Fish egg extracts, omega-3 lipid-based compositions and uses thereof
Novel methods for isolating fish roe/egg extracts, notably a coagulum and a sediment extract, enriched in phospholipids and omega-3 fatty acids are described. Novel compositions comprising omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and micronutrients, which may be used for the management of neurological conditions such as ADD-ADHD, autism, cognitive impairment, and mood disorders are also described. These compositions are homogenous compositions comprising effective amounts of omega-3 fatty acids in microencapsulated or emulsified form, and/or from the sediment extract from fish roe/egg, vitamin B6, magnesium, zinc and copper, and may further comprise additional ingredients such as folic acid (e.g., L-methyl folate) and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA).
Buttermilk
The present invention relates to a method for producing buttermilk, comprising the steps of: providing raw cream having a fat content in the range of about 35% w/w to about 60% w/w; washing the raw cream with a washing liquid to provide a solution of the raw cream and the washing liquid; separating the washing liquid from the solution to provide washed cream with a reduced non-fat dry matter content; churning the washed cream to provide buttermilk having a content of phospholipids of at least 3% based on dry matter content, specifically at least 3.8%, more specifically at least 5.0%.
Human and non-human animal use of microbial anaplerotic oil
Disclosed are techniques and systems for producing microbials having anaplerotic oils that are rich in odd-chain fatty acids, and other beneficial components, at higher concentrations than those present in other natural dietary sources of OCFA, at lower cost, and higher production yield. Further, disclosed are examples of incorporation of these higher concentration OCFA products into food for human and non-human animal consumption.
SHELF-STABLE LIQUID COFFEE ADDITIVE
A shelf stable liquid composition for sweetening, flavoring, and lightening coffee, comprises a sweetener system, a dairy-based lightener system, flavor, water, shortening, and a second emulsifier component. The ingredients are cooked to form a liquid composition that is shelf stable for at least three months at room temperature.
Eicosapentaenoic acid-producing microorganisms, fatty acid compositions, and methods of making and uses thereof
The present invention is directed to isolated microorganisms as well as strains and mutants thereof, biomasses, microbial oils, compositions, and cultures; methods of producing the microbial oils, biomasses, and mutants; and methods of using the isolated microorganisms, biomasses, and microbial oils.
COMPOSITION OF A MILK-CONTAINING BEVERAGE CONTAINING SPECULOOS AND METHOD OF PREPARING IT
Method (1) for preparing a milk-containing beverage containing speculoos (8), consisting of the following steps:—removal of the milk fat fraction (5) from the milk by centrifugation or churning,—grinding of speculoos (2) into speculoos powder (4) dispersion of fine speculoos powder (4) in the milk fat fraction (5) of the whole milk (3) by mixing the milk fat fraction and the speculoos powder at high speed in a dispersing mixer (10), a high-friction disperser (12) or in a. disintegrator/dissolver (21);—adding the resulting dispersion (6) to skimmed milk (7) or low-fat milk in a proportion that restores or approximates the original milk fat content in the whole milk (3); intensely mixing the dispersion (6) with the skimmed (7) or low-fat milk to a stable dispersion of the speculoos powder (4) in the milk.
ENGINEERED HEMICHANNELS, ENGINEERED VESICLES, AND USES THEREOF
Described herein are engineered hemichannels, engineered vesicles that can contain the one or more of the engineered hemichannels, pharmaceutical formulations thereof, and uses thereof. In some aspects, the engineered vesicles can include one or more cargo molecules. Also described herein are methods of loading the engineered vesicles. In some aspects, loading of one or more cargo molecules engineered vesicles can be optionally via an engineered hemichannel contained in the engineered vesicle.
MCT FORMULATIONS FOR INCREASING KETONE EXPOSURE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING SUCH FORMULATIONS
A composition effective for treating or preventing a condition for which extended exposure to ketones is beneficial contains medium chain triglycerides (MCTs) and also contains proteins in a weight ratio of at least 0.1 g protein/1.0 g of the compound. Other aspects are directed to a method of extending blood exposure to ketones derived from oral absorption of a food product by an individual; a method of improving or maintaining at least one of neurologic health, cognitive function, or exercise performance; and a method of making the composition.
USE OF POLAR LIPIDS TO TREAT OR PREVENT GESTATIONAL DIABETES MELLITUS
Methods of treating or preventing gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and/or treating or preventing one or more GDM-associated risks or one or more sequelae of GDM by administering one or more polar lipids, in addition to uses, compositions, and medicaments comprising one or more polar lipids to treat or prevent gestational diabetes mellitus and/or treat or prevent one or more GDM-associated risks or one or more sequelae of GDM.
