SODIUM-CONTAINING PACKAGED BEVERAGE
An object of the present invention is to provide a beverage that not only allows for rapid replenishment of water, carbohydrate and salt for the purpose of taking measures against heatstroke but also is comfortably drinkable.
It was found that sliminess, bitterness, bad aftertaste and unpleasant finish derived from sodium can be reduced by adding coconut water. It was also found that lauric acid, which is a fatty acid abundant in coconut water, exerts an effect to reduce sliminess, bitterness and other discomforts derived from sodium. The present invention provides a lauric acid-containing beverage which is comfortably drinkable since sliminess, bitterness and other discomforts derived from sodium present in the beverage are reduced.
SWEETENED DAIRY PRODUCT COMPRISING STEVIOL GLYCOSIDES AND FURTHER ADDITIVES
The invention concerns a sweetened dairy product comprising a dairy material, at least one steviol glycoside, at least one additive selected from a polysaccharide of fructose units and a salt.
EICOSAPENTAENOIC ACID-PRODUCING MICROORGANISMS, FATTY ACID COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USES THEREOF
The present invention is directed to isolated microorganisms as well as strains and mutants thereof, biomasses, microbial oils, compositions, and cultures; methods of producing the microbial oils, biomasses, and mutants; and methods of using the isolated microorganisms, biomasses, and microbial oils.
Bovine milk having a high N6-polyunsaturated fatty acid content
The present invention relates to bovine milk fat comprising, based on total fatty acid content, 8.9-29.0 wt % linoleic acid (C18:2 cis, 9,12), 0.9-2.4 wt % alpha-linolenic acid (C18:3 cis 9,12,15), and 3-5 wt % butyric acid (C4:0). The present invention further relates to a bovine milk comprising said milk fat and to a method for producing said milk by feeding a lactating bovine mammal with a rumen-protected linoleic acid source and a rumen-protected alpha-linolenic acid source, followed by milking the lactating bovine animal.
OIL-IN-WATER EMULSIONS COMPRISING A POLYUNSATURATED FATTY ACID AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
The present invention relates to stable oil-in-water emulsions comprising a polyunsaturated fatty acid, an emulsifier, water, a metal chelating agent, and an antioxidant, and processes for preparing the stable oil-in-water emulsions. The stable oil-in-water emulsions are substantially free from coalescence, flocculation, Ostwald ripening, and creaming, for a period of at least five months at a temperature of about 4 C.
