass ply, is formed by laying consecutively adjacent strip-like elements one after the other around the circumferential extension of a substantially cylindrical deposition surface. Circumferentially consecutive strip-like elements are laid one after the other to form overlap zones along respective longitudinal edges superimposed on each other. Each overlap zone has, along a longitudinal extension thereof, terminal sections that are laterally opposite with respect to an intermediate section. The intermediate section of each overlap zone has greater width than the width of the terminal sections.
Process and plant for building tyres for vehicle wheels
In a shaping station (13), a toroidal forming drum (23) is positioned within a carcass sleeve (12) comprising at least one carcass ply (3) associated with a pair of beads (6) in radially inner position. The carcass sleeve (12) is toroidally shaped by radial expansion of the forming drum (23). The forming drum (23) carrying the shaped carcass sleeve (12) is removed from the shaping station (13). Tyre components (7, 8, 9) are applied externally on the shaped carcass sleeve (12), carried by the forming drum (23). At the end of the shaping and during the application of the tyre components (7, 8, 9), axially inner sides of said beads (6) are arranged axially against respective circumferential axially outer portions (S1) of an abutment surface (S) carried by the expanded forming drum (23), having shape corresponding to an inner shape of the shaped carcass sleeve (12).
TIRE MOLDING DEVICE
Provided is a tire molding device to mold an unvulcanized tire, including a spindle, and a drum mechanism disposed on an outer peripheral side of the spindle, the drum mechanism includes a first half drum fixed on one end side of the spindle, and a second half drum that is not supported by the spindle and is connected to the spindle closer to the other end side of the spindle than the first half drum, and the spindle moves along an axial direction of the spindle.

Process and apparatus for manufacturing pneumatic tyres for vehicle wheels
In a process for building tyres for vehicle wheels, a carcass sleeve is arranged on a shaping drum including two half-drums and two supports. Each support is operatively associated with one of the half-drums and carries a plurality of turning-up levers having free ends positioned close to the respective half-drum. Two annular anchoring structures are disposed around the carcass sleeve and each of the two supports is locked to the respective half-drum by interposing only stiff mechanical elements in mutual contact between the support and the half-drum. The carcass sleeve is shaped in a toroidal conformation, by setting a threaded shaft in rotation and moving the half-drums close to each other. Subsequently, each of the two supports is unlocked from the respective half-drum and the threaded shaft is set in rotation to move each support close to the respective half-drum and lift up the free ends of the turning-up levers until the end flaps of the carcass sleeve are turned up around the annular anchoring structures.
