A tire manufacturing method to obtain a base tire superior in uniformity when the base tire has a cushion gum applied thereon. In this process of tire manufacture, the thickness from a belt, which is located in the outermost layer of the base tire having an application surface for the cushion gum, to the application surface is measured along the circumference of the base tire so as to detect a maximum thickness position. Then the circumferential winding of the cushion gum extruded from an extrusion molding unit is started from the maximum thickness position.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR RETREAD SIDEWALL MACHINING

A method of forming a retreaded tire is provided. The method includes coupling a retread element to a tire casing to form a retreaded tire having a tread surface and machining a sidewall of the retreaded tire. The sidewall of the retreaded tire is then machined, where machining the sidewall of the retreaded tire includes removing a portion of the sidewall to form a concave fillet in the sidewall. The concave fillet is positioned radially inward from the tread surface.

METHOD FOR IMPROVED BONDING OF TREAD EDGES FOR TIRE RETREADING OPERATIONS

Particular embodiments of the invention concerns methods of forming a retreaded tire with improved tread edge area bonding, and re-treaded tires formed thereby. One embodiment of such methods includes forming an unbonded retreaded tire by arranging a pre-cured tread annularly around an annular tire carcass with a bonding layer arranged there between. The pre-cured tread includes a pair of opposing tread edges laterally-spaced to define a width of the pre-cured tread. The method also includes bonding the tread of the unbonded tire to the tire carcass to form a bonded retreaded tire by sufficiently pressurizing and heating the curing chamber to cure the bonding layer of the unbonded tire, which includes at least partially bonding a pair of laterally-spaced tread edge areas of the pre-cured tread to the tire carcass prior to an intermediate portion of the pre-cured tread located between the pair of laterally-spaced tread edge areas.

METHOD FOR MOLDING AN ELASTOMER THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITE FOR A TIRE

A process for molding a tire elastomeric thermoplastic composite comprises a stage in which a layer of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) is applied against one of the faces of the composite, followed by a molding stage for vulcanization of the composite and crosslinking of the layer of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with the neighboring layer of rubber material. The process furthermore comprises a stage consisting in applying a nonstick protective layer (12) against the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) face intended to be in contact with the mold.

METHOD FOR RETREADING A TIRE USING A DUAL HEATING EFFECT

The method includes the step of passing an electric current through at least one wire that is situated between a carcass of a tire casing and a tread. The method also includes the step of calculating a value of a temperature of the wire as a function of a relative value of the current. The method proceeds with the step of controlling the current as a function of the temperature value calculated.

Provided is a retreaded tire that uses cushion rubber for retread that is able to further improve the prevention of separation failure while effectively suppressing blowout within the cushion rubber layer. The retreaded tire includes cushion rubber for retread, a base tire, and precured tread rubber formed of at least one rubber layer, and is characterized by: the aforementioned cushion rubber for retreaded tires being formed from a rubber composition containing specific quantities of a highly reinforcing carbon black of at least HAF grade, and natural rubber and/or synthetic polyisoprene rubber; the 100% modulus (A.sub.M) of the rubber layer (A) that comprises the aforementioned cushion rubber for retread being at least 3.0 MPa and less than 6.0 MPa; and the outermost layer (B) of the aforementioned base tire and the innermost layer (C) of the aforementioned precured tread rubber being formed from a rubber composition containing specific quantities of natural rubber and/or synthetic polyisoprene rubber.

METHOD FOR RETREADING A TIRE CASING USING A ROLLER

A method of retreading a tire casing includes the step of disposing a cured rubber tread on a carcass with a layer of hot-melt material interposed between the tread and the carcass. The method continues with the step of rollering the tread by means of at least one roller with a width (r) that is less than a width (b) of the tread.

Pneumatic tire and a process to retread a tire

A pneumatic tire and a process to retread a tire is provided. The retreaded tire has a carcass and a crown region, wherein the crown region comprises a belt reinforcement structure located between the carcass and a tread. The retreaded tire further comprises a cementless cushion layer located radially outward of said belt reinforcement structure, and one or more reinforcement plies located radially outward of the cementless cushion layer. The one or more reinforcement plies is formed from a substantially continuous strip of reinforced elastomer which is wound from one side of the crown to the other side in a substantially continuous manner. The reinforcement ply may be formed from spirally winding the strip about the carcass, or one or more reinforcement plies may be formed from winding the strip about the carcass in a zigzag pattern.

Use of a moisture reservoir for retreading

A method of retreading a tire. The method includes the steps of applying a primer to an inner surface of a circumferential tread and applying the primer to an outer surface of a tire casing; applying an adhesive to the primer disposed on the inner surface and the primer disposed on the outer surface; applying the circumferential tread to the tire casing so the inner surface contacts the outer surface and a bondline edge forms circumferentially about the tire casing proximate to a shoulder area of the tire casing; and coupling a moisture reservoir to the circumferential tread proximate to the bondline edge.
